let me just state that I expect my #1 to be polarizing but it absolutely shouldn't be and I hope to be surprised by everyone. I do not think a single should be #1, my Top 2 should be the top 2 100%. As much as I love "Still" and "It's a Pleasure..." that is how I feel about this album as a whole. Look forward to talking about those 2 songs more when the time comes! You should have a word with ole HeyHeyHey about his #11. I did a relisten! I’m glad I actually like Tim a lot so I don’t mind listening to his tunes again.

Okay, so I'm officially chomping at the bit for this one. It does have my all-time favorite Tim song, so I'm curious how that's going to play out.

This has been closed for awhile but with no rush for the next installment, I'm just now getting around to showing you the much anticipated Southern Voice results! Sorry for the delay, but now let's get to it! Pre Reveal Questions!
1. What song will be #1?
2. What song will be in last place?
3. Will any of the singles miss the top 5? If so, which one(s) and where will it/they fall?
4. What will be the most polarizing song of the rankdown? Least polarizing?
5. Any other thoughts/comments?

1. I don't think a single will win. Maybe You Had To Be There? I can see that one going over well. 2. I'm Only Jesus? 3. Yes, Southern Voice at #6 4. If I Died Today 5. This is a pretty good album, bad singles aside from the lead <3

1. What song will be #1? If there is a God in heaven, You Had to Be There. My favorite country song of all time. Really just an incredible song. If you are a child of divorce and/or absentee parents, there is no way that these lyrics don't resonate with you.
2. What song will be in last place? That's a hard one.. Could a single get last place? Nah. Maybe If I Died Today?
3. Will any of the singles miss the top 5? If so, which one(s) and where will it/they fall? Maybe the question should be will any of them make the Top 5? I am thinking It's A Business may not make it. I personally like Southern Voice but I'm sure there are some tankers out there. Even Still will likely have some detractors. It's a Business at #6
4. What will be the most polarizing song of the rankdown? Least polarizing? Most: Southern Voice or I'm Only Jesus Least: You Had to Be There
5. Any other thoughts/comments? f**k Curb for their poor treatment of Tim's best song. What the eff were they thinking? I actually like this album a good bit, despite at least one or two too many depressing tunes..

1. What song will be #1? I would LOVE for a surprise album track victory, as there are at least 3-4 album tracks that totally deserve to win... But I have very little faith in y'all, so it'll probably be "Southern Voice" 2. What song will be in last place? "If I Died Today". 3. Will any of the singles miss the top 5? If so, which one(s) and where will it/they fall? "It's A Business Doing Pleasure With You" is probably the only one, maybe around #7. 4. What will be the most polarizing song of the rankdown? Least polarizing? Most: "Ghost Town Train". Least: "If I Died Today". 5. Any other thoughts/comments? There are easily 3-4 album tracks here that have immediately launched themselves into being among my favorites of his entire career. What an exceptional album this is, despite the somewhat lackluster singles! I would LOVE to see "Love You Goodbye", "Good Girls", or "You Had To Be There" win this thing, but I could see each of them being hampered by terrible taste too. Can't wait to see how this album goes!!!

I like "If I Died Today" I actually do too. The coffee pot reference at the end is a bit odd, but I get what he's trying to say. I really like the entire album. It doesn't have the best flow as far as collection of songs, but individually i do like all the songs

1. What song will be #1? rooting for "You Had To Be There" or "Love You Goodbye"
2. What song will be in last place? I'm not sure but I am hoping that it isn't "If I Died Today" because I really liked that one. Maybe "Mr Whoever You Are" or "Forever Seventeen". This being said there isn't a bad song on the album
3. Will any of the singles miss the top 5? If so, which one(s) and where will it/they fall? Hopefully "Southern Voice". Never cared for that one. The other two are great though so I hope they both are in the Top 5!
4. What will be the most polarizing song of the rankdown? Least polarizing? I could see the singles being among the most polarizing, and "You Had To Be There" being the least polarizing
5. Any other thoughts/comments? I am hoping to see "Still" being the highest of the singles as that is my favorite of the 3 singles. Don't care for "Southern Voice" but it isn't terrible, still hope it is lower than the others. The only song from this album I had heard previously is "Love You Goodbye". I'm not even sure where I heard that one previously but I love that one and hope it does really well here!

Our first loss of the rankdown wasn't guessed in any of the predictions but almost everyone had it in their bottom five. I don't think it's a bad song but does get lost on an album full of storytelling songs, and the lyrics just try a little too hard for me to take it seriously. Three lose their last place and got perfect rankings!

I almost guessed "I'm Only Jesus" might be last but second guessed myself because I thought enough people would have it higher on their list. Happy to see that "If I Died Today" was not first out! Now watch it be next out lol

"I'm Only Jesus" is the outlier on this otherwise fantastic album. This song is terrible.

Our second loss is the ballad Forever Seventeen, about a woman who has made terrible decisions with her life that's passed her by turning to random men, alcohol and drugs. It's just maybe too dreary for me. Two more lose their last place while three get perfect rankings, including austin getting his bottom two out back to back!

Okay wow we went from the absolute correct last place to one of the biggest wtf-reveals of any of these rankdowns thus far. I am so confused by this being so low. The melody of "Forever Seventeen" is MONEY. Great lyrics and vocals too. Genuinely shocked by this.

10. Mr. Whoever You Are
Total: 105 Average: 7.5 Std Dev: 3.18
The bottom two really separated themselves from the rest of the album, this one finishing 26 points ahead of #11. I do find it very similar to Forever Seventeen lyrically though, I think they could be about the same girl. Two more lose their last place!

The first 3 reveals were my bottom three. My #2 I had never heard until someone mentioned it on Twitter a few months ago and I have loved it ever since. Praying that it is getting a high ranking.

Basically any song leaving will hurt as they're all so strong. This is probably his most underrated album as the singles don't paint just how strong it all is.
"Forever Seventeen" is my bottom song because it's the most forgettable of them for me, but I do still really like it. Probably would've made a fine single too.

One thing I have really come to appreciate about Tim McGraw as we dive into his albums is that he's not afraid to sing either to or about women. And not in a "Hey girl, you make me wanna write a song" sort of way. But about REAL women, going through real issues that real women go through, like struggling with their age, their body image, or their romantic life. That is one of the big reasons why "Forever Seventeen" grabbed me as much as it did. This perspective of singing about a woman who is struggling to cling to her youth sounds sooooo compelling and fresh coming from a man! This is 100% the type of lyrical perspective you would expect to hear from a female artist, while the women in male songs typically come across as more two-dimensional. I love how this song isn't about fixing her or having her fall in love and suddenly her life is perfect. It's just describing her the way she is, and also telling girls just like her that are listening to the song that it is going to be okay if their life isn't some perfect dream world where they always know what they want. On top of that, the song just sounds so good. From the moment the opening chord hits, all resonant and booming, I feel a weird nostalgic connection to the song despite not knowing it before this rankdown. The chord progression may be a little repetitive, but it's still such a cool progression that I never get tired of it. I've gotta admit, I was pretty devastated to see this in the bottom 2. Its absence from the album tracks rankdown is going to be cavernous to me

Are we about to lose the final song to miss out on the album tracks rankdown? 😕
Or the first single to leave us?
