I think maybe she doesn't feel that DFTRM is applicable to where she is in her life at this point now, and that's one of the possible reasons why she doesn't perform it anymore? It's a coming-of-age song where she's venturing out into the real world on her own for the very first time in her life as a young adult. But it'd be nice for her to pay homage to it every once in a while though, as I'd like to think that it's still somewhat close to her heart given the sentimental nature of the lyrics, and her mom even being in the video for it.

She’s never going to stop doing her bigger stadium hits. UI and LN are clearly two she very much enjoys, and they do promote a lot of audience participation because they’re recognizable to the die-hards and casuals.

Saw her last night and I love that she’s really embracing the fact that her legacy is set in stone and she can kinda just…do whatever the hell she wants. She sounded and looked amazing, and contrary to some lack of taste being exhibited in here, the setlist was great. Her doing ‘Choctaw’ was a very welcome surprise. Well yes, of course she can do whatever she wants. She's a country legend. Any setlist she does is going to be great, she could sing the phonebook and it would be superb. Yet, that doesn't mean she can't improve. Yes, but minus the desire for “So Small” to be embraced some more (which I agree with), I haven’t seen any other improvements named in here yet.

If she’d bring out “That’s Where It Is,” “You Won’t Find This,” “Someday When I Stop Loving You,” “Do You Think About Me,” and “Choctaw County Affair” or “Renegade Runaway” or both, I would be delighted.

For her Vegas Residency, I think it'd be cool if she were to pay tribute to each era of her career by alternating between fan favorites off of every album she's released so far. Go in order of album release in correlation with each show date, and then just follow the rotation. Reserve 3 spots in the setlist each night for fan-voted favorites off of whichever album was designated for that particular show date, and let it be a surprise. I think something like that would be amazing tbh.

Something like what Kelly did on her Piece by Piece tour, a "Carrie classic" if you will. But a different song every night, not FOTF or CCA every night. Or even a medley of different songs maybe?
Is Last Name really THAT big for her? I definitely wouldn't put it on the same level as something like JTTW or BHC. She could probably cut it and it wouldn't be missed, especially since she's already relegated it to medley status. UI, on the other hand, would be missed.

Of course LN isn’t on the same level as JTTW or BHC; those are career-defining records for her. But yes, it is absolutely on the same level as UI, and was a big hit for her. *You* not missing it or liking it means nothing in the grand scope of CU building out a full setlist. Buckle in for a lifetime of disappointment, because that song ain’t going anywhere.

More people are at her shows for the UI/LN type of songs. Only die-hards, generally speaking, are hoping for the SS, TH, DFTRM type songs. As an entertainer one of the main objectives - and hardest tasks, is retaining audience attention. The best way to do this is to play her most recognizable & participatory hits. Don’t get me wrong, I would LOVE SS and the older “classics” that Carrie hardly performs, but she gives us plenty of those moments in her shows too, so it hard to complain knowing she has to cater to the diversity of her audience who aren’t all die-hards.
Sort of on this topic, I hope one day she does a laid-back acoustic tour in smaller venues. In which case I would expect the lesser-performed oldies, if done right a tour like that could be a massive success for her.

Ok but LN isn't even on the same level as UI so your point is moot. It gets nowhere near as much recurrent airplay, it didn't sell as well, and is not nearly as remembered as UI. There's a reason it's only in a medley even in her current setlist.

Oh my god I forgot how invigorating it is to argue with brick walls.
Anyways the CMA noms come out on the 9th. Any predictions? “Last Name” for Single of the Year, hopefully, since it’s got so many literally-one-person so deeply mad?

You can take my salary for next year if you TRULY think Carrie won’t perform Last Name during her Vegas residency. PM me for my Venmo.

Anyways… Gave Love Wins a spin for the heck of it for the first time in a long time and I really don’t know why it wasn’t a #1 hit. It’s signature Carrie Underwood.

I just feel like "Love Wins" gets a lot of unnecessary hate. Like yeah it's cheesy and a bit of a cliché but honestly, I dig it.

Love Wins—first 2 verses
A stray bullet and a momma cries Her baby won't be coming home tonight Sirens screaming down the avenue Just another story on the evening news, oh Whoa Politics and prejudice How the hell it'd ever come to this? When everybody's gotta pick a side It don't matter if you're wrong or right, no And so it goes, but I hold onto hope and I won't let go 'cause I, I believe you and me are sisters and brothers And I, I believe we're made to be here for each other And we'll never fall if we walk hand in hand Put a world that seems broken together again Yeah I, I believe in the end love wins
She’s literally singing what’s currently happening in the country. It should be easy for country music to have embraced this song and contributed to its success. But, Country music is still a good ole boy genre, too much controversy for them. They don’t want to stir the pot too much.

In terms of "perception" I'd definitely say "Last Name" is up there right behind her signature hits. Way more so than "Undo It."

LN is the fastest (if not, then it’s ONE of the fastest) song of her career to hit the top of the charts. Only 13 weeks. It sold like hot cakes and in the streaming era, it’s one of her biggest songs on streaming platforms. As much as I hate the song (genuinely one of the ONLY CU songs I have ever outright disliked), it’s not going anywhere, in a medley or otherwise, so I’m prepared to hear it whenever I finally get to see and hear her in person.

Agreed with #JusticeforSoSmall
I'd swap that out and ditch All American Girl, personally. But I get why it's a big deal for a large amount of the audience.
Here's my dream that very specific to me: 1. Little Toy Guns never gets cut (I know it's bound to for the Residency or next tour) 2. Carrie brings out Mexico for a tour (not happening - it's the LEAST streamed song on Storyteller, even behind Clock Don't Stop (kind of embarrassing)) and the "oh-ohs" at the end transition seamlessly into the "oh-ohs" that kick off Cowboy Casanova. Think about it.

I just wanted to discuss the setlist. Sorry, didn't realize Carrie could do no wrong and her setlist is 100% perfect and can't be improved ever. I'll remember that for next time. "Last Name" winning Single of the Year is probably more likely than her winning EOTY, so.

Carrie is too beautiful. The looks reminds me of Tears of Gold look. But the video is boring. Even with Smoke Break and Heartbeat video where its just Carrie and no story in the video, i still enjoyed it. But this video looks awkward, Jason Aldean didn’t show any emotion or expression, looks like he didnt even bother to work on the chemistry with Carrie. So different from Remind Me video

Agree about the lack of chemistry. Lost opportunity. Like the song a lot, but they barely even make eye contact. Chemistry with Brad was great. She and Keith seemed to really have fun in "The Fighter." And, "Hallelujah" was awesome! Something is just missing here. But, the song was going to be a monster even without a video. Hope the live performance of this, assuming there is one, will be better.

Carrie looked beautiful and the rest was dreadfully basic. I expected no more, it’s Jason Aldean. I’m just happy they have a hit, the song is really good!
Moving on to the CMAs… fingers crossed for some love!

Y’all I am so nervous for the CMA noms. She is just the most deserving. I feel like I’ve been shouting it for at least the last 5 years. I am wishing and hoping with my whole being! I am praying we all wake up to SPLENDID news tomorrow morning.

The entire video Jason looked like he was contemplating a fart and Carrie looked like an ethereal goddess. Why couldn’t this collab been with anyone else?
