Legend! I never thought I’d see the day. Shallow was a fluke.

Did the chart predictions overestimate Blinding Lights or underestimate Rockstar?

I’m happy that Circles is done in the top ten ☺️ I love the song but I’ve been getting annoyed seeing it there every week tbh

Did the chart predictions overestimate Blinding Lights or underestimate Rockstar? It seems like BB/Nielsen have re-calibrated its audience estimations again. I had Blinding Lights at 89M airplay, but it's only at 77M. Last week, BL had 89M. Btw... Billboard is trying to hide this from us. They posted BL's airplay numbers because it's #1 on Radio Songs, but they didn't post any radio numbers for the other nine songs.

Toosie Slide might be the next contender for being at every spot in the top 10 like Circles.

Circles could sneak in for a week or so - you never know
Intentions - 13 weeks in the top 10 -- 6th week at #9 with 4 weeks at #8 and 3 weeks at #10
By a couple weeks a top 10 chart run record for getting no higher than #8
4 #1 debuts now in the last 8 weeks

Yes, it's even weaker now. This is the first time I've seen the radio #1 below 80M.

An incredible run of #1s for Ariana this year. The record I desperately want her to break is to get 5 #1s in one calendar year. Rihanna holds that record with 4 in 2010. (Rude Boy / Love The Way You Lie / What's My Name / Only Girl). She 3 more to go!
Congrats Gaga!! Talk about a career rebound. So many pressed people wrote her off just after Artpop. Eggs on their faces!

Can someone explain this to me:
The song was on sale in four physical/digital combination offerings during the tracking week. Consumers could purchase cassette, CD and vinyl singles, each with a digital download; the download would be sent to consumers upon purchase, with physical versions due to arrive at a later date.
So if the cassette is purchased, is that counted as 2 sales, since it comes with the digital download? Thanks.

Oh right! Gaga has number ones in three decades! And it only took her 11 years and 5 months to achieve!

Also there's no redeem. they add +digital single to counted in release week right away because physical is only counted when they're shipped. those physical are not manufactured yet, which is why they're all shipped 3 months later.

Definitely, another case of deliberate omission.

It was interesting because there was a controversy in which it appeared some of WBT's digital sales were given away for free that first week it hit #1, in which case if they weren't counted Hollaback Girl would've been #1 a fifth week. 13 weeks of course still would've been amazing for WBT, and it still would've been song of the summer and #1 year-end. #1 for the 2000's decade might not have been so certain, and it also might have ranked slightly lower on all-time lists. I remember that vividly. 😎 It was extremely controversial among the fan forums. Billboard even had to release a statement about how Digital sales would be counted from then onwards with regards to ‘We Belong Together’s’ first week at number one. In 2005 and through to 2006/2007 their were multiple Digital music stores; iTunes (the biggest), MSN, Real Music Store, Walmart Digital Store etc. which made Download calculations somewhat unreliable which is why their were many weeks where Digital sales weren’t completely accounted for and their was missing data. Apparently the first song to actually sell well over 100K downloads in a single week was Kanye West’s “Golddigger” and not D4L’s “Laffy Taffy”. I remember their was a big glitch on iTunes and a heavy percentage of his sales were somehow missed the week it leapt to number one. Also, let’s not forget the meltdowns that ensued when Underwood’s “Inside Your Heaven” replaced “We Belong Together” at number one for a week in July. Many of the Lambs thought it was the end of “...Together’s” reign, despite its huge airplay, and were trying to cry foul because “...Heaven” had combined Physical & Digital sales when it went to number one. 💀 Oh, how I miss the drama of the early-2000’s Hot 100. Wow I had no idea about this - super interesting! To think "We Belong Together" could've been a 15 week #1 without American Idol dang. I remember running home after school to watch the "We Belong Together" music video on MTV LOL

This is truly an unforgettable moment for Gaga and us Little Monsters. In January I would've been happy with one top ten hit but damn, things have changed in just 4 months.
Her comeback to the top of the charts is actually one of the most interesting and organic journeys I've ever witnessed. Over the years she has done nothing but been herself, done different things: acted, sang her ass off music from jazz to house and country pop. Now she's conquering the charts all over the world with a concept album about kindness and dancing through the painful memories and healing while doing it. So proud of her!
But! Rain on Me wouldn't be as successful as it is without Ariana making it a fantastically equal duet. She elevates the song even further. It is not a gimmick feature, it is two singers doing their best with an irresistible song.

Ariana went her first several years without a #1 and now she has the record for most #1 debuts. Amazing.
