Sorry everyone! I had high hopes to submit and join, and then things got to hell with work and other stuff happening in DC right now. Anyway. In my halfway done ranking my bottom 5 were Sittin, Silvio, Rooty, (to be revealed), and Open, so yeah! Tear it up, Take it so hard, and Rock’n roll were in my bottom 15. The other ones were in my bottom 30. So good first set of reveals overall

And we start with the bottom 10 of the 1988 Active Chart:
100. Otis Redding's Family Should Sue---Michael Bolton does have some moments here and there. But when he does covers, he gets into the sap headfirst and he's basically unlistenable. This excruciating take on Dock of the Bay may be his worst cover yet. Even when he tries to vocal riff, it's just painful to listen to.
99. You Talk Too Much (Yes Dear)---It's kind of painful listening to Thorogood basically telling his woman to shut up for a good 2-3 minutes. Then, the punchline comes and it's a howler as George proves to be just as domesticated as any house husband would be. Too bad the joke sucks.
98. Talkin' About---Something was missing from this...and it apparently was Lake. The synths by Emerson are kind of the weak point of the song, but maybe a bass could have helped cover that up?
97. Rock n Roll Strategy (Hoochie Koo)---Dunno if having weak vocals was part of the strategy or not for 38 special, but it ensured getting an early boot.
96. Why Keith Richards Shouldn't Go Solo Part 2---Maybe I'm being generous, but I think you can count all the times solo members of Rolling Stone worked on their own with one hand. Those vocals on Take It So Hard probably are to blame for this one.
95. Stand Up---Honestly, this is the first time I've heard David Lee Roth on his own and I didn't cringe. Maybe he should stick to straight forward rock and leave the lounge act behind? The vocals held this one back, but both his other ones did better by me.
94. Tear It Up---The vocals were kind of the weak link here, but compared to the other songs we've heard so far, they're still decent. I can think of worse songs that are still alive.
93. Open All Night---I get that if you hated Keep Your Hands to Yourself, then nothing will work for you here. The instruments threatened to make this my first top half loss. Too bad the vocals couldn't quite keep up.
92. WTF was that title---On the one hand, this may be time to start paying attention to JCM and his output. It's going to get better from here. But I hope who gave it this title got canned because the chorus kept this song from clicking at all.
91. Silvio---And my first taste of Dylan outside of Masked and Anonymous (a terrible film that Dylan shouldn't be blamed for as much as the writing and direction). And you know what? It was one of those songs where everything was decent, but the effort took it to another level. And I dodge a second top half reveal barely.

100. (Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay - Michael Bolton Still A nice pop song, but I don't think it has much place on this RD./ Hence my rank couldn't be more than mid 80's
99. You Talk Too Much - George Thorogood & the Destroyers passable, but I'm realizing there really wasn't much to George and co. after "Bad To The Bone".
98. Talkin' Bout - 3 Considering the names involved this was pretty unmemorable.
97. Rock & Roll Strategy - 38 Special Not as bad as you all make it seem, but not very good either. Most of the suff I liked didn't make the top 100 so this got reluctantly pushed into my top 50.
96. Take It So Hard - Keith Richards Some artists just need the rest of their band members to make them sound good, and who told Keith he had a singing voice?
95. Stand Up - David Lee Roth If past rank downs have taught me anything it's that Dave wouldn't fare well here, but I still think this is a jam. Probably one of his best off that record. If anything this song had a killer bass line and a picture perfect Party rock music video.
94. Tear It Up - Robin Trower This song did very little for me. Sounded like a pooor version of the Fabulous Thunderbirds
93. Open All Night - The Georgia Satellites I never was a fan of this band's vocals, but this one was just terrible from all sides.
92. Rooty Toot Toot - John Mellencamp This is definitely the weakest of the Mellencamp jams on this list. Music is pretty decent, but I liked the song better when it was titled "Cherry Bomb"
91. Silvio - Bob Dylan Bob is one of those vocal wonders I never could stomach. He sits pretty tank at the edge of my tank with his brand of Folka toot toot

Randy's only song to reach the rock charts and it was a #1 hit too 84
It's Money That Matters Randy Newman

A quick look at the dishonorable mentions of 1988 Active:
90. Born to be Bad---Doc hit it on the head. There's not much to George besides that one song (although Drinking Alone might prove to be a good test of that). A bit better than Shut Up Woman, though.
89. I'm Not Your Man---If only those vocals kept up with the instruments here, I think it would have done much better.
88. Ten Men Workin'---I think I don't mind Neil Young. But this just feels like a bad ripoff of George Thorogood. And those vocals DID NOT help.
87. Welcome Me Home---Wouldn't have guessed that THIS would have been my first top half loss. But this is how you tackle a solo project. Way better than that Keith Richards nonsense.
86. Wasting My Time---Nor was this the first one I thought would leave either. Solid enough number from Page.
85. Superstitious---I found this to be a decent tune all the way round. I can think of 5-10 songs that deserve to leave before this one.
84. It's Money That Matters---Outside of the Toy Story songs, I don't think Randy Newman fits well into the popular world. Not a huge fan of I Love LA. But it's miles better than this attempt at a Don Henley number.

Doc may have put my 100 in his top 10, but I’m disappointed in the rest of you for letting it escape the bottom 20

Having heard both the Jim Price and Max Bacon versions of this song, I must say that I do prefer Max Bacon's vocals on this 82

Red Blue Jeans is decent without anything distinguishing that would bump it up.
