I really wonder what the real tea is behind the scenes between her and her ex. Him asking for 5 million a year in spousal support? Thank God she dropped that idiot.

oh wow... I totally missed it, thank you! It's funny how random Thankful demos are more likely to leak than any new music being released.

Yikes, those Thankful demos aren't the best. I still remember back in the day when the Stronger demos all leaked. Sooooo many good ones that haven't really seen the light of day yet.

Yas @ that MOL high note! Do we know the other two back up singers aside from Jessi? I recognize the guy from a few Kellyoke performances.

Anyone have a non-FB link because apparently you can't watch FB videos without a login now?

Yas @ that MOL high note! Do we know the other two back up singers aside from Jessi? I recognize the guy from a few Kellyoke performances. The guy is Aaron Encinas. He's done a bunch of the Kellyoke performances and does bgvs/vocal producer on several tv shows including The Voice and the Masked Singer. The other one is Allison Iraheta, the one from Idol, and was on bgvs on the MOL tour for Kelly. dbhmr I don't have that exact one, but here are some other clips from Saturday night (MOL, BOY) and Stronger from last night.

The streets are saying apparently a new Christmas album is for sure happening. I’m starting to buy into the theory more and more that all these legal battles are keeping her from releasing the next album. This wait between albums has been really hard, especially seeing all these other artists releasing. I’m confident the album will be worth the wait, but the waiting is still tough.
She sounded great during those shows over the weekend too. I wish someone got video of TTWLI. She hasn’t performed that once since 2015!

A new Christmas album is happening without a doubt, didn't she release at least three Christmas songs with Atlantic already? Christmas album is just a matter of time, this year or next year?

Personally, it feels a bit too soon for another Christmas LP. I can imagine Atlantic would love to have her make another Christmas record given how well Wrapped In Red has been doing but I think she could wait for a couple more years - maybe in 2023 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Wrapped In Red? Underneath the Tree is still picking up its momentum each year so I hope she keeps pushing that song while putting out a couple of new tracks like she did last year. I think that strategy worked out perfectly last winter.

I'm into a new Xmas album if it's mostly covers - I have a quite a long list of songs I need her voice on, and this is a great time to bang that out (esp since there won't be any songwriter's revenue to worry about in relation to her divorce :) )

I could totally see how a melancholy complement to Wrapped In Red's brassy, upbeat, positive approach would actually be really lovely and amazing, and therefore still not quite interfere with Underneath the Tree's rise to holiday staple (she's released, like, four Christmas singles since then and it hasn't hurt UTT).
...but I still can't help but be a bit bummed. Music is such a huge outlet for her right now by all accounts and I'm desperate to hear what she's been working on, especially with her voice in such top condition and her most recent cowrites (from Piece By Piece/Tightrope/In the Blue to Don't You Pretend/Would You Call That Love) being among the strongest of her whole career. It seems so ridiculous and unfair that a divorce proceeding could derail that, because if it's not coming for another 1-2 years, will this material still be relevant? Will it be a second scrapped almost-album? Plus, I want her to have original material out as her/Idol's 20th anniversary hits.
But alas, her Christmas music is nearly always an A+ so when it comes I know I'll love it. There better be a "River" cover on there and I want that sound to be the theme of the album.

I'm most definitely NOT here for a Christmas record, especially knowing she has written over 60 songs for the upcoming album

Yeah, if it's another Christmas album that doesn't really excite me at all.

I'm not sure how I feel about a new Christmas album. Any recording from her is a blessing for me, but maybe an EP instead of a full album? Christmas Eve + Under the Mistletoe + AIWFCIY + 3 new songs. Wrapped in Red is perfection, and I don't want a new album to dilute it's legacy. I don't know the restrictions she has with WIR since it wasn't recorded under Atlantic, so maybe that's the reason she wants a new body of work with the new label?
On the other hand, the possibility of her giving us something in the same level as Wrapped in Red (the song) or Every Christmas, man, I get chills just thinking about it.

What “streets” exactly are saying we’re getting a Christmas album tho? I know the band referenced Christmas in July but couldn’t that just be a one off single like we have had in the past?
... but yeah, If we can’t have a regular album anytime soon I’ll happily take a Christmas album. Lol I hope it’s true.

I guess I still don't see the logic in why releasing a Christmas album is okay when she can't release a regular album. She'd still be making money off a Christmas album. Even if it was full of covers and she was receiving no writing credits, a Christmas album she releases is probably going to perform better than a "regular" album she releases. And if she's gonna go that route anyway, I'd still rather get some sort of Duets/covers album from her of Kellyokes or something I mentioned a few pages back. Wrapped in Red deserves to have a legacy, and a new Christmas album already might dilute that legacy as someone mentioned above. I'm totally down for a second Christmas album in a few years, but I do feel it's too soon.

I mean, it's obvious why the Atlantic wants a Christmas album from Kelly ASAP. We all know how "well" Kelly's last studio album did. Kelly's best days as a pop star are behind her. That's okay, it was always bound to happen, pop superstardom doesn't last forever for anyone.
But I'm sure Atlantic is well aware how well "Wrapped in Red" and "Underneath the Tree" do every holiday season. So, unsurprisingly, they want a piece of that pie. Kelly is a great vocalist and a TV personality, selling a Christmas album from her should be easier than selling another pop album. It's just how it is. Christmas record being the priority should surprise nobody.
So yeah, after she released two Christmas singles last year it became clear another Christmas album is in the works. It's coming this year or perhaps next year.

Wrapped in Red deserves to have a legacy, and a new Christmas album already might dilute that legacy as someone mentioned above. I'm totally down for a second Christmas album in a few years, but I do feel it's too soon. Christmas albums (generally) generate much less revenue than a brand new studio album, and as a result, there's much less to worry about regarding Brandon's claim to financially benefit from this album. Christmas albums, especially if they're all covers, won't generate much music publishing revenue for Kelly (unless the actual recordings are used in movies, commercials etc.) since she won't be a songwriter on them. Plus, given they are seasonal recordings anyway, it's only going to be during the holidays that the songs generate any money (via radio airplay or plays on Spotify, Apple Music, or sales). It's not to say this project won't be successful financially, but it's a much more limited set of potential earnings to be worried about, than if she released a new studio album that she's co-writing (or not). A new studio album could be generating significant money for years to come (especially if there's a moderate hit she co-wrote) via multiple revenue streams to Kelly - music publishing (use in commercials/movies, performing on tour), music sales (likely minimal if we're being realistic), merch, public performance royalties (radio and digital plays), etc. This is a far greater pool of money to be worried about than the smaller and more easily contained pool the Christmas album offers. Plus, I bet Kelly and team don't exactly feel right knowing Brandon may get a cut of that music's success, for multiple reasons we can all surmise. For these reasons, I think many believe the Xmas album is a smart way to keep her name as a musician out there and give the fans what they want, without risking any financial turmoil down the line.

I think it’s also important to remember that a Christmas album can be entirely original and contain no songs that Kelly has based on her relationship and the breakup of her marriage. That’s clearly NOT going to be the case with her next pop album. Money is one thing but what she wants to write about and how it reflects on Brandon could be a major hurdle in getting the green light.
