In transition years, it appears it was once a year when the top seller outsold #2 and #3 combined yet charted below T2: 2014: Problem 438k vs. 396 for #2/3 sellers 2015: Drag Me Down 350k vs. 263 2/3 2016: I Don’t Wanna Live Forever 188k vs. 133 2/3 2017: Sign of the Times 142k vs. 139 2/3
Problem and I Don't Wanna Live Forever later peaked at #2 though.

The SWU 'tactics' that upset some chart watchers are completely irrelevant this week because no one was 'robbed' since Say So already hit #1... It’s just annoying that you can do that to the chart, also I’m pretty confident they spent more money on campaigning than money raised for charity.

When the #3 song outstreamed the #2 & #1 song combined....
Sure, 6ix9ine missing #1 is funny/a kii but the song not even being top 2 does say more about Billboard's formula at the moment. I don't even think there was remotely a situation in the digital era where a song could outsell the #1+#2 combined and not top 2.
That's literally like a song selling 500k and debuting #3 behind two songs that sold 225k. Well, I'm the opposite, I think a song that is in the top 3, literally the 3rd most popular song in the country, isn't even on the radio, makes no sense. Also who the **** is listening to radio rn, almost no one is driving and that’s pretty much the only time people do. The radio is basically a promotional tool anyways, and if we’re allowing promotional tools, why not allow YouTube commercials or just normal commercials.

SWU is gonna go 100k sales -> 10k this week. That‘s f**ked up and is killing a lot of enthusiasm for chart tracking. Would you rather the chart be less accurate tho Less accurate of what? Certainly not what‘s popular. They way the sales metric has been abused lately to picture false realities, there has to be done something against it.

I think we should also remember that the vast majority of GAARBAGE streams come from YouTube. The song itself did worse than "Say So" and "Stuck With U" on Spotify & barely better than them on Apple. Those paid audio streams are weighed more than kids and pre-teens watching it on YouTube It's funny how you're using 300k (SWU) and 100k (SS) streaming gap on Spotify (25-35% streams are coming from the free/ad-supported tier) and saying that Gooba barely beat both songs on AM when it was either #1 or #2 the entire week and SWU never got close to the top 3. SWU was #5-11 throughout the week. I don’t exactly know how far apart they were but it’s not far, considering Gooba was #2 all week (I don’t think it ever got to #1, did it? maybe for 1 day). And did I say SWU beat Gooba by a large margin? can you read? it got about 300k more streams iirc on spotify. not much, but tells us something.

Bye.

They way the sales metric has been abused lately to picture false realities, there has to be done something against it. The sales metric has been "abused" for decades, if you want to call it abuse. And a song selling 100k is not a "false reality", it actually happened, so it counts. Sales spikes and nosedives are not a new thing.

Compared to January (before any lockdowns and when audience was likely closest to current inflated numbers), all those stations lost 50%~ of their audience actually. That means the biggest songs on radio are only doing 50-60m right now, wow.

Ariana really scalped 69 with that post huh. Happy for her to get another #1 and solidify her career. Not so happy it happened with this song and on these terms.
We may never know the true intentions behind releasing the track but the truth is that it might have raised a lot of money and awareness by being catapulted into #1. And that's something that will always deserve praising. I'm happy that she is as passionate as she is and she seems to have her heart in the right place ♥

6ix9ine has no freaking chill. Calm TF DOWN and celebrate everything that your scary ass did achieve. Good move by Ariana and Justin (and that thing that manages them) to donate proceeds of the song SALES to Pandemic Relief. Sorry but I cannot be mad about that. Push your merch, make those sales and help some people. Sure, it's nice that if there were any actual proceeds they will go to charity, but considering they now dropped the push for the charity, it's clear they used the charity angle to help spur momentum for a #1. That's shameless.

NOT Ariana acting like charts don't matter but then turning around and knowing the exact rule about copies bought! I shouldn't be surprised since they shamelessly used a charity to get the #1.

Did she just say that sales were more important than streams? I’m confused... I hope she means in the case of this song and context because her first two number ones were products of high streaming.

No. She said sales count more than streams which is true (100k sales has way more weight than the same amount on streams).
