Leaving us first is Pulse's favorite punching bag, Mitchell Tenpenny! Known most notably for his song "Bitches" where he proclaims that all women who don't want to sleep with him are bitches and he is done wasting his time with them, he started off on the wrong foot with us, and clearly has not been able to win us back over. I enjoyed "Broken Up" WAAAAAY more than I thought I would, but I am in no way broken up to see this sexist pig get relegated to our slop bins.

Bitchell did not start out as our primary last place contender. In fact, that honor went to Reyna, who was last place for the first half of the submission process before she gained a tiny bit of footing thanks to a small smattering of top 10 ranks. This song is atrocious. It sounds like it was mixed and produced by a child fulfilling their make-a-wish request, and the way that Reyna literally screams the entire song makes it extremely grating on the ears. I'm all for promoting diversity in the country genre, but this is NOT it. The majority seem to be in agreement with me, as more than half of us put it in our bottom 5! LBTrocks loses a #3 though, and he is joined in the top 10 by SHOOTER and tweety (who probably boardicided because of his taste, tbh).

This ("Stompin' Grounds") was INCREDIBLE. The country rock beat that was going on was EVERYTHING. I demand a recount.
Also I didn't know about the song "Bitches." I knew I didn't like him for a reason.

10. Any other thoughts/predictions? Twinkle Twinkle for Margo Price selection is a choice. This.

Margo Price had the honor of tying with Reyna to be the lowest female, and the highest rank is once again a #3, this time from gardyfan. Margo won the tie because the second highest rank was a #5 compared to Reyna's #8, plus she did better than Reyna for pretty much the entire submission process. Twinkle Twinkle" isn't bad, but it definitely has a very strong personality that you need to get used to in order to enjoy the song. I included this one because multiple people ( fearlessarrow and SHOOTER) requested it, but there were probably less polarizing choices on the album. I've gotta say, I do really love her sassy energy when she delivers the line, "If it don't break you, it might just make you rich. You might not get there, and on the way it's a Mitchell Tenpenny"!!

I don't have any clue what the fuck is going on, but this Tyler Farr song is actually... enjoyable!!! I am SHOCKED that I like it as much as I do! Typically I think he'd be a last place contender for us, but in this case it was not even close. Hell, even his biggest hater .indulgecountry couldn't find room for Tyler in his bottom 5! This wasn't even a bottom 5 contender in the overall rankdown until the last stretch of lists came in! Still, the fact that it is Tyler seemed to hold this song back a bit. I personally think he sounds better here than he ever has before, but could see where someone might find the song kinda generic or forgettable.

Given it’s from Tyler Farr I was looking for any reason I could find to dislike “Soundtrack to a Small Town Sundown”, but much to my surprise I really enjoyed this. The melody is great and the lyrics made me feel quite nostalgic...this ended up being my favorite discovery!

I actually enjoyed this Russell Dickerson song WAY more than I ever expected to as well! He has been largely mediocre if not horrible for most of his career aside from "Yours", but this song is insanely catchy, and he sings it really well. This is one that I will enjoy hearing on the radio for the next 60-80 weeks!

Wow "Twinkle Twinkle" might be my favorite song from That's How Rumors Get Started, turns out it's an unpopular opinion

I don't see my #23 being out soon but at least I almost cleared my bottom 5 lol In terms of bad male vocalist in mainstream country competition, Tyler Farr still wins over Mitchell Tenpenny. Stompin' Grounds is too LOUD. The guitar tone in Twinkle Twinkle is horrible. Sturgill Simpson's production only fits him. The upbeat nature of Home Sweet isn't too bad but really indistinguishable. Guess I should recommend songs to bboat11 since I have moderate success before lol

If anybody would like to recommend songs to me, feel free to post them right in this thread anytime! That way other people could chime in too if they also have suggestions! I can't promise I'll include every recommendation, but I definitely will do my best to accommodate! Choosing songs from new albums is where I need the most help. I can't listen to every new album all by myself to pick songs, so if I know what y'all are liking on new albums it makes it much easier for me to choose songs from them :) Lol

Yeah, I was just as surprised as you and tim by this one! It's literally the best thing I've ever heard from Tyler Farr -- which in itself isn't saying much, but I actually really liked this one. It was a pretty solid list so just escaping my bottom 5 is the best it could do for me, but I enjoyed it. The song itself was fantastic melodically, solid production, and his voice has never sounded more tolerable, lol. If this were given to someone who's voice I truly LOVE, then this song would probably be among my faves of the year. Like image somebody like Luke Combs on this? Smash.

And can we talk about that steel guitar?! Like, it just seems so rare to hear that sweet sound coming from this...is it possible it's making a comeback??? I can only hope as next to the fiddle it's one of my favorite instruments in country music.

At least y'all got rid of that horrid Tyler Farr not too long after getting rid of the fantastic Reyna Roberts. "Soundtrack To A Small Town Sundown" is dreadful. Tyler makes it worse, but the song itself isn't good anyway. The verse is TERRIBLE. The melody/vocal arrangement doesn't flow at all. It's got a pretty generic beat and instrumentation which continues come the chorus... which is sadly an improvement over the rest of the song, but still... hard pass. "Withdrawals" this is not.
'Twinkle Twinkle" was meh and forgettable and Margo Price's voice isn't very palatable to me. Not sad to see this go.
So I can't stand Russell Dickerson as an artist and have never tried to sugarcoat that fact, but "Home Sweet" is actually quite good. Only thing that brings it down for me is the beat, I HATE that beat... but if I focus on the rest of the song I can still get some enjoyment out of it. It's not one I'd listen to on a large scale tho since I still don't care for Russell's voice, but a song like this is definitely a step in the right direction over his usual dreck.

The melody of "Rolling With The Stones" was kinda nice but I didn't really care for the instrumentation and production unfortunately.
