What is this thing you guys keep going on about? Was Murder On Music Row a song? Why is it significant? And I read some others involving Faith Hill and Shania... could someone explain a little bit of that here? "Murder On Music Row" is a song that George Strait/Alan Jackson recorded together in the early 00s. Here is the performance of them singing it at the CMAs. The song is essentially about how country music has been murdered. Somebody cut out its heart and soul and replaced it with loud guitars and heavy drums, and all the greats like George Jones, Merle Haggard, etc. are no longer welcome in the genre. I did not know this until reading this thread, but apparently there have been rumors that the song is being critical of people like Shania and Faith who were really starting to bring pop into country at the time. George and Alan performed it at the CMAs, and ended up winning Vocal Event of the Year I believe! And then Tim performed "Things Change"... This song was not a single or anything at the time, so why did he sing it? Surely he had a current hit that could have been performed instead? People interpreted it to be a response to "Murder On Music Row", essentially telling the two older guys to get over it because things change. That's my basic understanding of the "controversy". George always played "Murder On Music Row" off as a joke, and has had a great relationship with Tim and Faith through the years, so I personally doubt that they were actually jabbing at each other here, and the media/crazy stans probably blew it out of proportion, lol. Alan took the song a little more seriously though, so I don't know where he fits into the picture. First, Carrie, thank you for the link... but my ad blockers go crazy when I click the link lol Still, thank you! And bboat11 Thank you AGAIN, you are always so nice to me ♥ I don't know what I did to deserve it lol So thank you very much for the explanation. My mind is working and still considering if Things Change was sung because of Murder, but whatever the outcome, I feel more knowledgeable now ♥

Me and .indulgecountry have been in sync with a lot of these rankings lol. Losing "You Get Used to Somebody" so close to the Top 5 is devastating. Especially with 'Grown Men Don't Cry' still around.

Singles bias really benefited "Unbroken" and "Grown Men Don't Cry," neither of which are even remotely close to the strongest songs on the album. Hope "Telluride" out-lives both of those at least. Rooting for an "Angry All the Time" win!

Dropping off a little tease for now, only TWO POINTS separated #5 and #4! 😓 TWO POINTS = Telluride? I hope not but Telluride is a place with points and peaks of the mountains. Maybe two of them? TBH as much as I love this song I’ve never been anywhere near Telluride. Emoji is sad so = Grown Men Don’t Cry @ #4

But it literally just means there's two points between them. 😭😭😭😭😭

Hoping to finish this up tomorrow night! Will our last album track, Telluride, infiltrate the singles and if so, how far can it go?!

YAASSSSSSS, "Grown Men Don't Cry" is pretty good, but everything that is left is REALLY good, so it was time I always wish I liked this song more than I do, but ultimately I find it to be a tad undercooked in the chorus. The song could say a lot more if they actually gave it a chorus rather than merely repeating the title a couple times

I'm guessing "Unbroken" is next just based on the fact that it also seems to have a handful of haters around here...

In 4th place we lose another single, Unbroken! This song is fine, but the best way to describe it for me is Jo Dee Messina's Dare to Dream- A nice catchy final single that isn't groundbreaking or moving the needle much. There's songs I would've preferred 😂 It's our first song since #10 to not receive a #1! .indulgecountry is last to lose his last place! This is also our last song that got over a hundred points! =o The top 3 ran with it! Third place was at #2 the entire submission process until the second to last list!

"Unbroken" is a truly underrated hit from Tim. Nobody ever thinks about it or talks about it, but then when I bought his Greatest Hits Volume 3 this song started playing and I recognized it IMMEDIATELY from my childhood and was like "OH YEAH HOW COULD I FORGET"!!!! Also, this is one of those songs that continues to bop so hard that I cannot help but sing along with every time it comes on. I absolutely shred my voice every time and have to stop for the day, but I hit all the notes dammit!!

We lose our final album track in third place! It was in second place the entire process until taylor is terrified came in hot with her list and that's all she wrote! I do have to thank her because her ranking makes mine look less ruthless. 😂 gardyfan, HeyHeyHey and BlueShades874 lose their #1 song that I think put up a really good fight!- 43 points separated it from #4 Unbroken!

This.....sounds like something that is going to piss me off The last two to submit are Carrie and Flops who both sometimes have... questionable taste (moreso the latter) Yeah, knowing who they are is what makes me so skeptical about the fuckery that is about to ensue 😂 Like, the only acceptable outcome here is "Telluride" at #3, but that would mean that it had to be at #2 for the entire submission process, which just does not feel possible... So then the question becomes is Carrie more likely to be floppy enough to tank "Cowboy", or be floppy enough to tank "Angry"? Either way, the outcome is bleak... And Flops LOVES "Cowboy", so I am willing to bet that "Angry" is about to be done HELLA dirty Edit: YASSS the best case scenario!!!!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE "Telluride" It's one of the best album tracks of Tim's entire career, and 100% certain to be in my top 5 when we get to the album tracks rankdown!! So impressed with its showing here!! It would have been a very fitting top 2 contender, but unfortunately it's up against two of the best hits of Tim's entire career... I have no problem seeing it lose to either of these hits! Now GO COWBOY!!!!!!!!!

"Telluride" is great so I'm very thankful it is rightfully in the top 3.
I actually don't hate "Unbroken" but I can't say I like it at all, either. Just not a fan of the production and the melody is boring to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm also glad "Grown Men Don't Cry" made the top 5 because there's something about that song melodically that I really enjoy.
Also, the top 2 is perfect... definitely rooting for "Cowboy' but this IS my top 2, so... yeah not sure what this whole 'Flops submitted last yikes' business is supposed to mean but I love both of these, so ha.
