The world wasn't ready for "In The Night" in 2015. I think it should've been the pop smash hit of the album instead of "Can't Feel My Face". Agree so hard. Such an incredible song with such a dark backstory that doesn’t trade out it’s catchy chorus for real subject matter. Just screams ‘The Weeknd’ to me and would’ve been an amazing way to close out an amazing mainstream breakthrough era with this song becoming a smash. Better world.

I love basically all of The Weeknd’s songs, but In the Night has to be my all-time favorite of his.

A friend of mine once said he doesn’t like In The Night because he wasn’t the biggest fan of his voice first and foremost. The chorus on this track annoys him due to his dislike. And honestly, I see where he‘s coming from.

I think "In The Night" was to close sounding to "Can't Feel My Face" to smash. It did well but was completely overshadowed by it in my opinion. I got tired of it pretty quickly if I remember correctly but that's just me.

maybe there is no 'next video' .with the coronavirus and all of the bad things out there maybe in your eyes is the third and final single of the era or at least the next singles won't have a real official video I thought he tweeted “more videos to come.” Anyway, I was thinking about this yesterday. Does anyone think they will serve a remix to this song featuring a female pop star? Maybe in 2 months as a tactic to have it peak high. With the video already out and him having no way to promote it on TV, it would make sense for them to pull this stunt. Especially since we’ve seen them already unveil a deluxe version with remixes. I sense one will happen for this as well. I was thinking Dua Lipa would be the perfect duet partner for a remix, especially with both artists topping the charts with a retro direction now. However, she's dating Abel's ex's brother so somehow I don't see that dynamic getting the green light.

I just don’t get it, it has all the things a pop song needs to smash. It had already been out as an album track for a long time before it was a single. I hope "Save Your Tears" doesn't suffer the same fate!

What are your predictions for this single? I think it will do fairly well, radio should be on board with this. I would have gone with “Save your tears” , but people seem to like “In your eyes” better. It’s holding pretty well on spotify. There should be 2 more singles this era. Save your tears needs to be one, with a retro video like Doja’s “Say so” but better and with Abel’s touch of course. to close the era i would go with “Scared to Live”

It’s holding pretty well on spotify. I can see it reaching top five, however number one might be a stretch, but if it somehow does get there, it'll probably be sometime in June or July once it starts peaking on radio, with a remix being released to boost its sales and streaming. I can also see a sales discount being put in place during that period to boost its numbers. Although in the end, we'll have to see if Abel is still interested in strongly promoting his singles during the summer.

“In The Night” was a huge radio hit despite only peaking at #12 on the Hot 100. I think there were several factors working against it, including it being a later single, Abel barely doing any live performances of it, and it having a dark video with no replay value. It also received a lot of criticism for sounding too MJ. I get that “Can’t Feel My Face” had the same vibes, but ITN took it one step further in its attempts to recapture the MJ/Quincy 80s sound. I remember my friend critiquing it as sounding like “an amateur singer emulating an R&B singer who is inspired by Michael.”
I do think “In Your Eyes” sounds a bit like “I Feel It Coming” but I think it’s a better track and will perform a lot stronger on the charts. IFIC slowed down the Starboy era drastically and I don’t think that was a good single choice versus all the songs on the album they could’ve gone with. I predict IYE will go top 3 at least.

A lot of Abel's stuff is very MJ though. I always thought "I Feel It Coming" was THE most MJ sounding song Abel ever did.

I don’t think IFIC killed the Starboy era, it was a bug radio hit and it went top 5 on the hot 100. What slowed down the era was republic giving up on the album once IFIC peaked. Rockin’ should have been a single, same with secrets. It was a waste of an era.

I don't think the era as a whole was a waste, but it was strange that nothing was sent to CHR/Pop after the success of the first two singles. A lot of songs had potential.

In Your Eyes has constantly been stuck in my head since Friday, especially the saxophone at the end.

The label (and Abel for that matter) didn't seem nearly as committed to the Starboy era as they seem to be for After Hours, I definitely think this'll be a strong top 5 hit for a while once radio increases

"Die For You" was supposed to be released in December 2017 to pop radio but they cancelled its release on that format unfortunately. It was only promoted on rhytmic.

Both "Rockin'" and "Secrets" were released as international singles, still though, I never understood why they didn't promote him stateside, especially considering that the latter had a music video and performed really well on Argentinian radio.

Based on how they handled Starboy, this'll probably be the last single and then they'll randomly drop a video for "Snowchild" in October.

These generic titles are really a problem... Save Your Tears, In Your Eyes, In the Night lol What should he do? Use a thesaurus and make titles that way? Then people will say he is pretentious. It's a lose/lose situation.

Save Your Tears, In Your Eyes, In the Night lol I mean most songs since ever have always had generic titles We have had many songs with similar names or the exact same name even be hits And overly complicated song names are usually on the pretentious side of things when people see them Especially when it comes to radio play and what not

"I Feel It Coming" was too safe of a choice, and alienated him to just a Pop and Hot AC audience. There were stronger singles on the album that could've smashed across the board. "Party Monster" could've been sent to Pop along with Urban and Rhythmic. They also had "Six Feet Under" which would've smashed on those formats. "Rockin'" could've then been saved as the final single during the summer. The label/management wasted too much time sending specific songs to specific formats when there were tracks on the album that could've smashed on most formats simultaneously. The era ran out of fuel quickly because it felt like "I Feel It Coming" was just a non-event of a single. It was the focus single at Pop but it didn't even hit top 3 at pop radio did it? Rather odd that it was released back to back with "Starboy" which was the better Daft Punk track.

I think it went Top 5 on CHR and made Top 40 YE which is pretty good. "I Feel It Coming" wasn't a flop.
