I’m surprised people like White Dress so much, it’s a mess. Slander.

This is the first Lana album in a long time that hasn't connected with me. The only one prior to that was Ultraviolence and even that grew on me years later. I spun the hell of this for a week, waiting for it to open up and reveal itself (Lana will always get a certain level of effort from me that most artists don't). And unfortunately it just never did. I haven't revisited it since and have no strong desire to. Following up NFR was always going to be a task, but this just made me want to go back and listen to that album.
I usually go on Lana album binges whenever she releases a new album, so this will get another try further down the road. Maybe I'll appreciate this more later on kinda like UV, who knows?

I literally was typing out a very similar post yesterday but realized I hadn't touched the album since release week and should give it another listen. Totally agree about her albums needing a bit more effort, but there's always at least one song that grabs me instantly and so hard that it keeps me coming back to the rest, allowing it to open up: "Brooklyn Baby" and "Black Beauty," "High by the Beach" and "God Knows I Tried," "13 Beaches" and "Heroin," "Cinnamon Girl." This album just didn't have that and it has really impacted my interest in going back to it.

There’s usually at least one song in all her prior albums where I’m like woah that’s a masterpiece! This is the first Lana album I did not connect with and did not give me that.

Disagree strongly here. I come back to:
1. Chemtrails Over The Country Club (love the melody and those drums at the end.) 2. White Dress (infectious) 3. Wild At Heart 4. Dance Til We Die 5. Dark But Just A Game 6. Let Me Love You Like A Woman
But, it's such a nice listen overall. Lana doesn't make bad albums.

That cover is hideous. What the f**k is wrong with her 💀 I like to think she is actively trolling us with these covers but with Lana its near impossible to tell what is true or not lmao

I love White Dress, that's definitely my favorite from this album. I also enjoy the title track, Tulsa Jesus Freak, LMLYLAW, Wild At Heart, and Yosemite.

For me, it's NFR > COTCC > LFL > HM > BTD > UV. But even UV has its moments.

I don’t know the last time I’ve listened to a Lana Del Rey album, I was really into her during the Born To Die and Paradise eras, and expected her to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys and such and then it didnt happen...anywho, I kinda lost interest going forward, but I decided to check out the album after reading this thread, and wow, it didn’t disappoint. It’s quite pretty and enjoyable, and I see myself listening to it a few times over in the coming days. :)
I’m probably going to listen to her other albums going in reverse, and really looking forward to NFR as well considering a lot of your views on that one, and her AOTY nom.

Ranking her albums is so damn hard, because I was/am obsessed with and love all but two. Today, I'd go:
Norman f**king Rockwell Lust for Life Ultraviolence Honeymoon Born to Die Paradise Chemtrails Over the Country Club
The top four change all the time, but it's always those four.

Pretty but stacked against the other songs already released Im not expecting anything too groundbreaking here. I do think this may be her best vocal i’ve ever heard though? Here’s to hoping the song she drops in the last two minutes of the music video is on the album as well…

Album out now. Very full of piano ballads. I got bored toward the end but her vocals shine on a few of the songs.
