7 rings back in 2019 was top 3 worst hits of the year for me I couldn’t fucking stand it. Now it’s probably top 5 best of 2019 for me and I love it

I remember back when I was getting into pop music reviewers in late 2018, everyone who made a 2016 worst list had a strong vendetta against Me Too by Meghan Trainor. And for a time, I was right there with them. But looking back, I get the feeling the main reason people hated it so much was because they wanted an easy target to rag on at the end of the year after so many dark, depressing songs became hits. Nowadays, I think Me Too is vapid and kinda tasteless, but rather enjoyable in a twisted way. Meghan Trainor has made much worse, and there were much worse hit songs in 2016.

Glass Animals - Heat Waves (was indifferent to it on its first run, now I can't get enough of it lol) Doja Cat / The Weeknd - You Right (found it boring at first, then grew to appreciate the atmospheric/dark production) Gotye / Kimbra - Somebody That I Used to Know (found it kinda boring on first run, have grown to appreciate it recently) Kelsea Ballerini / Halsey - The Other Girl (considered it boring on first listen, but quickly came to love their chemistry)

At first, I thought "hated" means that a lot of people hate it, rather than that you yourself used to hate it. Anyways, "Best I Ever Had" by Drake and "Fireflies" by Owl City come to mind, both from 2009. I hated them (and a lot of other songs) at the time. "Tik Tok" by Kesha is another example. It might be my favourite song from her, at this point. "Bubbly" is also a great example. I have no idea why I used to hate that beautiful song. Oh, and several Britney Spears singles. "Hold It Against Me", "Womanizer", and "Circus" come to mind. "...Baby One More Time" might be one, though I think I was more indifferent to it in the past, rather than hating it.

I thought I responded to this thread …guess not. “Dance Monkey” by Tones & I. It was like fingernails on a chalkboard until I saw her perform it on one of those late night shows… maybe on Jimmy Kimmel..I can’t remember. I don’t know why…just one of those things. Now …I luv it….

Somebody That I Used to Know It didn't help it blocked Payphone from #1. Well, at least Billboard got it right there and the awful song was actually blocked from #1.

I think “Hide Away” and “Sit Still, Look Pretty” by Daya are both overhated. I really like both, but I enjoy “Sit Still, Look Pretty” a bit more, just because it it’s too much of a bop to hate.

She Looks So Perfect by 5SOS came on my shuffle the other day, and I actually liked it but I absolutely hated it before.

When “Work” by Rihanna first came out, I thought it was a joke. I didn’t like it at all. Terrible. But since then, at a time when I’m done with “Diamonds” “We Found Love” and looooong tired of “Only Girl” and many of her other hits, “Work” has risen to near the top of my favourite Rihanna songs. It’s a straight jam!

Bieber's Ghost
It's not that I hated it, I just thought it was annoying...now I think it's best Bieber 2020s song.

Mine's mostly top Hip-Hop songs within mid-2010s to now, particularly "Bad and Boujee", "Xo Tour Lilif3", "FEFE", "Gucci Gang", "No Guidance", and "Life is Good"

I've already mentioned this in the H100 threads, but First Class. I thought it was the most generic trap song ever, now I rap along with it

Running Up That Hill
I kinda liked the song last year, but Kate's voice was annoying to me, now I just don't care. Definitely one of the best 80s songs imo.

I initially disliked Positions when it came out and thought it was very underwhelming. Now I really like it.

I have an example of a song that clicked with me very recently. When I first heard Daylight by David Kushner, I didn’t like it at all, I didn’t enjoy the vocal delivery or how it sounded. But in recent days when I heard it, I slowly began to like these qualities and how they worked within the song. I came to realize that it was a great song in my opinion.
