Footprints On The Moon is better than Got Me at least, I just don't like the tacky heavy rock vibe here. It's honestly quite similar to a lot of Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert's songs. The lack of solid melody in Build Me A Daddy is also quite meh. Also quite trend-chasing when Luke Combs had a giant song about father-son. And I always wonder why he sounds so front in studio for almost a decade. I thought A Good Place To Turn Around would be higher. After all Pulse loves to rank the artist, and I think it sounds solid? Especially if it's going for 2000s vibe like The World Goes On. Maren Morris doesn't deserve to name her song "Just For Now" when Imogen Heap used the title for a far better song I hope she finds better producer from now on for her pop/R&B projects because this ain't it. Josh Turner's version of Country State Of Mind is solid but I expected more besides his perfect singing. Aisde from "quoting George Strait in lyrics" cliche by Texas-based artists, Hey Cowgirl is another solid song with neo-traditional sounds, which should have more airtime on country radio imo. Spur Of The Moment is the good find here. This has the vibe I am looking for from Texas country influence, parricularly the outro. I think the music video debuted on CMT yesterday and may be on Youtube soon. Stick That In Your Country Song is poised to be highest SD in 2020 Country rankdown anyway. This does not grow on me much but this list is weak to start with and hence my #3. Redwood Tree is better than her two radio singles this era (I don't count Diane because it is so long ago), but the melody and chorus feels a bit too...simple? Still #19 rank for this is too far. I particularly like the lyrics "Just white painted picket fences far as you can see" as barriers of racial conversation built by white people. But the overly formulaic chord progression that this song uses kind of underwhelms the message. What Are You Gonna Tell Her? is still her best release this year by far.

Also I don't think I have got so many perfect rankings in a rankdown before but I will take that. Looks like July is hell of a month for new release, plus some songs from last week of June. 25 songs may not even be enough.

MCC was way too low, but I'm ultimately not surprised. She is such an amazing songwriter!
Mickey Guyton was a very deserving winner. Even though she wasn't my #1, I'm glad that she was able to take the win here. July 2020 is looking even better than June 2020 for new releases, so I'm looking forward to next month's list.

I'm thrilled that "Footprints On The Moon" made the top 10 but it should have been higher! What a BEAUTIFUL song!!! Gabby is one of my favorites currently. She's so good and that is her best song IMO. Ew @ "Build Me A Daddy" placing higher than Gabby. Anyway it sounds like a masterpiece compared that Margarita song of his but it's still not very good and I had it pegged to be out in the bottom 5 or 10 so boooo @ it making the top 10. I love Maren but found very little about "Just For Now" enjoyable. Pleasantly surprised by how much I liked that Josh Turner tune! Jam. "Hey Cowgirl" being in the top 5 where it belongs!! Fantastic song and artist. Wow @ "Stick That In Your Country Song" making top 3!! I seriously had this pegged as a definitely last place contender. I know Pulse overall likes Eric Church but I also know Pulse usually HATES this style. Anyway it's one of the best songs he's had in a long time so I'm here for it placing so high. "Black Like Me" is just stunning and powerful, Mickey Guyton is really bringing it with her material. Thanks bboat11 for doing this it was, as usual, a rollercoaster! But a lot of fun too lol

I do not think anyone will be surprised to see Mickey's "Black Like Me" in the winner's position... Not only is she a Pulse fave because her voice is friggin' amazing, but this song is also SO timely and important right now. Our country is in a really dark place these days, and it is SO important for the voices and perspectives of minorities to be heard and listened to. I am glad this song has managed to bring a lot of attention to Mickey, even if radio is not going to touch it! I still NEED her big breakthrough to come... What a great top 4! I need you to do a write up of Redwood Tree though, I love reading your thoughts and you skipped over it! Yassss, somebody who actually reads what I write!!! "Redwood Tree" is quite a good song, but I was not expecting it to be a top 2 contender... To me the whole thing just feels kind of like it would be easy to overlook. That's probably why I didn't give my thoughts. Every time I listen to the song I'm surprised by how much I enjoy it, because when I just think about the song it feels very nondescript. I can't help but feel that it might not have done quite this well in either of the previous months...

Holy cow this thread was buried!!!!! It has been a week since our last reminder, and we have gotten a handful of new lists. There is now one more week until the deadline :) This month is FLYING by, I know, but it's hard to extend these ones due to the time-sensitive nature of them, so please try to get it done within the next week if you want to join :)

Wow, our participant list has burgeoned mightily in the last couple days!!! We are now up to 15 participants...which is just 3 shy of last month :) However, 22 was our number both months before that, so it would be neat to get close to that again. I have decided I have time to go ahead and give you a couple extra days to get this done if you would like. Our new deadline will be Friday! Hopefully those couple extra days will help take the pressure off of people like taylor, who is trying to do this while also jumping into a new year of college!! Participants so far:

1. What will be #1? Redhead or maybe betty
2. What will be #25? Broken Up
3. What else will be in the top 5? Redhead, betty, Waste Of Lime, Here On Earth, Sleep At Night
4. What else will be in the bottom 5? Home Sweet, Broken Up, This Town Is A Woman, What Do I Know, Twinkle Twinkle
5. What will be most polarizing? Least? Most: Sleep At Night Least: Broken Up
6. How long will it be before we lose a female song? One female song will be in bottom 3
7. What or who was your favorite discovery of this rankdown? I didn't really like More Hearts Than Mine by Ingrid Andress but Waste Of Lime is great so I guess she was my favourite "discovery".
8. Ingrid, Caylee, and Mickey have won the last 3 rank downs, and they all have a song in this one. How will their new songs do? ("Waste of Lime", "Redhead", and "Heaven Down Here") Waste of Lime and Redhead - top 5 Heaven Down Here - between #5 and #10.
9. Which will do better: "Sunday Drive" or "Sunday Best"? Sunday Best

1. What will be #1? "Heaven Down Here"
2. What will be #25? Something by a vanilla man
3. What else will be in the top 5? "Actress," "Fool's Love Affair," "If That Ain't God," "Here on Earth"
4. What else will be in the bottom 5? Songs by vanilla men
5. What will be most polarizing? "Fool's Love Affair" Least? "Broken Up"
6. How long will it be before we lose a female song? It'll take a while, probably right before Top 15
7. What or who was your favorite discovery of this rankdown? "Actress" was incredible. What an immaculate song.
8. Ingrid, Caylee, and Mickey have won the last 3 rank downs, and they all have a song in this one. How will their new songs do? ("Waste of Lime", "Redhead", and "Heaven Down Here") Ingrid will do worst, as I've seen some mixed reviews at least overall on Pulse, Caylee and Reba will meet Ingrid and Mickey in the middle, and Mickey will do best. Also it's fun to see that each of the past three months have seen winners from new people!
9. Which will do better: "Sunday Drive" or "Sunday Best"? "Sunday Best"
10. Any other thoughts/predictions? What a great month overall!

1. What will be #1? "Sleep at Night" is my guess. There's some strong contenders here tho.
2. What will be #25? "Rolling with the Stones"
3. What else will be in the top 5? Caylee Hammack/Reba, Lindsay Ell, Taylor Swift, Randy Travis
4. What else will be in the bottom 5? Some 4 of these 5: Tyler Farr, Chris Young, Robert Counts, Mitchell Tenpenny, and Russell Dickerson
5. What will be most polarizing? Least? Most: "Betty" maybe cause T-Swift | Least: "Broken Up"
6. How long will it be before we lose a female song? Pretty early cause that Wild Fire song will be bottom 2.
7. What or who was your favorite discovery of this rankdown? "This Town Is a Woman" is the highest song I ranked that I think I hadn't heard previously. I already knew all but like 4 or 5 of these.
8. Ingrid, Caylee, and Mickey have won the last 3 rank downs, and they all have a song in this one. How will their new songs do? ("Waste of Lime", "Redhead", and "Heaven Down Here") I think all of 'em will be in the top half at least. Caylee in the top 5, Ingrid in the 6-8 range, and Mickey just inside or outside top 10 maybe (doesn't seem like "Heaven" is as well-liked as her last two releases).
9. Which will do better: "Sunday Drive" or "Sunday Best"? "Drive" probably, much to my disappointment.
10. Any other thoughts/predictions? Hoping Chrissy Metz does better this time than she did with "Talking to God" </3

1. What will be #1? "Heaven Down Here" or maybe even "make you"
2. What will be #25? Tyler Farr's song
3. What else will be in the top 5? "Sleep At Night" "Redhead" and maybe "betty" and "Actress" idk
4. What else will be in the bottom 5? "Broken" and "What Do I Know." Otherwise not sure lol.
5. What will be most polarizing? Least? "Sunday Drive (most) "Heaven Down Here" (least)
6. How long will it be before we lose a female song? Probably about halfway thru
7. What or who was your favorite discovery of this rankdown? Reyna Roberts "Stompin' Grounds" kicked my ass!!! LOVE IT!
8. Ingrid, Caylee, and Mickey have won the last 3 rank downs, and they all have a song in this one. How will their new songs do? ("Waste of Lime", "Redhead", and "Heaven Down Here") Mickey probably #1, the others top 10 for sure.
9. Which will do better: "Sunday Drive" or "Sunday Best"? Lol. "Sunday Best" will easily do better, as it should, as it's the far superior song and and the far superior artist sings it.
10. Any other thoughts/predictions? I hope Reyna's song does well and that y'all didn't do Robert Counts too dirty even tho I suspect he's easily out bottom 5, lol.

1. What will be #1? This is a tough one to predict, but Iâll go with âRedheadâ 2. What will be #25? âBroken Upâ or "Twinkle Twinkle" 3. What else will be in the top 5? âBettyâ, âSleep at Nightâ, âSunday Driveâ, âHappy Anywhereâ 4. What else will be in the bottom 5? âIf That Ainât Godâ, âStompinâ Groundsâ, âTwinkle Twinkleâ, âHome Sweetâ 5. What will be most polarizing? âSoundtrack to a Small Town Sundownâ Least? âBroken Upâ 6. How long will it be before we lose a female song? This seems like a trick questionâŠso Iâll say the first song to leave might actually be a female 7. What or who was your favorite discovery of this rankdown? âActressâ by Chrissy Metz plus a song by a polarizing male artist that I wasnât expecting to like 8. Ingrid, Caylee, and Mickey have won the last 3 rank downs, and they all have a song in this one. How will their new songs do? "Waste of Lime" in top 12; âRedhead" in top 3; "Heaven Down Here in top 15 9. Which will do better: "Sunday Drive" or "Sunday Best"? âSunday Driveâ 10. Any other thoughts/predictions? I don't think "Twinkle Twinkle" was the best song to showcase from Margo's new album and unfortunately I missed bboat11 's message about what song to include for her. I think either "Letting Me Down" or "Hey Child" would've been much better choices as I don't expect the selected song to fare all that well here. Also, y'all better have not done Lori McKenna dirty!

1. What will be #1?
"Redhead", "make you", "Heaven Down Here", or "Betty"
2. What will be #25?
"Broken Up" or "Soundtrack To A Small Town"
3. What else will be in the top 5?
I think it'll be between "Let Me Go", "Fool's Love Affair", or "Here On Earth" rounding out the top 5
4. What else will be in the bottom 5?
Hopefully "Sleep At Night". I see people hoping for a Top 5 but I thought it was horrible. The only thing I can tolerate from the Chicks new album is Gaslighter unfortunately. I doubt it makes it there but doubt it makes Top 10 also.
As for the bottom 5, along with the two that I think will likely be the bottom 2 I could see "Rolling With The Stones", "Home Sweet", maybe "If That Ain't God" or "Stompin' Grounds"
5. What will be most polarizing? Least?
Most: "Sleep At Night", "Betty", "Sunday Drive"
Least: "Broken Up", "Redhead", "I'm No Stranger To The Rain"
6. How long will it be before we lose a female song?
In the bottom 5 most likely
7. What or who was your favorite discovery of this rankdown?
"Why Things Happen". I really enjoyed hearing Jimmie Allen, Darius Rucker, and especially Charlie Pride together.
I did like "What Do I Know" and "Actress" as well, kinda wish I ranked both higher as they have both grown on me
I should also mention "Happy Anywhere". I hadn't listened to it yet but I really like that one, probably the first song from Blake in over a decade that I immediately liked.
8. Ingrid, Caylee, and Mickey have won the last 3 rank downs, and they all have a song in this one. How will their new songs do? ("Waste of Lime", "Redhead", and "Heaven Down Here")
I kinda feel like this rankdown is Caylee's to lose, "Redhead" I feel like has the passion to be #1 but I also think Mickey Guyton will be up there as well. As much as "Waste of Lime" should be top 10 it does seem to have its detractors so I think it'll just miss.
9. Which will do better: "Sunday Drive" or "Sunday Best"?
I liked both but have to give the edge to "Sunday Drive", Brett sounds incredible and the song as a whole is really solid
10. Any other thoughts/predictions?
I am really shocked that so many feel so strongly for "Sleep At Night", I even liked Tyler Farr's song more than that and his voice alone can ruin the best songs.
I also am really hoping that Lori McKenna, and Josh Turner make it to the top 10 and for Ingrid Andress to do better than I expect and be in the top 10 as well!

1. What will be #1? Redhead
2. What will be #25? Soundtrack To A Small Town Sundown
3. What else will be in the top 5? betty, make you, Fool's Love Affair, I'm No Stranger To The Rain
4. What else will be in the bottom 5? Broken Up, Home Sweet, Twinkle Twinkle, Rolling With The Stones
5. What will be most polarizing? Least? Most: Stompin' Grounds Least: Soundtrack To A Small Town Sundown
6. How long will it be before we lose a female song? Bottom 3.
7. What or who was your favorite discovery of this rankdown? Sunday Best
8. Ingrid, Caylee, and Mickey have won the last 3 rank downs, and they all have a song in this one. How will their new songs do? ("Waste of Lime", "Redhead", and "Heaven Down Here") Redhead: win Waste of Lime and Heaven Down Here: top 10
9. Which will do better: "Sunday Drive" or "Sunday Best"? Sunday Drive I hope. Sunday Best is not bad though.
10. Any other thoughts/predictions? Twinkle Twinkle for Margo Price selection is a choice.
