I’m going to try to get an October list together since it seems we need participants.

With the holidays finally in the rearview, I should be able to finish up my October list tomorrow or Wednesday.

Ok, had a busy weekend and Monday but:
Good Nights: This was very enjoyable.
Tim + Faith: This was ok, just shook out in the middle
Who Says You Can't have Everything: same as .indulgecountry said, all right just shuffled out in comparison.
Neon Cowgirl: I like Dan + Shay ok, but this was above and beyond for them. Very in my wheel house for what I like in country.
The Tree: Not a fan of the artist and not enamored with the subject matter either.
I Got A Problem: Again in my wheelhouse, either version. Enjoyed this one very much so.
Out of Sight: First time I listened it was ok, second time I realized what it really meant and enjoyed it much more.

Alexandra Kay's "Easy" secured a spot in the top 5 over Emily Ann Roberts by a 4-point margin. bboat11 loses his #1 here, and everyone had this in their top 16, with austin as the lone dissenter who put this in the penultimate position on his list. She landed at #10 back in May with "I Hate Airplanes," so this is a bit of an improvement for her here!

Lady A's little comeback single after taking a short break for Charles Kelley's stint in rehab, "Love You Back" has been received with open arms at country radio, and apparently Pulse agrees! This one had a very strong run during the submission process and stayed in the top 5 pretty steadfastly thanks to all but four posters having it in their personal top 10s. It definitely feels very comfortably in Lady A's wheelhouse of what they do best.

Former The Band Perry frontwoman Kimberly Perry has finally circled back to her home in country music as of 2023 and dropped "Fool's Gold" as the pre-cursor to the full-length Superbloom project from this fall after previously unveiling the Bloom EP over the summer. kluen loses their #1 here and a slew of top 12 ranks -- everyone placed it there except for three posters, one of which is nuggie99 who loses the final bottom 5 rank standing as we head into a competitive top 2 between a pair of Pulse darlings Ashley McBryde and Carrie Underwood.

Ashley McBryde's "Women Ain't Whiskey" established an early lead as #1 for the rankdown and kept her foot on the gas, settling into a 40-point lead over Carrie Underwood's "Drunk and Hungover" in the end. Despite winning, McBryde actually managed a rare feat as out of 17 submissions, not a single one put her at #1, whereas Carrie scored three #1 ranks ( taylor is terrified, SHOOTER, and zaclord 🌈). The spread for Carrie's song was wider though as had a pocket of seven ranks in the teens, versus everyone placing Ashley in their top 12, and over half of her ranks were top 5s.

Easy-- Yeah, this is nice.
Love You Back-- This is ok, but I'm not a Lady A fan so it filtered to the bottom.
Fool's Gold-- There's just something about her voice that I don't like.

Thank god the mid Carrie Underwood album track did not cruise to #1! I am so close to rank Ashley #1 here too.
We need to see November + December list.

“Drunk and Hungover” may be mid to some, but for me personally it’s one of the best songs (ignoring the incredible and incredibly cohesive Christmas/Gospel albums) she’s put out since her move to Capitol, and I say that as a “Cry Pretty” lead single truther and Denim & Rhinestones stan, lol. There’s just something magical in that song for me, and if she had better momentum and a FAR different approach to this era, I think she could’ve bagged a huge #1. If it was gonna lose to any song, I’m glad it was Ashley. Still haven’t heard the new album from her in full (a deserving Best Country Poster nominee at the PMAs I am NOT ), but “Women Ain’t Whiskey” is already one of my favorites from it. I hope she decides to release it as a single, because I think it could do some big damage.

"Drunk and Hungover" is one of my fav songs from Carrie's current era. Vocal, melody, and production; everything about it is beautifully done. I wish Carrie had more momentum and release a few more singles from D&R era, as this song or Crazy Angels do not deserve to remain as album tracks...

Hmmm... there's a few missing that I expected lists from based on last month's submissions, namely bboat11 and LBTrocks. Possibly kluen and Kris Kringle? Tomorrow is a holiday so if anyone needs 1 more day then that's fine, but we really need to kick things into gear soon since we're still behind a bit.

Classic country singer Jessi Colter who had a handful of country hits back in the 1970s randomly resurfaced this fall with her first full-fledged country album in nearly 20 years. Unfortunately, the singer is getting up there in age and her haggard voice is likely not everyone's cup of tea. For me personally, I did rank this last (as did bboat11), but I would honestly give this like a C+ at worst. The list was just too strong of competition so it didn't stack up imo. That said, it wasn't completely without fans as Darkest Hour already loses a top 5 and nuggie99 a top 10.
