Abby Anderson is a little bit of a hit-or-miss artist in this series. But I always feel inclined to give her a chance because every once in awhile she finds something totally fantastic. And that is absolutely the case with "Highway Cry"!!! This actually jumped immediately into my favorite song from her upon first listen. Would have easily been my #1 in a weaker month, but this one had a lot of high-end competition... But I love the lyrics, the vocal performance, the arrangement, the melody, the single cover... Everything about it just comes together just right for me.

“Highway Cry” has to be one of my favorites from Abby Anderson so far. It’s just fantastic, and if she were a bigger name there’s no doubt in my mind that it would be a massive hit. (EDIT:  @ you capitalizing her first name, lmfao.) |

A whopping THREE #1s as well as a top 5 vote from nearly half of us helped Zach and Kacey to be a very strong top 10 contender in this rankdown. They were a minor top 5 contender, but ultimately the competition proved to be a little too strong for a song as polarizing as this to hang on any longer.
I've gotta say, Zach Bryan may by far be the WORST vocalist I have ever heard, but this is probably the best song I have ever heard from him... I definitely wasn't even close to putting it any closer to last place...which is a pretty hefty compliment coming from me! I'd even go so far as to say that I am starting to like this?!!!?

Never expected in a million years for Kacey fucking Musgraves to EVER have a #1 hit on the Hot 100, and I’m still in utter shock that this song gave it to her. If it was to be any other song, I’m glad it was this one. I can see some people having issues with the sparse production and/or Zach’s voice, but I love this song. It was a home run for me.

I love what this has done for Kacey and I want to love it, but Zach Bryan's voice is just... putrid. I will say however that this is the best I've liked him thus far!

Based on her previous performances with this EP, you may be as surprised as I am to see Kelsea missing the top 5! "How Do I Do This" is the new song that closes out the final chapter of the divorce EP, seeing Kelsea moving on and trying to find love again. It is a positive and hopeful song, although the anxiety and worry is also palpable in her delivery. This is just so relatable and real, and has everything that we loved about the other songs on the EP! I think this one just ran into some rather stiff competition in the top 5!!!

This was such a strong month for the George Strait copycats!! 🔥🔥🔥 There are THREE of them in this top 5, which just has me feeling all kinds of country fan feelings lol.
William Michael Morgan is by far the one who shocked me the most, as I have not historically had much of a reason to pay much attention to him. He's always just been kinda "there", with a great sound and middling song choices. But this one genuinely captivated me the first time I heard it! I am thrilled to see it in the top 5!!

Weird inversion title aside, In Walked You has great neo-trad country melody. It also gives major album closer vibe so hopefully it is in whatever project he releases next.

Every song on Carrie's new Deluxe version of D&R is awesome! I love this album overall. While it has a few filler songs, the Deluxe songs are almost all good enough to beat the filler, imo. Again, the competition just proved to be too stiff for her to do any better!
