Yâall did Darius dirty! Heâs one of country musicâs most consistent current artists and always manages to keep the country instruments in the mix on his music. If by "consistent" you mean "incessantly vanilla and safe", and by "current" you mean "hasn't had a hit in 3 years or consistent success in 8 years", then I 100% agree with you! Darius did in fact get 2 #1 hits in a row in 2017-2018, which is more consistent than most artists in their 50s can manage nowadays. But itâs your opinion.

Sam Hunt has done some truly impactful and revolutionary work in his brief time in the industry. A lot of people would say it is not the right kind of impact though, and I can definitely understand where people would dislike his sound. My biggest problem with him is that he seems to lack the consistency of vision to make it in the industry long-term. Montevallo is a very solid and innovative album, but ever since then he has been mediocre at best, putting out one unmemorable song after another with seemingly no idea what to do with his career next. He finally got that second album out after like 6 years, but my interest in it is almost zero considering how terrible and/or forgettable every song we have heard since then has been. Sam had the following and momentum to be a HUGE superstar, and has pretty much wasted or missed every opportunity to capitalize on it. A very fitting last place here, considering how many of these artists have been able to sustain wildly impactful careers for multiple decades. Oh wow so eloquent - I totally agree lol I was obsessed with Montevallo and I still play it sometimes to this day (which is the sole reason I ranked him that high well maybe not I've been obsessed with "Hard to Forget"), but my interest level has considerably waned. I'm loving "Hard to Forget" a ton at the moment, but that is not even close enough to bring back the level of interest in him I had as an artist in his Montevallo days. And then Darius Rucker... I haven't cared for his music outside of "Wagon Wheel" and "This".

Rascal Flatts was killed by 9 bottom 5 ranks.
They had a career in the 2000s and early to mid 2010s. Now they don't.

Wait did I put Rascal Flatts that high But then when I think about it, it kind of makes sense since I enjoy a pretty large amount of their discography.

Rascal Flatts are over-hated around here! They are not my favorites by any means, and I don't have any of their albums, but I have enjoyed at least 95% of their hits well enough. Gary's voice isn't for everyone, but his high range is super impressive if you know anything about male voices!

ok what is this disregard y'all have for Rascal Flatts? I've never understood it. Gary LeVox happens to have an incredible voice and while some of their singles were absolutely not good...they still have absolutely incredible GEMS. "What Hurts The Most," "Bless the Broken Road," "Every Day," "Life Is A Highway," and so on. They're clearly overhated here and I don't get why.
i said what i said.

I like all 3 artist that are out so far and yet they all deserve to be out already.
Sam Hunt had a strong start to his career but so did Gretchen Wilson and look where she is now. It remains to be seen if he can truly bounce back from the 6 years between albums but we will see. As for now though he only belongs near the bottom of this list when compared to the other artist on this list.
Darius Rucker has had hits but most have been fairly forgettable. That being said I LOVE "If I Told You" and a couple others from earlier in his career while absolutely despising "Wagon Wheel" (not sure why but I've never liked it).
I could see an argument as to why Rascal Flatts deserve to be higher than bottom 5 but honestly when you look at all the artist in this list they just don't stack up for me. That being said I do agree that they are a little overhated but those saying they hate Gary's voice is something that while I don't agree with I do understand disliking someone cause of their voice that a lot of people like. For me a large part of Taylor Swift's Country career is un-listenable because of her voice, so I can understand that to an extent.
I do think that Luke Combs has overstayed already. He is only on album #2, which yes is doing really well but I still think it is too early in his career to be ahead of a lot of the artist in this list.

Hint for #37: Luke Combs That's actually really clever, now I wish I didn't waste this hint on Blake! HeyHeyHey loses a #2 with Blake Shelton. I think the general Pulse consensus for Blake is he ainât what he used to be. I guess when your debut single is âAustinâ, itâs hard to live up to that. Blakeâs career didnât really kick into high gear until about 10 years after he debuted, with the album Red River Blue. When he was on fire, he was on fire. Every single of Blakeâs went to #1 in the period between âHillbilly Boneâ (2009) and âCame Here to Forgetâ (2016), for a total of 17 in a row. After that, however, his career started to wane (by male A-lister standards). He missed the top 5 twice and didnât hit the top 40 of the Hot 100 until 2019 with the massive hit âGodâs Countryâ. That was his highest-peaking single on the Hot 100 since 2013 and went Gold in ACTUAL SALES, which never happens these days. Of course, he ruined it with âHell Rightâ which missed the top 10 altogether but he is currently smashing again with âNobody but Youâ, a duet with his girlfriend and singer Gwen Stefani.

Blake Shelton is very hit or miss for me, but his hits for me are really some HITS. The songs of his I like are damn good songs imo. And "Austin" is just incredible.

Rascal Flatts were as high as they needed to be. Some of the worst âtalentâ to ever make it big in Nashville. Goodbye.
Darius and Sam Hunt did about what they should, even if I like them both.
Shelton was maybe a little low but preference wise, heâs about where I would slot him.

Blake Shelton has some good songs like "Austin", "Ol' Red" etc. but do I care for him as an artist? No, he's too hit-or-miss even his 2000s music at least for me. I could've put Darius below him but the way he kept churning out some of the most vanilla hits while being one of the biggest hitmakers in the genre was enough to bump Blake down on my list.

Three top 10 losses for Chris! He is definitely a polarizing figure on Pulse (though Iâm not sure why, honestly). He first broke on to the country scene as a songwriter, writing songs like Josh Turnerâs âYour Manâ and Luke Bryanâs âDrink a Beerâ. Chris released his debut album Traveller in May 2015, which opened with 27k albums sold in its first week (great for a new artist). At the CMAs that year, he and Justin Timberlake performed the song âTennessee Whiskeyâ from Traveller which pretty much immediately catapulted Chris to stardom! The album is now certified 4x Platinum and Chris has gotten a few country radio hits (crazy, right? Country radio playing country music?) since then.

I like a fair decent amount of Blake's songs including "Austin", "The Baby", and even his most recent hit "God's Country". Those are really the only three songs that I would ever even reach for myself to play from his discography because overall it's just a rather unmemorable line of work. He's almost right up there with Luke Bryan (I forgot he wasn't included here!) in terms of being one of the most overrated country artists of recent memory and it's because he's played things way too safe. He's become nothing more than a TV personality on a singing competition show that does nothing for the artists and is all about boosting the careers of the judges. So yea I'm fine with seeing him leave in the bottom 5.
