Will this be released in time for Grammy eligibility? Obviously, it doesn’t matter - but if it’s well received I do believe Christmas albums have been nominated for Traditional Pop Vocal Album before. Assuming the eligibility is the same September 1-August 31 that was introduced for the 2020 show, the September 25 release is golden.

This director lists working with Carrie and David Bisbal on his official site: www.alexismorante.com/aboutIf “Tears of Gold” isn’t for the Christmas album, maybe it was recorded for a soundtrack? Given the title and pics from the video shoot, I still tend to think it’s an original co-written for My Gift.

This is one time I feel like there isn’t competition or overshadowing so much...
Even if they were releasing on the same day, hardly anyone who’s just casually interested in either artist is going to pick up their Christmas album THAT early, generally speaking. No matter how heavily promoted in the first week...
It’s pretty much hardcore fans of these artists and hardcore holiday music fans who’d be interested in getting either album in early Fall.

I bet My Gift opens with a similar number to Greatest Hits: Decade #1, maybe a bit less.
But through October, there will likely be a few weeks of 25k sales, then November a bunch of weeks of 50k sales, then December even more.
Hoping certified Gold by January :)

I will say, I’m not particularly enthused by the fact that it’s a month and some change out from release and she hasn’t so much as mentioned a single thing about the album since its announcement. Queen of zero self-promo for her own music.

This isn’t incredibly relevant, but Carrie has been trending on Twitter this evening due to a somewhat viral tweet asking black people what their favorite country song is, and many have mentioned songs by her. There’s also a lot of praise coming her way. Just neat seeing how the general public admire our unproblematic queen.

^im not African American but I will say Carrie is the only country artist I’ve ever really embraced. Her being unapologetically open about supporting the LGBTQ community has always garnered respect from me. I might like two or three songs from some other country artists, but I listen to 20+ from Carrie. Carrie is the only country artist I’ve ever bought an album from unless you count Taylor’s second and third albums.

Ok, not for nothing but Carrie has had a few backlashes in the past couple of years. One being the over reaction of her "injury" and two calling out a women who had the nerve to criticize her work. I wouldn't call her unproblematic, that is just STAN talk.

There’s also a lot of praise coming her way. Just neat seeing how the general public admire our unproblematic queen. If I had a nickel for every time I heard someone say "I hate country music, but I love Carrie Underwood," I would have lifetime VIP tickets to every single live show that she plays from this moment on, with all travel/transportation costs covered, and still enough money left over to go back in time and attend all of her previous ones if that were possible lol. That is still the "Idol" connection working strong even a decade and a half into her career. Fans of all different genres tuned into AI back in its heyday, and so a very diverse group of people got to witness and respect Carrie's remarkable voice. I still believe to this very day that she could have capitalized on that even more if she had attempted to branch out more and cross over. The way I see it .. country music purists were going to accuse her of not being "country" enough, and a "pop vocal diva masquerading as a country artist" either way, so why not?? But that's a whole different topic of conversation, so I digress lol. But yes, she has caught the attention and respect of artists and fans across multiple genres. She even has legends like Melissa Etheridge and Stevie Nicks singing her praises- and according to Michael Jackson's brother, she was selected to partake in the tribute performance at the Grammys (2009 or 2010, I forget) because Michael had "a great admiration" for her. Yolanda Adams, a gospel legend, also admitted to being a long-time fan of Carrie's, and that she couldn't help but "fangirl over her" during their duet together.

I wouldn't call her unproblematic, that is just STAN talk. For all intents and purposes, and specifically by Hollywood standards, she is unproblematic. That's not even a question. Regardless of whether you or anyone else feels that she "overreacted" the extent of her injuries, none of ya'll were there when it actually happened, and you certainly weren't privy to whatever physical and emotional trauma she may have suffered in its immediate aftermath. So no, that doesn't qualify as her being "problematic" in any way. The most "controversial" things about her, at least within her target demographic, have been 1) her animal rights activism, and refusal to perform at rodeos which are very popular in the South, 2) her advocacy for same-sex marriage, and 3) the slight jabs she supposedly made at Trump a few years back, which I honestly don't even remember.

This is so exciting! I just signed up for a free trial of Apple Music because I don’t use it so that I can listen! Carrie actually has a lot going on for this being a “quiet” non touring year so to speak.

First episode was cute. Kind of like an ~intro to Carrie~ which ended up being a relatively predictable playlist of songs for those of us who follow her closely. A mix of women in country + 80s rock. And of her own music, she played “Cry Pretty” (right after Aerosmith so we could hear how/why she + The Love Junkies were influenced to structure it as an arena rock ballad), “Somethin’ Bad” (with a nice prelude about her admiration for Miranda Lambert), and... “Backsliding.” 😭❤️

Just finished... the first episode is straight up Carrie 101 in terms of what you’d expect her to play...
Love hearing an eclectic playlist like this, though, so I’m really looking forward to more of these.

She played a great mix of stuff I thought...very “Carrie” which I loved! The chatter in between the songs was insightful too and I liked how she said she and Brad were like peanut butter and jelly as friends! I thought I read that in future episodes there are going to be interviews too with people but I’m not sure if that’s factual or if I’m making that up now, lol.

I wouldn't call her unproblematic, that is just STAN talk. 1) She was never over reacting about her injury. She required multiple stitches, had to get surgery and was alone when it happened. How dare you try to make it about your wrongful perspective, when it isn’t up to you to decide whether an injury that completely transformed her face was an ‘overreaction’. 2) The response Carrie made was simply saying she is a women who supports other women, and doesn’t bring others down. How is that problematic?

If anyone's interested in this, I'm hosting a Carrie Underwood 2.0 rankdown. It's another rankdown of all of her singles (excluding "Some Hearts" and any promotional singles that didn't go to radio--so just the singles she's sent to country radio), but redone to include the CP era. I know a couple of you have sent lists already, but if anybody else is, the deadline is two weeks away, on September 2 (ignore the deadline in the first few posts) Carrie Underwood Rankdown 2.0

I wonder if Carrie is going to release any singles from the Christmas album. Dolly released one and their albums are coming out on the same day so I guess we'll see.

They're a week apart actually, but that's what surprises (and really disheartens) me. Dolly's comes out a week later and she's already dropped a single, whereas we are now just over one month away from My Gift and she hasn't given us a sneak peek at that gift. In holiday words...Carrie's the "NO you must wait until Christmas DAY" and Dolly's over here with the "just one present on Christmas Eve"

Except the album drops exactly 3 months before Christmas Day lol, but I get your point. It is very irritating tbh. One of the great things about living in this age of social media is that it provides artists a free, easy, and highly visible platform on which to promote their own projects and to actively and directly engage with the public. It's a great tool especially for artists whose marketing teams aren't the best at what they do. I guess just another opportunity that Carrie doesn't care to try and capitalize on. =/ She seems more passionate about connecting with people through her health and fitness tips than with her music these days, imo.

She’ll definitely release singles I’m sure once it’s actually close to Christmas time, but releasing a legitimate Christmas single while it’s August and currently 91 degrees outside where I live isn’t going to connect too well with the public. A single released now isn’t really going to do anything just due to the timing IMO.
