just submitted, pretty solid group of songs. Bottom 15 weren't all that great, but otherwise 88 was a good year!

Just sent mine in. had to take my time because I give multiple listens to the songs I really love than just pull up my favorite Hair Metal Youtube playlist and forget about the rank down till the next day.
Songs I really love would fall into my top 40. Number 41 through mid 60's are pretty cool. Anything under #71 could be considered filler material.

let's preview some extras: Brian Setzer - When the Sky Comes Tumblin' Downi love this. It's kinda hokey, but it rocks. Seems like the direction Green Day will be in a couple of years, or maybe they are already closer than we think? BTW Ratt wants back there outfits and Music video girls. Added to my Glam MEtal youtube playlist. Omar And The Howlers - Rattlesnake ShakeNever heard this but it sounds like rolling punches, biker stop ,club blues jam. Like the Titty Twister of From Dusk Til Dawn. The Alarm - Rescue MeSuch an underrated band. I wish I had charted more Alarm myself. Really love the Billy Idol meets The Outfield vibe this song gives me. Cheap Trick - Let GoI never found this to be one of the highlights off 'Lap of Luxury'. The song itself was pretty good, but the chorus was lazy. A better chorus would have made this a better song. The best I could do would be #55-59. The rest of the songs have appeared here or there, or are from bands that tune me out so let's jump to the rock star of the night. Welcome to the Jungle - Guns N' RosesI figured this one would miss the top 100 as well. Too many Hair Metal classics were purposely kept down on mainstream rock format. I think mainstream rock might have actually been my biggest enemy back then. I also think it was run by the Heritage rock acts, because how in hell does this flame thrower of a song miss the top 100 of the year? Easy top 10 slot for this song on my list

Gillan and Glover - Telephone BoxAlbum: Accidentally on PurposeYear-End Rank: 169 | Peak: #15 | Weeks: 7 *A song from Deep Purple band members Ian Gillan and Roger Glover. The Georgia Satellites - Don't Pass Me By Is it me or does this band's songs all sound the same? This one is at least better than the one we ranked.
Rocky Hill - I Won't Be Your Fool Kinda sounds like the Fabulous Thunderbirds meets Eric Clapton. Who was this guy? Not a bad song . Everyone was trying to sound like Bruce Springsteen except Bruce Springsteen.
INXS - Kick Decent song from the band, but it also sounded like they were just going through the motions. Verses were lazy. The chorus saves it from mediocrity .
Peter Cetera - You Never Listen to Me Sounds like a Pink Floyd song. David Gilmour on guitar. No wonder. Pass, and while I'm at it pass on that Pink Floyd extra too.
David Drew - Green-Eyed Lady I didn't dig this at all. Sounds like a silly wanna be Billy Idol rip off.
Britny Fox - Long Way to Love Finally the Rock star of the night. I loved Britny Fox. They had a really cool American Glam Metal sound that kinda sounded like foreign Glam Metal. Big guitar and loud vocals. My favorite song was "Girl School". That MV was played on MTV all the time. Dean's vocals sounded a bit like Paul Stanley in the verses and Tom Keifer on the chorus, and they looked like 70's Aerosmith. hey Dean kinda looks like Paul, Tom , and Steven mixed in a blender. Killer combination makes for a killer song. Top 20 for sure. Maybe higher depending what I could sacrifice.

I know!!! I want to participate, but last weekend got tied up with other stuff and couldn’t make much progress. Tough during the week with work, and then I’m using the hour off every day to actually comment on two rankdowns that are being revealed. I don’t wanna miss out! So I won’t be able to finish this by Friday unfortunately :(

Sting - Englishman in New YorkWhile I don't think this belongs on Mainstream/Active rock chart at all, I did find the music fusion he was going for extremely melodic. The brass section brought out his vocals into that jazzy world quite nicely. That being said I certainly would have ranked this higher than some of that "Grand pa"rock on this list. BoDeans - DreamsTook this song long enough to build up to something, but once it finally did it wasn't all that bad. The Hooters would have made this a hit. The Smithereens - Drown in My Own TearsMuch more interesting song that the one we ranked. Steve Winwood - Put on Your Dancing ShoesPretty neat. This had more of that "Higher Love" vibe. Not something I could slot in between Poison and AC/DC, but wouldn't sound bad next to Duran Duran "Notorious" and Go West "King Of Wishful Thinking". This should have slayed on Pop. Hurricane - I'm on to YouCool song. Not too familiar with it. The most memorable part was the nanana's, but if you love Hair/Glam then you gotta give it a downlaod/Check. Triumph - Long Time GoneTriumph released some great album rock in the early 80's. "Fight The Good Fight" , "Lay It On The Line". This was alright, but they lost that Magic Power. Kenny Loggins - Nobody's FoolCaddyshack II was a horrible movie. Not even Chevy Chase could save that trainwreck. This song kinda captures that magic of early Kenny Loggins but somehow sounds a bit dated and forgettable. love that chorus tho. The Rainmakers - SnakedanceThis is hokey as F U C K. I can get into that chorus tho so I guess I can't give it that bad a grade. and the rock star of the night belongs to .....Poison - Fallen AngelI am sorely disgusted once again at mainstream radio format. peak #32. Can I get a big fat WTF? lI mean this was a smash hit all over the radio and MTV. Great storytelling with that Hollywood rags to riches to rags again but with a happy ending story, and the MV went with the songs theme. Brett Michaels sounding better than ever, and C.C DevIlle just slams it out of the park with that guitar solo. I always loved how raw Poison's guitar works sounded. MV with a knockout actress. What more can you ask for? Add that to the little known fact that I just happen to love Rock songs with the word "Angel" in the title. Definitely another song I would have slotted in my top 10.

Thanks to House Lannister we are now up to 7 lists! I know that campbellssoup and Juanca are working on their rankings as well. Red had also said that he might participate but we'll have to wait and see. If anyone else is thinking about submitting be sure to let me know soon. I'll still accept any rankings I receive until I've heard from all the posters mentioned.

EXTRAS PART 10
The Church - Reptile This should have been the one we got to rank on mainstream Rock chart. Makes much more sense. Loved it on Alt and I might have given it the highest vote on this Mainstream Rock Rd too.
Joni Mitchell - Snakes and Ladders Song has some Steve Winwood vibes but Joni's vocals tune me out. her vocals are not consistent and she sounds like different people. Or is there some other vocals in here? Its all kinda weird.
Eurythmics - I Need a Man I like this song for Alt, but I don't think it works on mainstream rock. I'll probably give "Would I Lie To You" a big rank if it shows up on mainstream tho.
Kingdom Come - Living Out of Touch This band used the same fonts as Whitesnake, and pretty much sounded like them too. I don't mind that too much, but Hair/ Glam Metal had so much variety you didn't really need to sound like another band to be good. That being said. This song is ok, but not very memorable at all.
Little Feat - Long Time Till I Get Over You I normally don't care for this band. They are just tooo everything and it all gets too chaotic for me, but I'm digging this toned down bluesy Bad Company vibe they got going on here.
AC/DC - That's the Way I Wanna Rock 'N' Roll AC/DC that didn't even get fair play on MTV. This whole album flopped hard among the Metal crowd. To me this whole riff sounds uninspired. If you want your riff to carry your song all the way to the end at least make it a memorable riff. I'm just glad we didn't get to rank this. I'd hate to slot AC/DC below top 50.
Colin James - Voodoo Thing Something about Collin's sound was very cool. He sounded a bit like Richard Marx, but with more gasoline added to his music.
torn between which of these last two is my Rockstar of the night.
Winger - Madalaine First song I ever heard from this band. You know you are a Winger fan if you dig the first song you even hear from them. I got lucky it was this song, because it really showcased Kip's vocal power for the genre. MTV also propelled this band to stardom with heavy airplay of their songs. While Kip is a great bass player Reb Beach is a very underrated guitarist. That's him of that short but powerful solo in the song. He has also played guitar for Dokken and Whitesnake.
KISS - Reason to Live The powerballad of the night goes to the immortal Kiss. This song was robbed by the snobby Billboard and music industry in general. The band pissed someone off in the industry and they got punished untill 1989. While this song was peaking at #64 on Billboard and bottom 30's on Rock charts it was #1 for months on MTV's Daily TRL. I remember cuz it was my favorite show on MTV and I'd rush home form school to watch it. Now while it's not the Kiss sound of the 70's it shows how well they could write a Glam Powerballad that sounded better than most of the other ones charting at the time. It was co written by Desmond Child who is partly responsible for the biggest Metal hits of the 80s', so i t's a perfect Rock ballad in every way. and would have been one of my top 5 songs on this list.

Alright, while we're waiting...
My number one is a song y'all didn't get to rank for Alternative. My number 100 song is a cover.
How well did the Alternative winner do on my list? Stay tuned.
