Ariana went her first several years without a #1 and now she has the record for most #1 debuts. Amazing. She really turned it around

I'm so impressed. Lady Gaga basically scored two #1s in 15 months. If you told me in 2018 she'd be back at the top of the charts with multiple hits, I'd laugh in her face. Her work ethic is really something else

Women continue to rule: Lady Gaga and Grande combine for the seventh Hot 100 No. 1 credited to two or more women (and no other billed acts), and the third in four weeks. Prior to the latest three such leaders, five such songs had led over nearly 40-and-a-half years. Here's an updated list of every Hot 100 No. 1 exclusively by multiple women soloists: Title, Artists, Weeks at No. 1, Date Reached No. 1 "Rain on Me," Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, one (to date), June 6, 2020 "Savage," Megan Thee Stallion feat. Beyoncé, one, May 30, 2020 "Say So," Doja Cat feat. Nicki Minaj, one, May 16, 2020 "Fancy," Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX, seven, June 7, 2014 "S&M," Rihanna feat. Britney Spears, one week, April 30, 2011 "Lady Marmalade," Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & P!nk, five, June 2, 2001 "The Boy Is Mine," Brandy & Monica, 13, June 6, 1998 "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)," Barbra Streisand & Donna Summer, two, Nov. 24, 1979 How many songs by two or more men have led the chart?

Ariana went her first several years without a #1 and now she has the record for most #1 debuts. Amazing. Although it’s important to note that she almost debuted at #1 with Problem. Wasn’t it only 2-3k sales away from being #1 on the Hot 100? If I remember correctly, yes, and it was #3 that week? That top 3 was super competitive

Life Is Good won the #10 spot race! Yes! Goodbye, Circles, it's been a GREAT run. The BEST news this week. “LIG” is perhaps my favourite Drake feature in years. I just can’t get enough of the song and I really want it to continue to show longevity. Any news of whether he’s releasing a studio album this summer, or do you think due to the current social climate he’ll push it back? I’m pretty sure Kendrick Lamar is doing the same thing, or so I read on IG (I don’t know if the post was accurate).

Congrats to Gaga and Ariana for achieving #1 this week (and for Ariana to have 4 #1 debuts is insane). But as we all know, all good things must come to an end, and so is the iconic and legendary Top 10 run of "Circles" which finally departed the Top 10 after 38 straight weeks in it.

Doesn’t “Circles” have a chance of climbing back into the Top 10, or not?
Why are we praising it falling out this week? I-

Radio is Circles' strongest component (more than 50%), and we all know how weak radio numbers are now (BL lost like 10 mil since last week and 34 mil overall)...and yeah, Roses is coming too.

Thanks for informing me. I didn’t quite understand the sarcasm from the other user. It’s just that “Circles” fell out before and then climbed back in; I assumed it’d probably do the same next week or the week after so I didn’t want to get too comfortable. 💀 Do you think that the song has a chance of lasting more than 52 weeks on the chart or will it fall much faster especially with airplay now continuing to decrease?

I've had the feeling for a few months now that Intentions will be able to break the record set by Needed Me in 2016 for longest time spent in the top 10 without reaching the top 5, and seeing as it's still in the top 10 it looks like I may have been right

I mean, Circles is still around #20 on streaming and #30 on sales, top 10 on radio. I think it has a chance, but we don't know what can happen in 14 weeks.

Up next is The Box at 22 weeks, I wonder how long that one would stay.... The synergy with Rockstar=The Box=High Fashion at the moment, I guess fans can switch over with ease to keep them afloat.

Pretty sure it sold like 400k+ downloads that week too. It was exactly 1.3% behind in points and had 438,000 downloads. {Radio/Sales/Streams for the top 3} All Of Me: Radio - 193M (#1)
Sales - 161,000 (#4)
Streams - 7.6M (#2)
Happy: Radio - 163M (#2)
Sales - 174,000 (#3) Streams - 8.6M (#1)
Problem: Radio - 24M Sales - 438,000 (#1)
Streams - 4.4M (#9)
The difference between All Of Me(#1) and Happy(#2) was 0.009%
This was 1 week after 'All Of Me' reached 196 million audience impressions (5th highest of all time)

Drake said summer, which could mean August 31st. A Drake lead doesn't need much promo so a couple weeks before that might be fine.
Nice to see Ari x Gaga at #1! Hope it can stay there next week.

Billboard to Observe 'Blackout Tuesday' in Solidarity 6/1/2020 by Rania Aniftos Billboard will be taking part in #TheShowMustBePaused, or "Blackout Tuesday," in solidarity with the nationwide protests demanding justice. This movement, created by music industry executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang in response to the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other Black citizens at the hands of police, urges that we not conduct business and instead use this time to reflect and learn. The blackout, scheduled for Tuesday (June 2), "is meant to intentionally disrupt the work week," according to initiative's website. "Monday suggests a long weekend, and we can't wait until Friday for change. It is a day to take a beat for an honest, reflective and productive conversation about what actions we need to collectively take to support the Black community." "We are tired and can't change things alone," the statement continues. "In the meantime, to our Black friends and family: please take time for you and your mental health. To our allies, the time is now to have difficult conversations with family, friends and colleagues." See here for more information on #TheShowMustBePaused. www.billboard.com/articles/news/9395063/billboard-black-out-tuesday

Here's What Streaming Services Are Doing for Black Out Tuesday and Beyond 6/1/2020 by Chris Eggertsen Spotify, Bandcamp, SiriusXM and more are meeting the moment with a range of initiatives. As protests sparked by the death of 46-year-old Minneapolis resident George Floyd heated up this weekend, music companies began making statements in support of the movement to end police brutality against black Americans. On Friday, a number of companies and artists began sharing a statement posted under the hashtag #TheShowMustBePaused, which calls for “a day to disconnect from work and reconnect with our community" and “an urgent step of action to provoke accountability and change.”
Started by Atlantic Records marketing executives Brianna Agyemang and Jamila Thomas, who are both black, the call for a day of action -- which is now being called “Black Out Tuesday” -- sparked other companies to post their own messages of support. One of these companies was Spotify, which on Saturday posted an official statement to its social channels that read in part, “We stand with the Black community - our employees, our partners, artists and creators - in the fight against racism, injustice and inequity.”
That statement preceded a larger announcement by Spotify today (June 1), in which the streaming giant revealed that beginning at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, the service will insert a “black logo and headline image” on more than a dozen of its flagship playlists and podcasts; pause social publication as a symbol of solidarity; and add an eight minute, 46 second track of silence in select playlists and podcasts to acknowledge the length of time that George Floyd was suffocated by a Minneapolis police officer. In addition, the streaming platform will be “leveraging” its long-standing Black History Is Now Hub, which features podcasts including Code Switch, You Had Me at Black and Higher Learning with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay and playlists including Black History Salute, We Shall Overcome and Black Lives Matter, which was recently updated for Black Music Month in June.
Spotify will also engage in the “special curation” of select songs on each of the “blacked out” playlists to reflect the current moment, including tracks by Kendrick Lamar, Gary Clark Jr. and Rhiannon Giddens; place a “targeted shelf” prominently on the Spotify mobile and desktop homepages that will drive users to "Black Out" playlists; and run related ads globally on the Spotify Free tier. Later in June, the service will launch a second season of its podcast The Window focusing on the experiences of the black community. Lastly, Spotify notes it has encouraged all employees globally to observe Black Out Tuesday and that it has shared resources with staff on what it means to be an effective ally to the black community. Tomorrow it will also provide access to trained mental health providers for its employees and match financial donations made they make to organizations that are “focused on the fight against racism, injustice, inequity, and driving meaningful change.”
Spotify isn’t the only streaming service taking actionable steps to address the crisis. On Monday (June 1), Bandcamp CEO Ethan Diamond announced that the company will donate 100% of its share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund on June 19, honoring the Juneteenth holiday holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. He said the company plans to carry this on for every future Juneteenth as well. Additionally, the company will allocate an additional $30,000 per year to partner with organizations that “fight for racial justice and create opportunities for people of color.” Elsewhere, in an internal note sent to SiriusXM/Pandora employees that was obtained by Billboard, CEO Jim Meyer noted that SiriusXM's music channels will go silent for three minutes Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m. EST -- "one minute to reflect on the terrible history of racism, one minute in observance of this tragic moment in time and one minute to hope for and demand a better future" -- in tribute to George Floyd and other "countless victims of racism." Meyer additionally stated that the company will understand if employees "need to take tomorrow as a day to disconnect, reflect and connect with the community."
Qobuz, meanwhile, sent an official statement to Billboard noting that the company "supports the day to disconnect from work and reconnect with community." Qobuz managing director Dan Mackta added, "We at Qobuz stand against racism, violence and oppression in all its forms. We join those who mourn the senseless lives lost and who work to build a more equitable society."
SoundCloud will also be taking part in Black Out Tuesday, the company confirmed to Billboard. To mark the day, it will "pause all commercial marketing and promotional activities" and dedicate the service's promotional channels to "amplifying black voices and facilitating dialogue," including a dedicated takeover on SoundCloud's landing page and social channels. It will also encourage employees to take the day off to "reflect, take time to care for themselves and loved ones, and to support their communities and colleagues that are deeply hurting." This post will be updated as more information becomes available.

It seems like BB/Nielsen have re-calibrated its audience estimations again. I had Blinding Lights at 89M airplay, but it's only at 77M. Last week, BL had 89M. Btw... Billboard is trying to hide this from us. They posted BL's airplay numbers because it's #1 on Radio Songs, but they didn't post any radio numbers for the other nine songs. Nor mention the % change from the previous week for BL. Definitely, another case of deliberate omission. To be fair though, in one aspect it wouldn't make sense to include the percentage change, because it would give the inaccurate perception that songs lost audience due to a true loss in spins and popularity, whereas every song lost audience simply because they just re-calibrated again. Now, they could mention the re-calibration, but I agree with you in that they might have omitted that because they didn't want to admit they were inaccurate before.

Random question but did Circles hold every position in the top 10 at one point? So, did it have a week at 1, 2, 3 etc or was there a number it didn’t hit?
