Sadly, but probably unsurprisingly, LBTrocks is our first to lose his #1 and early into the RD. Rip. Reyna Roberts is a divisive figure in the country scene, similar to Walker Hayes who just bowed out before her. She pulled in three additional top 10 ranks, but also racked up the lower ranks which sunk her, including a pair of last-places that were the last two lists to submit, causing her to tumble 1-2 spots as we crossed the finish line. For me, this is one of her better songs in awhile. The beat is really strong and the visual nice. It's also funnily enough one of 4 songs this month that have a name as the title, though this one is a bit of a half-truth since it's actually a knock on the term Miranda Rights rather than Ms. Lambert, lol.

Up next is Tyler Hubbard's latest solo radio single. Our first song to show up with zero last place ranks, it also lacked the up top support to go further with only two top 10s. tim loses a top 3. For me, this is your typical inoffensive radio fodder, but I find it to be a lot catchier and a more enjoyable listen than his first two singles since FGL disbanded.

Thomas Rhett & Morgan Wallen's collaborative tribute to grandmas rounds out our bottom 6. The song that made it to #20 snuck ahead by just 1 point, so it was a close finish.
"Mamaw's House" managed four top 10 placements, but its seven bottom 3 ranks tipped the scales the other way. The song is... fine, but ultimately it's just pretty sleepy imo.

Why Jerrod Niemann ever saw success is a mystery to me, I have liked 2 of his songs (his first 2 singles) but his voice is just awful.

If even a song about Taylor Swift wasn’t enough to get my Swiftie self to enjoy it, then…I just really don’t think anything from Walker Hayes will ever stick for me. Sorry to those who love him, but I just can’t with him. Reyna disappointed the hell out of me. With the lyric referencing “Gunpowder & Lead,” combined with the title, I was certain this was gonna be a tribute to MirLam…only to find out she’s talking about the thing cops say when they arrest you. The way I keep collecting these perfect rankings like infinity stones this month, lol. Off to a fabulous start for me. I won’t even say what I think about “Cancel.” I think it’s pretty obvious. Still working on October don’t worry lol

Miranda-- As stated, thought it was Lambert, but was Rights. Otherwise was ok.
Back Then Right Now-- not terrible but just nit a T.hub. fan. Plus Tenille Arts says hey.
Mamaw's House-- Sweet, even though Tracy Lawrence says "where the yellow bulb at?" Familar ground, sure, but I enjoyed it. Seems more like Morgan featuring Thomas than Thomas featuring Morgan.

Walker Hayes surely has some bad songs, but he did not deserve to flop in these two months. Both Good With Me and Taylor Swift are well-written songs with strong melody, and deserved to perform better than this.
Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen are easily two of my favorite male country singers, so I was expecting to like their collab a lot better. It's not bad, but it is quite underwhelming.

Good to see nothing of value has been lost from a mid rankdown yet.
Randy Houser did not see a major reason why RMNOR blew up is because of the "raw" production, not this generic "outlaw" country rock sound. At least we don't have any more messy Hot 100 #1 for now.
South of the Border reminds me of these cheesy Latin songs in 2000s Triple A rankdowns.
Taylor Swift (song) is just an example of SEO, but at least it's better than any other songs that I have heard from this EP so far.
There are good hick-hop songs but Reyna Roberts is not good at making them.
Thought both Tyler Hubbard and Thomas Rhett/Morgan Wallen songs would be higher. As much as both songs are blatant copycats, Tyler Hubbard's music itself is now perfect radio fodder and TR/MW can feel sweet if Thought You Should Know did not happen. There are also worse songs remaining so...

"Cancel" is just such a pandering mess, and it 100% didn't have to be. At its very core, the message of this song is a wholesome celebration of family values. Holding tighter to the ones you love to get through hard times, raising your kids to know that they are not superior to anybody else, etc. We should all get behind that! But the problem is, the "hard times" to which the lyrics refer are almost entirely composed of Christians feeling victimized by modern society. Newsflash: People who think differently from you are not automatically out to get you! Like, the absence of church in the public school system ≠ religious persecution!!! I still trust that most people understand that in theory, but songs like this sure go out of their way to amplify the voice of the few who don't... When you phrase it like modern society is trying to "cancel" the god-fearing man, you're very clearly using coded and charged language to get a very specific reaction.
In this case, the most likely reaction would be the song being a complete and utter flop, until somebody on Randy's team cries "see, they ARE trying to cancel Christian values!!! They don't value hard working families!!!!" and then all the closeted furries who think they are lions will go out and stream it all the way to #1. It hasn't happened yet, of course, but I'm still not willing to say it's outside the realm of possibility...
And of course message aside, the sonic aspects of this song are straight up whack! To me there is something so off-putting about Randy's delivery here. It just doesn't sound good.

Also, "Mamaw's House"... I like the song, but I can't get past how nonsensical the hook is if given even an ounce of thought. The world would be a much better place "if every town had a mamaw's house..."
Well guess what. Every town DOES have a mamaw's house!!! Even if it's not Thomas' specific mamaw, I can guarantee that there is at least one mamaw in every town who represents the same metaphorical ideals of support and fundamental goodness that this song celebrates.
(And unfortunately, that has done absolutely nothing for the overall state of the world...)

"Chevrolet" is a great cover, and I do enjoy the current trend within the country genre to recycle classic songs. I feel like I'm seeing Jelly Roll a little too much these days, but he is definitely helping the chart performance of this song, so I can take it.

Jelly Roll is the male answer to Lainey Wilson at country radio currently: anyone and everyone is choosing to collaborate with him! Dustin Lynch is the latest to do it and release the duet in question to radio as the lead-off to Killed the Cowboy. Dustin has long-since been a divisive country artist on Pulse, so it was no surprise this one struggled to gain traction. That said, it (narrowly) escaped the bottom 6. This song's interpolation of the melody from "Drift Away" is the latest in the popular trend at country right now.
It landed in the top 3 of 3 poster's lists, but also got a whopping five #25 ranks.

"Selfish Man" is one of Justin Moore's recent releases, and it randomly was tacked onto his Late Nights and Longnecks album from 2019, even though he's released two records (albeit short 8-track ones...) since then. That said, I personally thought this was one of his better outputs recently! But otoh, it didn't stack up against the strength of this list so a #20 is the best I could personally give it. "Selfish" landed in the top 10 for five posters, but none of them were top 5 ranks.

IIRC, this song was part of an exclusive CD release (Target or Wal-mart, not sure). I guess the exclusivity passed and they put it out digitally. Anywho, this is a straight up JMo love song and I liked it pretty well.

"Chevrolet" being catchy can't even be credited for it's own, it's due to another song, and not this songs own merits. Oh and everything about this song fails beyond that for me. Dustin Lynch and Jelly Roll have no chemistry together singing, Dustin Lynch sounds so monotone and the lyrics are so painful and basic ("Give me the dirt roads, the Brooks & Dunn if you want a country boy you just found one.") a 10 year old could write it or AI.
Will this song be a big hit? Absolutely, but just because a song is very successful does not mean it's automatically a good song. Which for me, this isn't.

Anne Wilson and K. Michelle tied in points, so the tie was broken by K. Michelle's song having two #1s (courtesy of myself and @wave0), the first #1 casualties since LBTrocks with his earlier loss. Ironically, both artists in question are primarily known for being in different genres of music -- Christian for Anne, RnB for K. -- but these mark forays into the genre of country. Anne's was released to country radio, while K's was tacked onto her reported "final" RnB album from a few months ago as a bonus cut. She is working on a country record that is expected to be her next LP. "Rain in the Rearview" is a song that has grown on me a lot since its release. Her voice is a bit... unique, but it offers some charm. "Tennessee" is just a banger imo. K. Michelle is my favorite RnB vocalist and I LOVE her voice, so I am ecstatic to see her making the move to country. I'm really excited about what else is to come from her.

Rain in the Rearview-- I liked this. I really liked Hey Girl and her Gospel stuff.
Tennessee-- I didn't like the "Goin' Back, Goin' back" part, but I liked the rest so it got a decent spot on my list. Looking forward to the album release, too.

I expected some top rankers for Chevrolet but not GSJ especially given his constant remarks about Dustin Lynch's music and this is really the same.
Selfish Man reminds me of some saccharine 90s country ballads so that's a pass from me.
The one long note in Rain in the Rearview reminds me of Heart Like A Truck. Decent song considering the quality of the list.
Same as nuggie99 I don't like the "goin back" part in Tennessee at all, and not like her vocals either.

I think there is quite a lot of potential for cool things to happen with this modern sampling trend, but it absolutely KILLS me how many of these songs dumb down the original song and turn it into a laundry list of country stereotypes. We have a dirt road, we have a truck, we have beer, we have a hot girl who likes dirt roads and trucks and beer... Like this could not possibly be any more formulaic and stereotypical if it tried! The original song is not particularly deep, but it is a celebration of how music helped the narrator get through all the confusion of life, which is a memorable and unique theme...and now these songwriters have completely taken all the uniqueness out of it and made it a boring pile of stereotypes for no reason whatsoever other than the financial potential that will come from mining such an iconic melody. There is literally nothing "inspired" about this nonsense.
Like I said, I feel that this trend has a lot of really cool potential. But it is NOT going to come anywhere close to reaching it if Dustin Lynch, Cole Swindell, and Jake Owen are the guys leading the charge....
"Selfish Man" is one that I am a little surprised to see out before the top 15! Justin Moore hit this one out of the park! I'm starting to decide that he is one of the most consistent modern male country artists in the 2020s. After he rode the bro wave in his early days, he has been more reliable than even the likes of Jon Pardi at giving us the neo-trad, hooky vibes with catchy melodies.

Tanner Adell got tanked to high heaven in July's rankings with "Trailer Park Barbie," which was in her usual hick-hop style. She threw a curveball with the release of "Luke Combs," however, and showed off her vocals on this more straight-laced country love ballad. She got five top 10 ranks, three of which were top 5s, so it's safe to say that this was much better received than her prior effort!
