I enjoy both of these singers so this collaboration is nice to me although since I submitted the list I have began to grow tired of it.

This breakup power ballad between newcomers Avery Anna and Dylan Marlowe struck gold with an impressive seven top 10s, four of which were top 5s. OTOH, it racked up five bottom 10s as well. Only a few placed it somewhere in the middle. Ultimately Dylan went with another duet (with Dylan Scott) as his mainstream country radio debut, as opposed to this being the radio introduction for both acts (Avery still hasn't been pushed at radio).

Yeah Avery Anna needs a debut radio single asap, as well as Alana Springsteen.

Kylie Morgan's "Happy Ever After Me" secured a top 10 finish, and actually ties in points with the song that reveals next at #9, but that one has a #1 rank vs. my #2 as the highest rank for this one. This is far and away my favorite cut from Kylie's debut album that finally landed last fall. The hook is just so clever and sassy in this kiss-off anthem, and the fiddle as the prominent instrument on the track really brings it to life. It received a lot of fanfare from others as well, as a majority placed it top 10! It did receive a handful of bottom 10s, however, including a #29 from nuggie99.

Winning the tiebreaker, Alexandra Kay's "Everleave" leaves next. This heartbreaking and earnest look at the unraveling of Kay's marriage is the kind of stuff that country music is all about. bboat11 slotted it at the top of their RD list, giving it the edge over Kylie Morgan. Similarly to that track, the majority placed this top 10, though it wound up with a handful of bottom 10s. Oddly enough, nuggie99 is once again the biggest outlier and loses his #28 here right on the heels of his #29.

Oddly enough, nuggie99 is once again the biggest outlier and loses his #28 here right on the heels of his #29. It's me, Hi, I'm the problem, it's me! My tastes run contrary to the board. I call 'em as I hear them. The picker sorts 'em. I'll give a run down at lunch if nothing pops up. Nobody commented since this one, so to avoid double posting: So where was I (if no entry assume "It was ok": Black Corvette: Sorry, still don't care for her voice. That's Texas: Love this style from Cojo. Only complaint is that Chili without beans is sauce. Put the beans in CoJo. It's ok though Lyle Lovett said "That's right you're not from Texas, but Texas loves you any way." On the other hand, Ray Wylie Hubbard and friends said "Screw You, We're from Texas" so.. King Of Country Music: Ok, but I likes Drew Parker's song of the same name better. I Know Better Now: Took me a couple of listens, but I liked this theme and style. I Will (When You Do): Love Avery. Love Dylan. Strong vocals. Echo the need foe a Avery Anna single soon. Preferably someone up tempo like la da di, but Narcissist and Critic seem to be her bread and butter. Happy Ever After Me: Still don't care for her voice, either. Everleave: Way too slow/sad for me. Also, some of my low scores don't mean I thought they were bad, just means they shuffled down in the picker.

Following a tie in the 9/10 spot, we have another tie in the 7/8 position. Hannah Dasher's "Redneck Ass" loses the tiebreaker due to having a singular #2 rank (courtesy of George Strait Junkie) as her highest, while the next song coming up has a pair of #2s. Hannah's ode to whooping the local trailer park hussy delivered one of my favorite lines of 2023: I know where you park your house. She racked up the top 10s, but a trio of bottom 10s drug her down to the lower half of the top 10.

Annie Bosko's debut single "Neon Baby" edges out "Redneck Ass" thanks to a pair of runner-up ranks from kw9461 and nuggie99. This neo-traditional barroom romp struck a chord with many as it settled comfortably into the top 10 of roughly half the participant pool, though a pocket of ranks on either side of #20 weighed it down and dashed its top 5 hopes.

I would have had Hannah in about third spot if not for the explicit tag. I saw her live a few years back and have been waiting on this one. The language here wasn't terrible, but if you set standards, you need to stick to them. (I realize nobody cares, but that's when your standards matter most)

Sadly, I'm the latest to lose my #1 as my favorite song of the month, Gabby Barrett's "Cowboy Back," is the unlucky last song to miss top 5. She does so by less than 5 points, too. </3
This pre-release promotional cut from her sophomore set that just dropped is laced with fiddle and has a strong driving melody overlaying a very picturesque set of lyrics. All but four participants placed this within their top half, showing that it was definitely a winner for most!

Before there was Beyoncé, there was this Nicolle Galyon song of the same title last fall. zaclord 🌈 was the highest ranker for this, with a #2. She landed in the top half for all but two posters, and LBTrocks was the only one to slot her bottom 10 at all. Best known for penning hit songs, and frequently with Miranda Lambert, Nicolle's put out some music of her own in the past few years and this was easily the best thing I've heard from her thus far.

"Texas Hold Em" and Nicolle Galyon = "Every Single Sumer" and MaRynn Taylor. In other words, totally obnoxious.
Hannah Dasher keeps serving up jams!
"Neon Baby" = gorgeous country bop
"Cowboy Back" is so good! I still totally love Gabby Barrett

Neon Baby-- Chris Young's "Gettin' You Home" from the female perspective. (that's oversimplified, but it's close enough). With a mix of James Otto. Very nice discovery.
Cowboy Back-- Gabby's wheelhouse and very pleasant.
texas hold 'em-- Great instrumental backing and good wordplay.

So I actually kinda liked Night Owl. Her voice alone is enough to carry this more atmosphere sound.
Black Corvette has meh We Will Rock You rhythm verse, but the chorus is decent.
Old and New is cheesy but that's part of her brand ig.
3 am in Carolina sounds like pop version of If I Told You.
If even tim didn't boost your Texas pride song that means it's weak, and that's the case for That's Texas. I would have chosen Watching My Old Flame from the dual instant grats release even though it may mean we are ranking his ballads in a row. Also off-topic "rant" but his social media avatar is ugly af
Don't really feel the message of King of Country Music either. I think the melody is actually the biggest strength tbh even though it could have used more "country instruments".
Both Kelleigh Bannen and Dylan Marlowe are poor vocalists. Don't understand why they are close to top 10.
I agree that the fiddle in Happy Ever After Me is nice touch, even though her writing could have used a bit more creativity.
Everleave does have some solid lines for divorce country music, but again I don't really like her vocals.
Redneck Ass is solid campy fun song.
I like Annie Bosko's vocals which has a presence behind the mic, but the melody is way too familiar to me.
This Texas Hold 'Em is better than beyonce's I'm afraid. What an interesting way to talk about her husband lol
So I have #2, #4, #8 and #23 left. Hopefully that #23 song will not win.
