1. What song will be #1? “Live Like You Were Dying”
2. What song will be #16? “Kill Myself”
3. Which singles (Live Like You Were Dying, Back When, Drugs or Jesus, Do You Want Fries With That, My Old Friend) will do the best? Which will do the worst? The order will be “Live Like You Were Dying”, “Back When”, “My Old Friend”, “Do You Want Fries With That”, “Drugs or Jesus”
4. Which album tracks will do the best and make it into the album tracks rankdown? Hopefully “Blank Sheet of Paper”!!!
5. What song will be most polarizing? Least? Most - “Everybody Hates Me”, Least - “Live Like You Were Dying” and maybe “Blank Sheet of Paper” if everyone ends up loving it as much as I do!
6. Any other thoughts/comments? This is a super strong album!

Our first loss from the album is Just Be Your Tear, which flirted with bottom place all through the process, even though it got some support through the way. I do like this one when I'm listening to it, but it just doesn't stand out enough for me on this album. Only 2 of us lose our last place with the first reveal! 😬

This one kind of surprises me. It doesn't get any countrier than this vulnerable ballad. 😉 It shared last place with Just Be Your Tear through the submission process, and got the privilege of not being first out at the time of cutoff. No one putting this top five didn't help, three more lose their bottom ranked song.

I had a hunch the first couple of songs out would be one's not on anyones radar. "Just Be Your Tear" suffers from the result of it being near the end of an already bloated album with one too many songs and also just rather forgettable. As I mentioned earlier, I think they could've trimmed this album down some in length and this would certainly be one of the songs I would've left off.
On the other hand, "Open Season On My Heart" is such a great song and I'm disappointed that it found itself in the bottom two. I probably shouldn't be surprised though because songs like this aren't in Pulse's wheelhouse.

We lose the closing track next, and I'm going to go ahead and say I definitely underranked this. I've always considered the album over after Kill Myself, and have just now rediscovered this song. I have to say it would probably be in my top ten now, I've been liking it more and more with each listen the past few weeks. gonecountry loses his last place while 8 others lose a top ten. 😔

I was going to stop here since hardly anyone is on but I'll continue since I've got a few of y'all commenting. 😛 Hopefully everyone else shares some opinions when they're not sleepyheads.

“We Carry On” is probably the one song that grew on me the more I listened to it. I initially had this ranked closer to my bottom 3, but ended up bumping it up just one spot shy of my top ten. One of the things that stood out most to me is how relevant the message behind this song is.

We lose the closing track, Kill Myself next. When I wrote out reveals in wordpad, this one was actually at no. 9 and part of the album tracks rankdown, but it fell hard and killed itself the last few days. Three participants lose their last place. Yeah, let's talk about this song lol when the album was new I was dating a fellow Tim stan and we were talking about this song and I mentioned him killing himself in it. He harharhar'ed and was like, listen to the song again!. What hidden message have I always been missing? 😂 It's not like Adam's Song where he clearly decides to go on with life by the end. ??? I just take it as he's heartbroken and melancholy and doing his final routine before taking his life.

I had to listen to “Kill Myself” many, many times before deciding just how to rank this. Now, I actually don’t think this song is literally about someone killing himself. I believe this to be about a man who is looking back on his life and how he’s mistreated others, so he’s ready to make amends and change for good...hence he’s killing his old self. That’s the twist on this song that I think many overlook.
That said, as someone who lost their father to suicide I just can’t with this song and I only left it out of my bottom two because of the explanation above.

I just couldn't with this song either. The interpretation availability is a bit hard to read, and so the lyrics came off very....controversial to say the VERY least.

Ofcourse I just want to say I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, Tim. 😥 I thank God the devil in me died/I stand before you now, a man changed and alive lyrics definitely don't fit with the rest, and I think if the final chorus was slightly changed it would be a lot more easy to interpret this song. But I definitely think you're onto something. I need to call my ex from 15 years ago and tell him I might finally get it now. (he's gonna be like who are you? what are you talking about? 😂) Okay guys, the next reveal really makes my blood boil so I'm going to ask the lord for the strength to post it and will be back tomorrow!

The first time I heard this I was very like "WTF", like there is NO WAY this is okay... But after a few listens I settled into the same interpretation as you did. Suicide has not made nearly as big of an impact on my life as it has with yours, but I do feel that the nonchalant way with which he talks about killing himself sends a message even if the lyrics ultimately go a different direction. Like, I'm glad the lyrics go another direction, and that ultimately helped me to rank it at #9 because it is very well written.......but I don't think it is at all wise to use killing yourself as a shocking gotcha moment just to be like "Jk, it's just a metaphor!"

Not gonna post much on this but I've always taken "Kill Myself" in the same context as Martina's "From The Ashes". I've never once took the meaning to mean actual suicide so that is a bit startling to me because the way the song ends clearly paints a picture of him moving on and letting go of the past

“Kill Myself” is just so sad and dark. Even if the narrator isn’t actually killing himself in the song and is killing his old self/old habits, it still feels a bit icky to me.
When I first saw the titles of the songs in this rankdown and noticed a song titled “Kill Myself” and a song titled “Everybody Hates Me” I was a bit scared for Tim’s mental health, even though this album was released over 15 years ago. Thankfully the latter is about something very different!

"Kill Myself" was disgusting. And even if the lyrical content wasn't awful, there was nothing enjoyable about his delivery or the melody or the production either. Just all around a terrible song... one of the worst I've ever heard from Tim, honestly (most of the album cuts on here were first discoveries for me since I don't own many of his records). I'm glad it didn't get too far in this, but I am a bit surprised it escaped bottom 2.
Also just wanna throw out there that I have no idea what people's general perception of this album is, but I honestly thought this record was pretty terrible, especially for something with 16 songs. Jesus Christ. He could've cut the tracklist in half here and had a decent EP, but for an album so bloated with content, much of it is quite mediocre. I only really cared for about half the songs, and the highlights here don't stack up too well against the highlights of many of his other records.

Might as well rip the bandaid off and post this reveal! Missing out on the album tracks rankdown after the last few lists came in is the album's opening jam, How Bad Do You Want It. It was used as the theme song to CMT's Trick My Truck and Dallas stations opted to play this over Drugs or Jesus, I got to hear it on the radio like it was a #1 hit. 😊 One of my favorite Tim album tracks and the album track rankdown won't feel right without it. bboat11 knows he's on my shit list after this one. 😂, him and Kanenrá:ke lose their last place.

Just missing the top ten and the last song to miss the album tracks rankdown is the fun workplace tune, Everybody Hates Me. I like the originality of this one and how it's not the same old subject matter we've heard a thousand times. Two more lose their last place, there's still four more floating around!

I'm officially BREAKING s**t! WTF?!? I'm going through the 5 stages of grief and I've passed denial and think I'm at bargaining, maybe we can add an asterik to it as Host's Pick for the album tracks rankdown. 😂 I'll hopefully get on at a decent time tonight and get us to the top five... if enough people are on, possibly finish! I loved revealing all of Not A Moment Too Soon at once and I like when we all get to discuss the album along the way through the reveals.

So about "How Bad Do You Want It"... Songs in that sonic vein tend to have an uphill battle for me to fall in love with them. I'm not totally sure how to define that, because it's not necessarily a problem with minor keys, or rock-leaning production, or vocal delivery... I frequently like all of those things! It's just the way they come together on certain songs. Songs that sound like it tend to be annoying to me. Honestly, it's a sound that Jason Aldean has covered more than anybody else, so the easiest way to define it is to say it sounds like a Jason Aldean song 😂 "Everybody Hates Me", on the other hand, was the opposite for me!!! This is an anthemic kiss-my-ass jam that has the perfect energy in response to other peoples' opinions that we all need to adopt so we can start living our best lives! I loved the fact that it came across as very different from the norm, and it was a nice definitive moment on the album that was memorable among a lot of filler. Would have loved to see it in the album tracks rankdown! "How Bad Do You Want It" would have been a good song to have in the album tracks rd too, considering its cultural significance as the theme song for Trick My Truck... It kinda feels wrong that it missed out, although you can't just blame me because based on what you said it sounds like it would have made it despite my ranking if it hadn't been tanked by our procrastinators
