I Agree that “scared to live” is the obvious next single choice. It’s a very big ballad

Which is weird cause this and ITN are my favorites from there respective albums

Why is this doing poorly? He seemed to be dominating? Is it because it kind of sounds like all of the other songs/singles?

Its not a smash out of the gate, it never was actually. I want to believe its callouts will be fine, cause the streaming has dropped and sales are minimal so far. If only he could perform somewhere somehow!!

It’s not obvious. He has a N1 song on pop radio , so that needs to die first so “In Your Eyes” can hace a chance. Then we will see if radio likes it or not.

Okay, but I'm not talking about radio though. Sure there is a chance radio will take this much further. We've seen radio do much more obvious stunts ("My Oh My" being one right now), but the concern is streaming and other ways of promo. This will be very hard to get it to become a Hot 100 top ten hit, even with a lot more radio support. So why drag this on? Sending "Scared to Live" in a couple weeks would be more ideal. The song is still fresh and new, and it's already doing well on Urban AC. The longer they wait and do nothing, the more likely the possibility that there won't be another top ten hit off the album.

The song has only been out for month and out while BL was/is at it's peak performance Chill people
In regards to other ways of promo, there isn't really much aside from him doing a stay at home performance so that will be the same for all songs right now from about every artist

I get that you love "Scared to Live" (I do too), but it's time will come later. Ballads perform better in the fall than they do in the summer, let "Scared to Live" shine later. Anyway, "In Your Eyes" is doing fine, it's literally only been out for month and is gaining decently on radio (don't forget that "Blinding Lights" struggled for a while on streaming too, and also slowed down a bit on Pop radio when entering the top 25). If "In Your Eyes" somehow loses all its bullet and spins within the next month or two, then sure, they should push "Scared to Live" or even "Save Your Tears" as quickly as possible. But right now fam, you're kinda just looking like a "Scared to Live" fanboy, which is both awesome (because it's a great song) and kind of goofy (because "In Your Eyes" has only been pushed for a month).

Imagine if they would release the SNL version of Scared To Live, that is superior in every single aspect, as a single to start a trend with many artists releasing live versions as official singles. Or just scrap that, take a risk and send Hardest To Love after IYE.

I just know what would be well received with the general public and it’s a song like this.

Radio does make a song rise in both Itunes & Spotify, bare in mind that it’s the fans who stream a song in its first week. Most of the GP tend to know songs when they are played by radio, and so they then stream or buy if they like it.

I like this even better than his first two singles. Hope it’s just biding its time and does really well!

I feel like the General Public hears "Blinding Lights" an 80's inspired Weekend song and there good with that for a bit. This didn't need to get promoted yet? Kids want fast hits but people who work etc need a few seconds to take a song in. I know this is the generation to "just get it out there" but this song may suffer because of it. I hope I'm wrong but this reminds me of the same thing that happened by the pop song that got overshadowed last era. I know it did well on radio but other numbers were lacking.

Are you referring to “I Feel It Coming” or “In The Night”? Either way though, it’s interesting that his team has made the same mistakes for 3 eras now. “In The Night” followed the same formula of “Cant Feel My Face, ” and the reception was lukewarm. “I Feel It Coming” featured Daft Punk just as “Starboy” did, and the reception was also timid in comparison.. And now here we are with “In Your Eyes” following BL. It seems the general public likes to hear different dimensions of Abel, but not a repeated formula. That’s why “The Hills” was such a brilliant follow-up/counter-part to “Can’t Feel My Face.” And probably why both “Heartless”/“Blinding Lights” did well as counter-parts.

I suddenly now really like this, but another reason why it is not doing so well is that this song is actually extremely sad and melancholic and who needs right now these emotions.

I remember everyone here thought it was going to SMASH and it just ended up being a moderate hit. I know it did well for a minute at radio but it wasn't what many expected. It felt to fast to soon.

Sad that this is getting lost in the shuffle. It deserves more Pop success than Heartless, for example, which was never that great of a fit for the format.

"Heartless" probably would've never worked as anything but the 1st single. I agree it's definitely very standard and nothing refreshing from him, but it was smart to have a song like this fill in as the lucrative 1st single if the guarantee was always there that it was going to debut at #1. That way the real potential smashes get saved for later. Obviously they thought "In Your Eyes" was one of those potential smashes but it looks like they were wrong.
