I included "When You're My Age" at tim 's request. And thank you for including it I do enjoy this song, but Lori McKenna continues to be a perfect example to me of why so many people end up being songwriters but not major label artists... Like yes, she can carry a tune better than 95% of the population, but I cannot help but listen to her songs and imagine how much better they would sound in the hands of somebody else“Humble and Kind”, “Girl Crush”, “Cry Pretty”, “It All Comes Out in the Wash”, “Stealing Kisses”, and “Your Side of the Bed” say hello.

On the point of Lori's voice I can understand why she may not be appealing to some of you especially if you're not seeking to listen to her style on a daily basis. I happen to adore Lori's voice and find it to be incredibly soothing...almost calming actually. I also think I happen to gravitate to her on a personal level because of the maternal instinct much of her music conveys which always makes me reminisce on the memories of my own mother.
Lori's style also aligns more with my taste in music these days as I identify more with the Americana/Folk genre more than anything else.

There's plenty of songwriters who continue to release albums themselves and Lori is no exception.

I don't get the bland comments about Danielle Bradbery's song. I think it's a bit of a grower and not one of my favorites from her, but it was still better than most of this list with ease imo. The chorus sneaks up on you with its catchiness and it's deceptively hooky, even though it's a little breezy and not in your face about it. /shrug
The rest of the reveals I'm less bothered by, and I'm especially happy to see Kip Moore gone as I *almost* put him below Kenny Chesney in this, if that lets you know how much I did not gel with that song.

Fire And Flame: Would choose South or Red White Blue Jean American Dream instead for this rankdown. Still don't use his vocals like ever. Every Other Memory: Basically what bboat11 said. I just don't think he will break out. Never Have I Ever: Basically as boring as that Ryan Hurd song. She sounds like Ariana Grande knockoff when she reaches high notes. And I just don't think she will break out. Only Children: I don't like Reunions as much as other Jason Isbell albums since Southeastern, but this song is easily an highlight of that album. It's a great song on reflecting relationship with a songwriting friend who unexpectedly died. Also "the hearse was idling in the parking lot" is a well presented analogy. When You're My Age: This sounds too much like adult contemporary to me, although I can feel the sentiment and their vocals are quite good. Good Fight is better but it is not elligible for this rankdown...

Kip Moore's voice is horrendous and Only Children had nice lyrics, that was about it.

The chorus is weak for me, with the “oooh ooohh” and “ah ah” type sounds. Keeps it from fully clicking with me.

Hey now! Here I thought you were one of the nice ones! I actually watched the Voice when Danielle won and thought she was fantastic. I’ve also been quite amazed at some of her covers she’s put out on Spotify. If you haven’t heard her “God is a Woman” go listen! That said, her own material hasn’t been great. I’d like to know what you feel she has “hit it out of the park” with, as I do respect your taste and maybe I need to give them some more listens.

Oh good, so you already know about her covers, and that is where she truly seems to excel. I agree that her own material is woefully inconsistent, and usually leaves me disappointed compared to what I know she is capable of Now, I'm not sure if you've checked out her albums or if we're just talking about her singles, but "Never Like This" and "I Will Never Forget You" on her debut album are the first to come to mind. They both make my jaw drop every time They both sound to me like they would have lit up the charts if Carrie or Martina had recorded them and released them in the mid-00s.

Brett Young's latest offering kicks off our top 15, taking fearlessarrow's #1 and Sambalada's #2 with it. This song was actually a bottom-tier competitor for most of the rankdown, staying in the bottom 3 for much of the first half until it suddenly got a breath of life in the second half. I think this song is pretty sweet. It is very bland, just like almost the entirety of Brett's output has been, but I will be okay hearing it on the radio.

Congrats to Darkest Hour!!! With Kenny Chesney leaving, that means the song he suggested, Randy Rogers & Wade Bowen's "Rodeo Clown", is the last of the last-minute additions that are still alive. "Everyone She Knows" managed to get a huge span of ranks, including a #1 from BackwoodsBarbie and multiple last place ranks from .indulgecountry and LBTrocks for some reason. Both of those extremes are a little floppy imo, but the vast majority got it right by putting it somewhere in the teens. This song doesn't tread any new territory, but the story of a woman who is facing reality as she sees all her friends aging around her is very well told, and Kenny sings this one well.

Clay Walker was never one of my big favorites, but his brand of country sure sounds damn good in a modern landscape! "Easy Goin'" is kind of a fluffy song, but the play on words with the title is one of the reasons I love country music so much, and is unfortunately becoming a bit of a lost art these days when people like Clay, George Strait, Mark Chesnutt, etc. are not being played on radio anymore.
This song saw a gradual but steady decline for most of the submission process, as it started out as a top 10 contender but then settled into the 11-13 range.

Lainey Wilson leaves us at #12, with "Rolling Stone" managing to beat her last month's contribution by 1 position! "WWDD" finished at #13 last month :) Good for her! "Rolling Stone" took a little time to grow on me, but ultimately I came to love it enough to put it in my top 5 here. Something about that "Think you're the one that's gonna turn me around, give me a ring and settle me down" delivery is just SO catchy and has been stuck in my head for much of the past month. I'm really excited to see what Lainey has in store for the future, because I have been loving her a lot since these rankdowns have inspired me to check out more newer country

"All Night" has gotten rave reviews among us on Pulse so far, and was a top 10 contender for practically the entire submission process!!! In fact, it started out as a top 5 contender for pretty much the entire first half. It only started to flirt with that #11 position with the last handful of lists, and ended up finishing there despite LBTrocks' best efforts with a #4 rank with the final list. Tbh, I am still kinda mixed on this song. The guitar melody is infectious, but the melody and concept is wearing thin pretty quickly... It is nothing but lightweight radio fluff, and will sound pretty good on the radio no doubt, but I can tell already that this is one I am not likely to revisit very much on my own.
