Okay WOW. This is the first reveal thus far that I'm genuinely shocked by. This is a BOP and suuuuuper traditional country! I thought this would be an easy top 10 lock given the participant pool. I am so confused by this being ranked so low, like.... literally wut?? The vocals, instrumentation, lyrics... this is an outright country music jam.

I thought Chickens was a good example of a song about doin' it without being so explicit. Rather enjoyed it.

#18 is not a great introduction to this series for Jo Dee Messina, but "Just To Be Loved" is definitely not quite up to her exceptional standards of her hitmaking days. I really like this one, but can definitely see the repetition rubbing people the wrong way. Can't WAIT to see what else she has cooking though! Hopefully whatever's next brings her to the top 10 here.

It was sooooo nice to have something new from JDM again!! That said, despite her vocals sounding great and the song being really catchy, it still felt too fluffy and beneath her where she's at in her career. I want something with way more meat on it, and I hope she doesn't keep us waiting long.

I wanted to love this but the vocals just felt underwhelming and it had a bit of a demo-y feel to it. Felt like a bootleg Thompson Square.

"The Town In Your Heart" has a good energy level, and I feel like Lori McKenna's voice works pretty well for this song! It plays to her strengths, for sure. Unfortunately, Darkest Hour takes our 3rd consecutive #1 loss as we kick off the top half! |

I thought "Silverado" was a really pleasant and easy-listening vibe, which I feel like is the impression I have had for most of David's most recent music. I like this a LOT more than whatever he was doing with songs like "Whatever She's Got" when he was still trying to cling to relevance!

"Young Love" is a nice change of pace from Chris, imo! The uptempo vibes are infectious, and I feel like the whole arrangement just allows for more cool instrumental talent than his usual bland arrangements do!

I feel like whoever requested "When Emma Falls In Love" lead me wrong! Lmao I'm SHOCKED to see Taylor miss the top 10! Personally I think this one is incredible, but the majority found it to be a pretty middling effort from this month.
I kinda wish I had chosen "I Can See You" because it was the big fan favorite, but I ultimately decided it wasn't country enough. (Of course not a big deal when Tanner Adell is in the same rankdown with whatever that was, but lmao yay for hindsight!) And I ALMOST went with my personal favorite "Electric Touch" (that chorus is MONEY!!!), but Fall Out Boy's inclusion is such a dumb waste of an otherwise incredible song imo...

I love Chris Young, but I prefer songs like Tomorrow or Sober Saturday Night. This was all fight. At least Chris had the good sense to go third person and not be the guy out in the parking lot. I'm still a bit iffy on these interpolations.
