"Go Around" isn't among Kane's most esteemed tracks from this series, but he still got a few top 10s at least and managed to place right around the halfway point! I LOVE the fiddle in this song, but otherwise it is a tad on the forgettable side. Still, I am glad that Kane is doing his part to try to keep the fiddle and steel in his music lately!

BRELAND finally dropped a banger in "Told You I Could Drink" and y'all still tanked it to high heaven. 😒

20. Another Dylan Scott song that I think is decent at least sound wise. Lyrically this is so trite though. 19. I like the chorus melody a lot, but the song title might be one of the most vague of all time, and it is a bit too obvious when you get it. 18. This is just a less catchy version of Fall In Love with forced pauses on the song title but not as melody-lacking as Rock And A Hard Place. 17. I don't like Lady A, 'nuff said. Also don't really like the theme. 16. The fiddle is quite cool as it got an almost Celtic vibe, but the pop elements (the autotune in pre-chorus and the drum machines) ruin it for me.

Well, your highest ranker for Sykamore isn't going to be a surprise While most of her songs tend to be growers, "Pinto" is one of the most immediate ones she has put out for me yet. This one and "Just 4 July" are definitely the highlights of the new material on her album, although neither will manage to replace "Record High" as my favorite from her. Also, I find it low-key hilarious to hear someone in their 20s making puns about engine fires in relation to a Pinto. Like sure, that's one of the things they were most famous for, but that was also literally so long ago now that you'd have to go back twice her age to even get to the time period when that was happening. Like, that is a life experience that just plain none of us even have at this point 😂

"Spring Cleaning" is still one of my least favorites from Maddie & Tae, but it has been growing on me! M&T are just so talented that I have really high standards for them. My biggest problem with it now is that it isn't going to age well, with references to Marie Kondo and such that are going to be outdated unnecessarily quickly, kinda like when people mention technology from a very specific time period like briefcase phones

“Where It Ends” is another fantastic tune from Bailey, it actually may be my fav behind “Fall In Love”
“Spring Cleaning” is a JAM and easily secured a place in my top 5! So catchy

"Ex Appeal" was a pretty nice discovery imo! I can see it giving off polarizing vibes similar to some of Kaylee Shorr's stuff, like for instance it kinda reminds me of "He's Just Not That Into You". Which is not everybody's favorite sound, so I am not surprised to see her stumble outside of the top 10. Nevertheless, I liked the "no"s in the background of the chorus, the way that every line seemed to be pretty wordy (it helped the song to flow in a really unique way, in the verses especially), and found the whole thing to overall be quite catchy! I might have to check Lauren Weintraub out more!

I wouldn’t have disliked “Ex Appeal” as much if it wasn’t for the obnoxious NO! in the chorus… repeatedly. Pass.

I have no idea what some of you continue to hear in Sunny Sweeney. "Married Alone" is so dull, it may as well be one of Vince Gill's solo ballads And her voice without the mainstream polish that she used to have just sounds sooooo disengaged and amateur.

I really liked the instrumental of "Just A Bordertown", and then it also struck me just how much Valerie Ponzio reminds me of a modern version of Deana Carter. Seriously, there are a handful of places in this vocal performance where she sounds JUST like Deana!! Not always, but frequently enough to where I can't stop noticing it now!
Also, how awesome to finally have someone adding some hispanic representation to this series!

“Just A Bordertown” was another song I thought was pretty solid but was brought down by the vocals 🤷♀️

“Off the Ground” was the right choice to include in this Rankdown off her ep

We kick off the top 10 with Brooke Eden! Her new EP is so great I honestly had like three songs I wanted to include: this one, "Knock", and "Heartless". I almost chose "Heartless" for the epic steel guitar and powerful vocal, but in the end I went with "Off The Ground" because I felt like something a little "catchier" could benefit Brooke here. Of course "Knock" would have also accomplished the same purpose. Ugh, she's just so good!! And I really love that her new music seems to stray closer to her country roots than she used to! There is just such delightful steel all over all of these songs

Despite Ashley Cooke having a boring name and "getting into" having the most nondescript title of all time, I actually found myself really digging this! "getting into" has a chorus that wormed its way into my head and has pretty much stayed there ever since I first listened to it! And her sound seems to be pretty unquestionably country compared to some of her peers. I'm eager to see what happens with her career. I included "back in the saddle" in next month's rankdown simply because she did so well this month, and I want to see if she can have another strong showing!

Speaking of newer ladies who are undeniably country... Catie Offerman continues to be the major frontrunner of that category!! I have been loving her sound so far! Unfortunately "Get a Dog" is my least favorite from her so far, and I think that is mostly because it just comes across as a novelty song. The melody is also just not one that begs to be listened to on repeat imo. I still love her overall sound though and will be eagerly awaiting whatever comes next!!

"getting into" is fine but it's definitely no "Never Til Now" lol.
"Get A Dog" was pretty terrible, perfect example of why I say I hate harmonica music lol. That melody it is playing is HIDEOUS
