For those of you buying the vinyl, do you actually have record players or is it more of a keepsake?

Mine are more of a keepsake, but only because I haven't gotten around to getting a record player/I don't have any place to put one.

Isn’t it new shows all summer? They might be done. It's repeats through the end of the month. Good news, she's been filming again this week and we get new shows again in August. :) Also, The Voice is scheduled to finally start filming the first week of August.

She should have been releasing albums every year, or every two years. I know she has expanded her career to TV but I'm just worried that music is going to permanently take a backseat for her. She's making more money so it's good for her, but is she gaining fans? Or just becoming "there" for mainstream America. I know outside of the US she has nothing going on.

Kelly's been my #1 since Breakaway/SUBG, and while I'm really happy for her TV career (usually I say I'm really happy for HER but obviously the last few months are ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) ) I've since moved to Europe and literally don't care about TV and movies at all, here or there. So I'm honestly wondering if she is building a fan base and a long term career, when she had, and still could have such an amazing thing going for her in music. Breakaway and Stronger albums are my favs, so obviously it's been a long time for me. I will still follow and support her so I'm not trying to be disrespectful or throw shade, but I really see her potential in music, and would love for her to go further and push musical boundaries.

She literally has said she’s working Hard on an album. So why spend energy being worried about not getting any more music? You do you, I guess lol.

Not gonna lie, I have been a hardcore Kelly fan since 2003 and since Kelly went down the path of TV I have never seen forums more quiet... She may be broadening her audience by becoming a TV personality but I definitely think some longtime fans have slowly become less and less interested in her. It’s nearly been 3 years since she released her last record, COVID or not I highly doubt Kelly would have been planning on releasing a record this year, I Dare You was a solo project and was going to be released in hype for her residency. She obviously has nothing to worry about, shes still popular and will sell no matter how long it is until she next releases an album but personally I think she’s losing fans by focusing less on the music and doing all this stuff for TV. I live outside the US and Kelly is nowhere to be seen, she hasn’t don’t an international tour since the Stonger era, so 2012... we didn’t get a world tour for Meaning Of Life because of all these TV shows she does, and to be honest Meaning Of Life was barely promoted outside of the US in my opinion. I never hear about her in my country unless there’s some news story from the show or the divorce etc...

I won't lie, I feel bad for Kelly's int'l fans. From a promotional perspective they've been getting the short end of the stick since Stronger.
In the US asking if Kelly is gaining any more fans borders on preposterous; she's almost 2 decades into her career and has nothing more to prove, and the US music industry is notoriously ageist so the potential to gain a substantial number of new fans is not that high anyway. But elsewhere it's a fair question to ask because there is definitely more that could be gained outside the US if she wanted to. Unfortunately I just don't think maintaining her visibility worldwide is a big priority for her anymore. Even I Dare You felt more like a personal wish for her rather than an intentional endeavor to recapture a global audience.
But aside from locality, Kelly has given no indication of planning to give up music or even take an extended break. Kelly has always taken 1.5 to 2.5 years between 'eras' so I see no reason to get antsy about her working at her usual pace. If she doesn't release something by October this would be the first time she's taken 3 or more full years in between album releases...but current events have put a lot on hold, so that's an entirely forgivable delay, especially since she's still been feeding us Kellyoke content.

Why are you getting defensive and snarky when I clearly stated why I'm worried? Not necessary. I won't lie, I feel bad for Kelly's int'l fans. Of course she has nothing more to prove, but as I said I still see her potential to push musical boundaries instead of focusing on TV. If she wants to go into TV, fine, but that doesn't mean that everyone's gonna like it, hence the question about her gaining fans which I agree wasn't the right way of putting it. I know she's gonna give us new music, it's not that I'm necessarily worried about that. I bet her new music is gonna be AMAZING too, and she def has the potential to slay hard. I think she's gonna do it! Before the end of this year maybe? Not gonna lie, I have been a hardcore Kelly fan since 2003 and since Kelly went down the path of TV I have never seen forums more quiet... I never hear about her in my country unless there’s some news story from the show or the divorce etc... Yeah after moving outside of the US, every time I tell someone I love Kelly I get met with a neutral or even slightly negative response, as a huge fan it's kinda sad, though I know my motivations might be selfish. And I'm someone that's never cared about TV whatsoever, never watch anything not even series. I love music and as a long time hardcore fan it's tough! I KNOW she has some more great musical moments in her, and perhaps if I were still in the US I wouldn't be saying any of this. The new question is what is the next genre going to be: Pop/Rock, Soul, Electropop, Dance, Country... ahh the possibilities!

Here's the thing. The choice isn't between Breakaway-level Kelly coming back or TV Kelly. Kelly will NEVER be on the level she was at during Breakaway or even from 2009-2012 in the music industry again. The reality is, if she focused exclusively on music, she'd probably be doing about as well as someone like Avril Lavigne right now...who isn't doing very well. Yeah, she might release albums more frequently, but look how well MOL did. And that was with all the exposure she had with The Voice and stuff. We could expect albums from her to fare probably worse as she wouldn't have the promo NBC/The Voice gave her for MOL. Heck, even PBP really didn't do that well compared to her earlier stuff. At least with her TV shows, her releasing an album is still somewhat an event because SHE is still relevant. Personally, I would rather have fewer albums from her if it means they aren't DOA thanks to her NBC deals.

I'd be okay with fewer albums if it still meant singles in between. I Dare You came out in April and the last thing before that was Broken and Beautiful from March 2019. Even if she doesn't have time to do a whole album, more one-off singles would be nice (with videos which we know are possible based off of what Taylor and Katy did).

This may have been answered before but I can’t remember. Has anyone ever won Talk Show Host for the very first year of their show?

This may have been answered before but I can’t remember. Has anyone ever won Talk Show Host for the very first year of their show? Since they split the category up into 2, entertainment and informative, in 2014? No. Funny enough, both winners this year were from rookie shows, Kelly and Tamron Hall. When it was one big category, on a quick glance through wiki I saw that Oprah, Joan Rivers and Rosie all won in their first years.

If there wasn't a point of view or solid theme to the songs before, there definitely is one next week. 😳 I live under a rock so I've never heard of the Moral of the Story song before and now that I have, that one's going to be a tough one to listen to.
In other news, they finally wrapped on season 1 of the show yesterday.
