Surprised 'They Don't Care About Us' hasn't been used in more protests. I know everyone's a bit hesitant to promote anything about Michael Jackson after Leaving Neverland but it's one of MJ's most powerful songs and was one of the first protest songs I remembered listening to growing up

Iβm hoping for a surge for βFDTβ but I know Spotify isnβt bold enough to put it in any playlists...

I know this is no better than companies painting their logos rainbow for pride month and doing nothing else but seeing all of the Spotify playlists blacked out did make me extremely happy

Spotify has updated quite a few of their playlists to just black covers with the description of "Black lives matter." Here's the new #1 song on some of those playlists: RapCaviar: "Alright" - Kendrick Lamar Today's Top Hits: "This Is America" - Childish Gambino Hot Country: "Black Like Me" - Mickey Guyton mint: "Someday" - CeCe Rogers Β‘Viva Latino!: "La rebelion" - Joe Arroyo POLLEN: "For Colored Boys" Kota the Friend Are & Be: "Freedom" - BeyoncΓ©, Kendrick Lamar Rock This: "This Land" - Gary Clark Jr. State of Jazz: "Overture / The Moment Revisited" - Christian McBride Teen Beats: "This Is America" - Childish Gambino Lorem: "Introspection" - UMI Ultimate Indie: "Paper Thin" - Lianne La Havas This Land is honestly the perfect song rn after thinking about it

Surprised no Run the Jewels songs are being advertised, especially after Killer Mike's powerful speech.

I imagine itβs for the same reasons βI Just Killed A Cop Now Iβm Hornyβ by JPEGMAFIA isnβt making any appearances.
But there are 1 or 2 Killer Mike songs in the black lives matter playlist

While it isn't exactly about it, I believe that House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls would serve as an outstanding metaphor, especially the chorus
"If it hurts to breathe, open the window Oh, your mind wants to leave but you can't go This is a happy house, we're happy here In a happy house, oh this is fun"
Not to mention that Abel has done a lot for the cause, donating 300k yesterday

A ROTY-award winning ANTHEM!

P.S: I need βAmerican Oxygenβ and βThey Donβt Care About Usβ to be added onto several important playlists now.

I know this is no better than companies painting their logos rainbow for pride month and doing nothing else but seeing all of the Spotify playlists blacked out did make me extremely happy I think there's a bit of a difference, too. Spotify isn't changing their logo or running ads trying to get Black people to use their service. It's empowering the people who already use Spotify. Which feels a bit more sincere compared to a Coca Cola ad. They picked amazing songs. Also remember that music is a powerful form of education. When a non-black person sees a random company advertising how they stand with BLM, it's not gonna educate them or change their perspective. But when that same person plays the "Hot Country" playlist on Spotify, expecting to hear the latest Thomas Rhett or Luke Combs, they're instead going to hear "Black Like Me" by Mickey Guyton, which is a really impactful song about the experience of growing up black in a small town. When hearing that song, It's not hard to pause and reflect about the black experience in some way, which is always a great thing. Good job, Spotify.

If they still choose to hold their views after decades of education, either we must use a different strategy to change them, or accept that they will always be racist and deal with them accordingly.

It sure if this was mentioned but Whatβs Goin On by Marvin Gaye is a great anthem. Promoting peace rather than more division.
