LOVE the intentional country arrangement of this one! But the chorus is just sooooo melodically repetitive. This is still several steps in the right direction for Dan + Shay, but I feel like this placement is just about right.

“We Should Get Married” is a nice and much needed change of pace for Dan + Shay, and it is fairly catchy, but also kind of annoying and I still don’t like their vocals lol. I don't totally hate it tho, which is why it is in my top 15 lol.

I'm not totally sure why "Walkin' Shoes" didn't get more top-half love, but it does see our second #1 loss from LBTrocks! I think this one has a really nice dark vibe to it (explaining why it was Flops' #1 lol), and I did consider it for my own top 10! That's always such competitive territory though for me in these rankdowns... But it definitely could have easily belonged in the top 15 imo. |

Of course y'all would manage to do this one dirty!
This was EASILY the standout for me on this list (as much as I ADORE my #2)
"Walkin' Shoes" has an exquisite melody. Her vocals on the song are simply to DIE for, the way she sings "let him eat the dust and go find someone new" especially in that last chorus is simply HEAVENLY. What a masterpiece, and we managed to screw it over. Sad!

Similar to July's list, the Turnpike Troubadours have submitted one of the most well-done country arrangements of the month! The steel guitar in this song has a particularly beautiful tone to my ears. The only reason it is #18 on my list is the relative strength of everything else, as this was definitely a contender for my own top 15!

A beautiful song with two strong vocalists! This one isn't an immediate standout from this list by any means, but it kept climbing higher on my list the more I listened to everything.

John Morgan has yet to win Pulse over, and I have been inclined to start including him less... But when indulge requested this one, I thought this was easily his most immediate song yet! I instantly fell in love with the steel guitar, and I could 100% hear George Strait singing this, which is always a great thing for me!

John Morgan has yet to win Pulse over, and I have been inclined to start including him less... But when indulge requested this one, I thought this was easily his most immediate song yet! Kylie Morgan is one of my least favorite newer female vocalists, but this one really fits her vibe well! It grew on me more the more I heard it. I think this would be a good one for her to attempt sending to radio.

Kylie Morgan's debut is A+. I've really become a big fan since it dropped. This one is one of the best on the record, too. Sounds like a solid option if they ever decide to finally try her at country radio again.

"Cold Summer in San Antone" is fantastic... that melody and instrumentation is simply gorgeous. His voice is so good on it too.
"A Few Hearts Ago" is SO catchy, but I ran out of room in my top 10 lol.

Fun fact, I initially had "Remember Me Well" at #11 but last minute bumped it up to 10 lol.
Anyway, I was really loving the melody on this one. Like a lot. It took me by surprise, lol. Great song.

Initially the only reason I included this one was because it was a pre-release track. It didn't wow me the way that the other pre-release tracks did. But narrowly missing the top 10 is not at all a bad finish for a male artist, as indulge pointed out with John Morgan! It's not one of Tim's best though, as proven by the fact that he has been one of those male artists who is able to set his eyes on the top 5 when he has the right song (see "7500 OBO", "Standing Room Only", "Hey Whiskey", and "I Called Mama")

The way you endlessly spell Abby Anderson's name wrong kills me. "And her name is ABBY!!! That's Anybody But You!!!!"
The funny thing is, "Abby" is what is natural in my mind... But I had a student who spelled it "Abbie" a couple years ago and I apparently did too good of a job retraining myself to spell it that way to where I always second-guess myself and default to that now 😂

Kicking off the top 10 we have Cody Johnson's latest! I know I have said this in multiple places now, but I can't listen to this one without hearing Tim McGraw's "Die By My Own Hand"... Which unfortunately takes a nearly identical chorus melody and makes it a lot smoother. This one sounds so clunky and square to me by comparison... Everything just hits so perfectly on a beat, making this feel a bit formulaic and regimented, while Tim's has more off-beats. Idk, the difference is subtle, but it makes me feel like this one is more singsongy and cheesy or something, while Tim's is more dramatic.
