It peaked at #32 on Billboard in April. The song was written by Casey Beathard and former NFL punter Chris Mohr, who spent the majority of his career with the Buffalo Bills (had to mention that lol).
The single was Travis' last with Columbia Nashville. He would chart next with Category 5 Records in 2007.
Really good song but too many others I liked more. The singles got better off My Honky Tonk History, with the lead single maybe being the worst of Travis' career.

#28. Chris Cagle - "I'd Be Lying"
Total Points: 610 Average: 46.9 Year Released: February, 2004 Mediabase Peak: #40 Billboard Peak: #39 Rankings:bboat11 - 16 gardyfan - 23 Kanenrá:ke - 23 gonecountry - 25 .indulgecountry - 27 LBTrocks - 27 Cody Wants Out... - 30 kw9461 - 51 someguy - 65 sabre14 - 68 castleoblivion26 - 74 tim - 81 Darkest Hour - 100 Following: bigfan101"I'd Be Lying" was released as the third and final single off Chris Cagle's self-titled sophomore album in February of 2004. It peaked at #39 on Billboard in April. The song was written entirely by Chris Cagle.
Another case of a good song I had to put in the 60's because this rankdown is so strong. I don't hate anything in my top 100. I'm surprised this one bombed so bad on the charts, considering Chris' previous two singles were top 5 hits.

#27. Jeff Bates - "One Second Chance"
Total Points: 604 Average: 46.4 Year Released: May, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #47 Billboard Peak: #59 Rankings:gonecountry - 4 Kanenrá:ke - 4 sabre14 - 7 kw9461 - 14 tim - 41 Darkest Hour - 43 bboat11 - 59 castleoblivion26 - 60 someguy - 69 gardyfan - 70 Cody Wants Out... - 73 LBTrocks - 79 .indulgecountry - 81 Following: bigfan101"One Second Chance" was released as the third and final single off Jeff Bates' Leave the Light On album in early May of 2006; although, the radio version of "Long Slow Kisses" was also included on the record, which would be four total singles. "One Second Chance" peaked at #47 on Mediabase in June, but held on to the chart through July. The song was written by Arlis Albritton, Chris DuBois and Dave Turnbull.
Bates recorded the song because it closely related to his own experience. Jeff was once addicted to methamphetamine and arrested in 2001. He stole from friends to feed his habit, including friend and songwriter Kenny Beard, who helped produce his two RCA Nashville records. After spending time in jail and getting his life back together, he was given a second chance by RCA Nashville who signed him to a recording contract in 2002.
I love "The Love Song" and "Rainbow Man" off Jeff's debut album, but "One Second Chance" is right there as his best. I'm thrilled this made it so far. It's a phenomenal song.

#26. Wynonna Judd - "Flies on the Butter" (feat. Naomi Judd)
Total Points: 603 Year Released: January, 2004 Mediabase Peak: #33 Billboard Peak: #33 Rankings:someguy - 1 Darkest Hour - 2 tim - 10 kw9461 - 12 .indulgecountry - 15 Cody Wants Out... - 28 bboat11 - 35 Kanenrá:ke - 47 castleoblivion26 - 56 sabre14 - 82 gonecountry - 90 LBTrocks - 111 gardyfan - 114 Following: bigfan101"Flies on the Butter" (album title "Flies on the Butter (You Can't Go Home Again))" was released as the third single off Wynonna's What the World Needs Now Is Love album in January of 2004. It features her mom and former duo partner, Naomi Judd. It peaked at #33 in April. It was written by Chuck Cannon, Austin Cunningham and Allen Shamblin.
I think I prefer "Heaven Help Me" a little more but this is a good song, I just don't love it as much as many others in this rankdown. It was pretty cool to get Naomi back on a song with Wynonna for a radio single.

"I'd Be Lying" is gorgeous, nice to see Chris do well here!
I can't with that "Flies On The Butter" song. I just don't care for it at all. Glad it at least missed the top 20

Never been big on Chris Cagle, but "I'd Be Lying" was a really nice discovery.
"Flies on the Butter" is phenomenal lyrically (such a vivid picture it paints -- wow!) and the harmonies between the two were as beautiful as ever on it. Deserved much better on the charts than it got!

#25. John Pierce - "I'd Still Have You"
Total Points: 602 Average: 46.3 Year Released: January, 2006 Mediabase Peak: #49 Billboard Peak: #59 Rankings:kw9461 - 10 sabre14 - 24 LBTrocks - 34 Cody Wants Out... - 35 tim - 36 gonecountry - 38 bboat11 - 39 castleoblivion26 - 39 Darkest Hour - 52 someguy - 60 Kanenrá:ke - 69 .indulgecountry - 74 gardyfan - 92 Following: bigfan101"I'd Still Have You" was released as John Pierce's debut single off RCA Nashville the first week of January, 2006. It peaked at #49 on Mediabase in February. The song was John's only single for RCA Nashville as he left the label at the end of 2006. His shelved album was produced by Byron Gallimore.
Pierce is now a songwriter in Nashville, co-writing "Sweet Annie" by the Zac Brown Band, "Freedom" by Reba and "Buy That Man a Beer" by Jon Pardi. He's also crazy-addicted to fishing lol -- we follow one another on Instagram.
Great song. It's so country lol. I love the instrumentation, lyrics and production. It's amazing he only got one shot at radio. Thrilled this one did so well here.

It peaked at #45 on Mediabase in August. The song was written by Harvey McNalley, Troy Seals and Buck Moore. "Angels" was also Randy's final charting single.
The first time I heard this song was the last song played on Thunder Road Radio, which is an two-hour show that gives NASCAR news and plays current country singles. I was blown away. I totally didn't expect that hook. This song and "The Baby" by Blake Shelton are my two favorite country songs about mom.

It peaked at #36 in February of 2005. It was her highest-charting single at country radio since "When You Say Nothing at All" in 1995. It was written by Robert Lee Castleman.
Great song and maybe I could've ranked it a bit higher, but it was so hard since I love so many lol. The vocals and instrumentation are awesome, but it's Alison and Union Station, so that's always a given.

#22. Hanna-McEuen - "Something Like a Broken Heart"
Total Points: 581 Average: 44.6 Year Released: February, 2005 Mediabase Peak: #31 Billboard Peak: #38 Rankings:sabre14 - 2 gonecountry - 6 Kanenrá:ke - 10 kw9461 - 15 castleoblivion26 - 42 someguy - 44 tim - 44 bboat11 - 51 LBTrocks - 51 Darkest Hour - 54 .indulgecountry - 63 Cody Wants Out... - 93 gardyfan - 106 Following: bigfan101"Something Like a Broken Heart" was released as Hanna-McEuen's debut single in February of 2005. It peaked at #31 on Mediabase the last week of May. The song was written by Jaime Hanna, Robert Reynolds and Alan Miller. The song was off their self-titled debut album (and only album) for DreamWorks Nashville. After DreamWorks Nashville closed in September, Hanna-McEuen briefly moved to UMG's MCA Nashville through early 2006. They left MCA later that year, after releasing two more singles ("Tell Me" and "Ocean"). They disbanded after 2007.
Hanna-McEuen were comprised off Jaime Hanna and Jonathan McEuen. Both have been friends since childhood, with their dads co-founding the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Jaime Hanna joined Gary Allan's road band, while Jonathan McEuen has been working on solo music since. McEuen has also played guitar in The Mavericks.
One of my favorite country songs of the 2000's. I love everything about "Something Like a Broken Heart." It's got such great instrumentation and production and the lyrics and melody are superb. On the surface it looks like a simple heartbreak song, but it takes a few listens to truly appreciate its songwriting. It was so close to getting to the top 30 on Mediabase but was leapfrogged by LeAnn Rimes' "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way" the week it peaked at #31 lol.
I'll take this finish. It made it pretty far here.

It peaked at #38 on Mediabase in February of 2005. The song was written by Troy Johnson and Bonnie Baker. It was Sara's least-successful radio single since "Cryin' Game" in 1998.
Good song and I loved Sara's music during her prime, but I was always puzzled by this single choice. I thought for sure "Rockin' Horse" would get released if they were going with a fourth single off this album.

Restless was a very good album, but "Tonight" might be my least favorite song on the album. I'll never understand why it was a single.

#20. Erika Jo - "I Break Things"
Total Points: 549 Average: 42.2 Year Released: May, 2005 Mediabase Peak: #49 Billboard Peak: #53 Rankings:Cody Wants Out... - 2 LBTrocks - 11 castleoblivion26 - 17 someguy - 18 .indulgecountry - 19 tim - 34 sabre14 - 43 Kanenrá:ke - 52 gardyfan - 55 bboat11 - 60 gonecountry - 62 Darkest Hour - 69 kw9461 - 107 Following: bigfan101"I Break Things" was released as Erika Jo's debut single off Universal South Records in May of 2005. It peaked at #49 on Mediabase in late June. The song was off her self-titled, debut album. It was written by Monty Criswell and Wade Kirby.
Erika won the third season of Nashville Star in 2005 and immediately released "I Break Things" to country radio through Universal South Records. After her second single, "I'm Not Lisa" failed to chart later in 2005, she left the label by 2006.
Erika's album was decent but nothing groundbreaking, but "I Break Things" was great. It's so catchy. I love the melody and use of the fiddle.

#19. Matt Jenkins - "Bad as I Want To"

It peaked at #52 on Mediabase in late June, but held on to the chart through July. It never cracked the top 60 on Billboard. Matt would leave Universal South's roster by the end of the year.
Both "Bad as I Want To" and "King of the Castle" were off Matt's unreleased album, I'm Just a Man. He's now one of Nashville's premiere songwriters, penning multiple radio hits over the past decade.
I think Matt Jenkins was just one of those artists who was a victim of the numbers game at radio -- not all new artists can break through.
"Bad as I Want To" is a great song. Superb production and instrumentation. He's also got a heck of a voice and it's perfect for this kind of song.

Let me listen to The Last Thing She Said again to see why I rank that song high...I think it's the very unorthodox theme (hallucination?). Melodically it probably shouldn't be this safe/radio fodder though. Also pleasantly surprised that Sara Evans song is out already. It's quite lengthy and boring. The Top 20:Mark Chesnutt - "A Hard Secret to Keep" Tracy Lawrence - "Used to the Pain" George Strait - "Texas" Terri Clark - "Damn Right" Tracy Byrd - "Cheapest Motel" Randy Rogers Band - "Kiss Me In the Dark" I'm not even sure where I ranked any of these but I am thrilled to see all these get this far. I don't think any participant will tank that Terri Clark song. It could even win the whole thing. The two Tracys and RRB are in danger though.

It peaked at #48 on Billboard in February, but the single held on to the chart through most of March. This was Rhonda's most successful single at mainstream country radio.
Rhonda is known as one of the most talented and accomplished Bluegrass musicians. She's released 16 studio albums from 1990-2014.
Love Rhonda Vincent's music and this is a great song. It's too bad she couldn't get more chances to chart at mainstream radio, but she was briefly on Giant and Warner Bros. Nashville in the 90's.

This is probably the most forgotten single off Trent's debut album, but it's great, as is nearly all of his material. This one was on pace to be in the top 7-8, until the last couple ranks came in.

Super fun song and Josh's charming vocals really take it to the next level. It's not among my absolute favorites from Josh, but it's a great song that's always a welcomed listen. Loved the direction they took for the music video, too.

So thrilled and surprised to see Erika Jo's single make the top 20 here. I honestly would've pegged it as being out prior to the top 50, lol.
"Bad as I Want To" and "If Heartaches Had Wings" were two of my favorite discoveries. Happy to see them received so well by others, too!
Predictions for the next five out:
Rebecca Lynn Howard - "No One'll Ever Love Me" Tracy Lawrence - "Used to the Pain" Ashley Monroe - "Satisfied" Tracy Byrd - "Cheapest Motel" Randy Rogers Band - "Kiss Me In the Dark"

It peaked at #44 on Mediabase in May, but held on to the chart through most of June. The song was to be included on her album, Alive and Well for Arista Nashville but the album was shelved after the two singles failed to make an impact on the charts. Rebecca Lynn Howard was dropped from Arista's roster by September of 2005.
Howard first charted in 1999 for MCA Nashville at the age of 20 with "When My Dreams Come True." She charted six singles from 1999-2003 on MCA, including the top 10 Mediabase hit, "Forgive" in 2002. After leaving MCA, she signed with Arista to release "That's Why I Hate Pontiacs" and "No One'll Ever Love Me" in 2005. She released "Sing 'Cause I Love To" off Saguaro Road Records in 2008. In 2014, she joined the group Loving Mary.
Rebecca Lynn Howard is probably my favorite female artist who never quite made it on country radio. Such a strong and unique voice and she had the material. "No One'll Ever Love Me" isn't among my favorites from her but I still love it. I preferred "That's Why I Hate Pontiacs." I don't blame Arista trying two ballads with her, since her two 2003 singles were all kinds of upbeat but didn't do much either.
