"I Burned LA Down" may not technically be country, but it sure doesn't sound out of place in this rankdown! .indulgecountry advocated for this one to make it in, and I ended up bringing it in because it does offer a very unique sound that I figured some people would connect with, on top of Noah Cyrus' family connections to the genre. I really found this one pretty easy to listen to, as it has a really relaxing vibe to it. I feel like the stripped down rootsy harmonies add a lot to this one!

"Where We Started" really isn't very good at all... and calling it country is a huge stretch IMO.
"I Burned LA Down" has a cool vibe to it, but tbh this is not something I could listen to on a large scale.

Idk if it is just her voice or the country roots that run in her family, but this sounded like a country song to me immediately, albeit a modern one.

I can totally understand why "You and Jesus" was not a very strong contender here! It borrows so heavily from "Jesus Loves Me", which is like the most nursery-rhyme-y of all the Christian songs. I ALMOST hated it upon first listen when they started literally singing "Jesus loves me, this I know" in the chorus, but then I felt like they managed to turn it on its head in a cool way! Saying "You and Jesus love me, this I know" felt like an interesting way to borrow a classic hook and refresh it in a new way. Ultimately, my favorite thing about this one is how wonderful Walker County's vocals are I think they could have done better without having Gryndelwald interrupting them, but I still found myself enjoying it overall!

I like Walker County but "You and Jesus" wasn't good to me at all, I hated the "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so" sample cuz I've always hated that little jingle even as a kid lol. Pass on this one.

Glad that "how much a heart can hold" didn't make it out of the bottom 10 because man, was it atrocious. LeAnn sounds horrible on this (what on EARTH is that opening note?!) and the song is really, really bad. I hate these type of songs.

I feel like for much of the past decade LeAnn Rimes has only managed to record good songs by accident, so it shouldn't be any surprise to me that this one was pretty boring. I'm excited for a new album from her, nevertheless! Hopefully she has some jams in the works! I'm sure this one will grow on me, but it left no impression in a list this strong.

I do love LeAnn and her voice typically so I'm not sure what happened here, but to me she didn't really even sound like herself on this. I think she's just singing too high. Idk lol but I will definitely check out the new album because typically, I love a lot of her music and really love her vocals.

So many Pop songs have gotten slid into these things that I didn't bat an eyelash at a Noah Cyrus entry; at least it was for one of the best things she's done.

Whether you interpret this statement as a positive or a negative, this new Trey Lewis song is certainly no "Dicked Down in Dallas"...

I can only take Orville's crooning in small chunks because it gets monotonous to me very quickly but this might be the best thing I've heard from him yet.

Our first #1 loss incoming.... And it's a MULTI #1 loss!!!! Unfortunately for Kris Kringle and his friend tim, the first #1 loss is indeed shared between them :'( Orville Redenbacher kicks off our top 20 with another new song from his recent album drop. I've gotta say, I've been pretty impressed with his new stuff the last couple months, and this one frankly continued that trend nicely! Orville is such a unique vocalist that he takes some getting used to, but I've decided he's got quite a bit more talent to offer than what some of my first exposures to him led me to believe! I thought he was some old geezer because of the fact that he has hella old-man voice in his low range, but he sounds downright operatic when he really starts belting it out! It's such an odd dichotomy, but when the songs are right like they have been lately I kinda dig it.

Legit thought I stumbled into the "New Musical Theatre Releases RD" when listening to "Let Me Drown" lol. It was SO over-the-top and dramatic that I just couldn't. As I was listening to it I kept thinking, when on Earth would I ever use this song

I have unfortunately loved multiple Morgan Wallen songs as of late ("7 Summers," "Sand In My Boots," "Wasted On You") so I am very happy to discover one that I think is absolutely atrocious and that I know will never grow on me. I've never liked Morgan's voice, but I think he sounds especially awful here and any time he tries anything even resembling a falsetto note it is so cringe.
It's *possible* I might like "Don't Think Jesus" as a song if someone else sang it, as I don't think the actual melody is too terrible... the way Morgan sings it definitely makes it terrible for me though.

Okay, don't judge me for my rank... I am SO mad that this f**king guy decided to start recording good music after proving to the world that he was irredeemable trash. Like, I'm pretty sure Jesus also didn't go out and thrust his tongue down barely-legal throats in the middle of a pandemic while his abandoned girlfriend sat at home taking care of their newborn baby all by herself, but when has that stopped you from being an asshole?
At the end of the day though, this song blew me away. I would have LOVED it if it had ended up in the hands of someone like Tim McGraw or Chris Young, but it might honestly be my favorite thing I have ever heard from Morgan Wallen, tbh... Despite hating Morgan's voice overall, lol.

Orville Peck is almost always a "no" from me. 👎
Sad to see LeAnn tanked. I thought her vocal was as effervescent as ever on "Hold." For me, I find no flaws at all and I'm truly captivated by this song and found no part of it in any way 'boring' much less poorly sung.
Noah Cyrus is kinda country-adjacent. I recall reading that her "July" song from a few years ago got some play on the smaller market country stations, and she of course had a full-fledged duet single with Jimmie Allen not terribly long ago @ the format, even though it flopped. Ironically "I Burned LA Down" sounds countrier than that Jimmie Allen track, lol.
