they don't publish "bad data," they publish data that doesn't meet Billboard's criteria. Billboard checks for excessive streaming, user verification, and a certain time limit a song must be playedβI believe 30 seconds. For YouTube, most of these things don't matter as much, because the higher numbers are actually a better look for them. they might be counting replays as new views, or not checking the accounts viewing the videos as strictly. In its press release about removing paid advertising views from its charts, YouTube expressed a desire to "align with the policies of official charting companies such as Billboard and Nielsen." So I'm just really interested to know which Billboard policies and anomalies YouTube is able to measure yet chooses not to address on its own charts. I know you mentioned the different criteria referenced in the Billboard article, but there's no indication that YouTube Charts counts bots or people who just keep hitting refresh every two seconds (and I'm positive the latter doesn't even work on the public view counter, let alone the verified charts). So what are the auditing discrepancies that seem to affect certain videos - including various hip-hop examples from this year, as noted elsewhere in the thread - to a disproportionate extent? no, hitting refresh every 2 seconds doesn't count for either chart. what I meant by "replay" is, though, putting the video on loop or actually refreshing the page every 3 minutes (or however long his song is). I'm speculating, obviously, but in the UK there is a rule that counts 10 streams per day from a userβthat number might be 10 for Billboard, 25 for YouTube, for instance. I'm literally making it up though, but it is not wildly wrong to assume that Billboard might have a similar limit.

Among the top five tracks Alpha Data saw during the first week of βGOOBA,β video accounted for 60% of his streams, while the other four songs were is a more typical 80% audio/20% video ratio. On the Rolling Stone top songs chart, which flows from Alpha Data, updated numbers are expected imminently. (Both Rolling Stone and Alpha Data are owned by Penske Media Crop., the parent company of Variety.) Not to mention that if you try to visit the Buzz Angle Music website, you now end up in the Alpha Data website. Curiously, though, Hits Daily Double still uses the former's logo for the different weekly charts.

I don't why radio takes so much time to let go of older songs while there a newer pop songs waiting to be played. Because thatβs not how radio operates

I donβt understand all of 6ix9ineβs frustration, even if Ariana and Bieber hadnβt have cheated for the number one, he still wouldβve been at #2 behind Doja lol. Honestly, all these battles for number one make the artists look REALLY insecure. Is a number one really that important to you that you have to fake streams and copies bought just to make it look like your song did better than it looked? Like bruh you have a top ten song which is amazing just be grateful with that. Because he knows heβs trash and his time as someone with the ability to make the chart is limited. Heβs practically already a bas-been - whether he was even someone in the first place is the other question.

Unless they were able to get donations and didnβt have to actually pay for some/most of that promo. Then why aren't they continuing the charity promotion this week? A song like this probably doesnβt have a particularly long shelf life since itβs not exactly a revolutionary song. Why not hit with the iron is hot? I know you seem to have it in for this song as a charity single. Are you doubting any of the money went to charity at all? Iβm not sure why itβs such a bad thing for them to both give to charity and benefit by getting a number one at the same time. If it ended up they didnβt give the money to charity or they spent more on promo than they gave, then sure. But I also donβt think the situation is much worse than most major charitable organizations that spent huge amounts on promotion to raise money for research. Itβs kind of part of the deal.

Can somebody make a mix of Gunna on Circles, I actually wanna hear how it would sound lmaoooo I DID IT! The (un)official Gunna remix to Circles: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeiEtCN_5wwIn addition to Gunna, it also features Usher and the Migos, because I figure I needed to balance out Gunna with '90s R&B. I put Migos in because I feel bad for them falling off so I'm giving them a spot on the greatest pop song ever. I apologize that Gunna's verse is horribly offbeat but just pretend it's blueface lol.

I took a class last year at college on radio taught by a Billboard-employee and an iHeartRadio exec, it has and still has been proven that 85-90% of people still consume music through radio and learn of new music through radio. I'm so tired of seeing the "radio should be lowered" comments. The blend of streaming, radio and sales is what makes the Hot 100 unique and worthwhile. I was about to say I donβt believe that until I gave it some thought and realized, you know what? Thatβs actually probably quite likely. We often discount people outside of the typical streaming demographics and I often cite how the charts often skew away from these demographics but it is a fair point to say that there is a wide range of people who arenβt active music listeners or seekers but who do listen to radio because itβs easier to have someone else pick out the songs to play rather than search for them themselves. I think most of probably forget that.

Anyone who thinks billboard isnβt shady af is π€‘ Iβll never forget when they changed the rule to rules up the week Britney was going number one with Blackout until they allowed exclusive albums (The Eagles) available by one retailer (Walmart) to chart on the overall BB200.
I donβt even mind the rule change, but do just drop it when they did without any notice or heads up was so shady it made my stomach turn. Had Britneyβs team known they could have released it the weeks after, but Billboard loves a good story.

The hype and controversy surrounding his return is still very fresh and Iβd even say his popularity is higher than ever right now. Whenever he releases new music thereβs going to be lots and lots of people who will listen out of interest or curiosity simply because heβs 6ix9ine. He has a massive fan base who will listen and support his music even if it doesnβt end up having a huge long term impact overall. Iβm not over the moon about any of it but right now heβs the most talked about artist right now and there are lots of eyes on him waiting to see what he does next. Regardless of personal opinions about him, I donβt know how anyone could call him a has-been when heβs making so many headlines and being talked about so much.

Nothing shady happening at Billboard those 9 weeks in 1974: 1) 7 of Top 10 drops; 2) 5 consecutive; 3) three straight drops to #12; and 4) two straight drops to #15. Would love to know who was pulling the strings at Billboard then. Today people worry about bundles and bots gaming the chart. 1974 was clearly fraud. Why? It was not equaled or surpassed in 45 YEARS, but now it's happened twice in 6 months. Will SWU with make it 3 times...
