Toosie Slide seems to have fallen below Blinding Lights on AM. Doubt it'll last, but it shows it isn't overwhelmingly dominant on there (not that anything really can be in this climate). Toosie Slide is ahead of BL at 11 #11 Toosie Slide #14 @meh #16 The Box #17 Blinding Lights Also Morgan Wallen's new song is at #7 on AM outside of the DaBaby tracks which is kinda crazy for a country song on Apple Music lol

The big surprise in Apple Music is Morgan Whallen's new song at #21. Also, I didn't know there was a new 21 Savage song out today.

Not you considering Spectrum Pulse on the same level as Pitchfork With all respect to Pitchfork and their history, but they do come across as rather elitist and biased every now and then. I mean, even if one is not a fan of Ed Sheeran, no way in hell is "Divide" worthy of a 2.8/10. It's at worst a safe album not exploring the full potential of its artist, and I think Spectrum Pulse's 6/10 is a much more valid and reasonable score. More infamously, Pitchfork was quite critical of Lana Del Rey's "Born To Die", giving it a 5.5/10. Now, Mark wasn't too fond of Lana either, but his reviews of her early work are much more straightforward, clearly explaining his issues with the albums and providing good basis for his arguments (not to mention he acknowledges its appeal to certain demographics). Meanwhile, I feel like the Pitchfork reviewers tend to rely on style and imagery over substance. Just my opinion, of course. Also, the website published a review of MIKA's 2007 album "Life In Cartoon Motion" and gave it a 1.5/10. His music might not be everyone's cup of tea, but to claim 'there's virtually zero worth to this album' is frankly ignorant and shallow-minded. Not to mention Sam Hunt's "Southside", which was bashed by both Spectrum Pulse and The Needle Drop, getting a 7.5/10, a higher rating than Ariana Grande's "Yours Truly", Taylor Swift's "Lover", and Bruno Mars' "24K Magic". Oh, and while doing research for this reply, I also found this totally not biased review of Panic! At The Disco's classic "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out", where the album also got a 1.5/10 and was described as a 'steaming pile of garbage'.Β pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/6586-a-fever-you-cant-sweat-out/ Yeah, even if this was an early review, the fact they allowed this (and the MIKA review) to stay on their website says a lot.Β I just want to stress once again that I respect your opinion, but just because reviews are published by a renowned company doesn't mean they are automatically more credible than those from independent reviewers. After all, there are humans behind Pitchfork, and if Mark or Anthony started writing for them, some folks would definitely feel lessΒ skeptical of what they have to say. wow. I knew pitchfork was bad but GODDAM. These culture vultures showing fake love to hip hop for no reason.

Highest charting pop song besides BL on AM is Intentions at #32, Roses is #33.
It's just one of those weeks again when rap albums come and go.

Pitchfork established its rep by holding up artists like Elliott Smith and The Dismemberment Plan as the gold standard, no reason to expect them to cushion the egos of LCD pablum like Sheeran and Panic. No denying though that post-Conde Nast acquisition, their inconsistency and 'poptimist' overcorrecting has become crippling (the hilarious Sam Hunt review being one instance obviously), but everyone knew it was headed that way back in 2015.

Also, I think it's pretty much pointless to write another boring 4.2/10 review about Ed Sheeran album, full HD hammering is always more entertaining.

yeah I agree. there's no "fair" review, it's all subjective at the end of the day. although they sound snobbish every now and then, a lot of the time they present arguments as to why they gave an album the score they ended up giving. also remember when Halsey called for the collapse of One World Trade Center LMAO:

Manic got its lowest score from Pitchfork, didn't it?
Gaga has never got over 8 there either, even The Fame Monster fell short. I've learned that for an established pop star, anything over 7 is actually very good.

Seems that DaBaby has ok numbers on Spotify, over 3M plays for Rockstar globally.
EDIT: It's #1 in the US with 1.94M streams

Those album stats makes me think that why we don't have the habit to start the album thread as quickly as the H100 thread?

Spotify - 04/15/20
1(debut) DaBaby - ROCKSTAR 1,943,164 2(-1) Drake - Toosie Slide 1,649,603 (-31,117) 3(+2) Playboi Carti - @ MEH 1,484,642 (+326,666) 4(-2) Lil Mosey - Blueberry Faygo 1,359,116 (-49,419) 5(-1) The Weeknd - Blinding Lights 1,317,216 (-5,832) 6(-3) Roddy Ricch - The Box 1,300,719 (-25,359) 7(debut) DaBaby - PICK UP 1,277,267 8(+13) DaBaby - FIND MY WAY 1,255,345 (+651,379) 9(debut) DaBaby - CAN'T STOP 1,129,304 10(debut) DaBaby - LIGHTSKIN SH*T 1,052,963
Others: 11(debut) DaBaby - JUMP 1,043,644 12(debut) DaBaby - BLAME IT ON BABY 938,295 14(debut) DaBaby - TALK ABOUT IT 913,288 16(debut) DaBaby - SAD SH*T 872,789 18(debut) DaBaby - DROP 840,858 19(debut) Sam Smith - I'm Ready 838,037 23(debut) DaBaby - CHAMPION 759,211 24(-1) Joji - Gimme Love 742,312 (+160,552) 25(debut) DaBaby - NASTY 725,036 35(debut) DaBaby - AMAZING GRACE 604,271 39(debut) Morgan Wallen - More Than My Hometown 561,616 52(debut) 21 Savage - Secret 463,725 58(debut) Lil Tecca - Out of Love 437,262 65(debut) Fiona Apple - I Want You to Love Me 403,876 66(debut) Kygo - Freedom 397,034 67(re-entry) Kid Cudi - Leader of the Delinquents 392,229 73(debut) Fiona Apple - Shameika 364,419 86(debut) iann dior - Sick and Tired 333,396
Obviously the big story is DaBaby, debuting with a total number of 13,355,435 M but holy s**t, Fiona Apple managed to get two songs onto the Top 100! I don't even care neither are likely gonna debut, I had no expectations she'd get good streaming number but the fact that she had enough fanfare is amazing.

Hope this proves Twitter jokes are irrelevant when it comes to how an artist performs.

That does appear to be the case. I wonder if any of those Fiona Apple tracks will make noise on the Bubbling Under charts. It's been a long while since she had anything close to a hit.

Hope Fiona Apple can sneak into the Hot 100, would love to see her back on there again. Also idk if anyone else has said this, but DaBaby, Ashanti and Megan's Nasty was sent to Urban.

omg... when I Want You To Love Me by Fiona Apple becomes the biggest sleeper hit of 2020 ahh thats history
(jk obviously but considering one of the biggest new rappers out there dropped an album the same day the fact that she has two songs in the top 100 is crazy)
