Blown Away is that strange album where every song is either straight fire or is just not good lol. There's very little, if any, middle ground on the album IMO.
Great: GG, BA, TBC, SYA, DYTAM, GIG, WAW
Not good: FC, NETY, OWT, TGFH, LLA, CGAS, WAY
I'm mayyyybe willing to negotiate on "Forever Changed" being okay as opposed to straight up not good, but otherwise...I stand by this.

Blown Away — highest of highs & lowest of lows. But, every single they picked was dead on! Yea, I hear lots of critiques of Carrie’s songs and single choices. But man, she’s got what, 20 something number ones, 7 Grammys, tons of other awards, money to burn, her own exercise clothing line, etc, etc. Sure, I could criticize her song choices too, but what’s the point.

The BA era was worthy of a fifth single for sure. They definitely missed an opportunity, especially considering the long gap there was until the GH album - which we later found out was released as a filler for CU5 because she started a family. DYTAM or WAW remain two potential career hits she never had... The era was massive, and in many ways solidified Carrie as a true entertainer. If Carrie didn’t start off so huge with SH/CR, BA would be the era we all talk about as her most successful...
On a professional level, I think this is the era that brought her to the next level and cemented her legend status, and I’m hoping there’s at least one more era like this down the road. I really feel like something big is coming and I’d love for Carrie to have a major hit again, because it’s honestly been over eight years since she’s had one. SITW was big, but it hasn’t stood the test of time commercially like BA, BHC, and JTTW...
Anyway, yeah, the BA album itself was a rollercoaster, but the era was truly special.

BA era had the best and rightest single choices. I still would have started off with Blown Away and added in “Do You Think About Me” somewhere in there.

Blown Away also had some of her best music videos (specifically Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs).

She was heavily involved in the art direction for the Blown Away era. She was writing video treatments and everything. The Oz references in the BA video and Christine references in TBC were all her idea. I’d love to see that passion from her again in visuals. It really set her apart from most country artists.

"DYTAM" is cute but I don't think it would have added much to her discography had it been a single. "WAW" and "Cupid" were the biggest missed opportunities from Blown Away imo.

SB is probably one of her best videos in terms of telling the story, the whole movie trailer concept was genius.

Call me odd, but I love One Way Ticket. It’s still one of my top summer drinking songs!

I feel like Southbound was the less cringey version of One Way Ticket lol
Wine After Whiskey should have been a single for sure! A classic country song for her discography. Also love Good in Goodbyes.
Can we also mention Storyteller and CP could easily have had 5 singles or more. So many good options

“Southbound” was the song “One Way Ticket” tried to be.
Also re-visiting “Wine After Whiskey” and it totally could have been a big song for her. I wish she would release one traditional-leaning song per album (like “I Told You So”).

Blown Away is her best album and that is a hill I'm willing to die on!! The only straight up bad song she's ever done is Songs Like This. Play On is also her weakest album, though obviously the highs are stratospheric!

The only straight up bad song she's ever done is Songs Like This. The funny thing is this is the only song by Carrie that wasn't released as a single that cracked top forty on country radio because the broadcasters enjoyed it so much. Had it been a single it would've been a surefire hit, and deservingly so! I find this to be one of her finer moments on Play On.

LICK IT! One Way Ticket is my favorite song from Blown Away, LOL. I also love Jesus Jam Who Are You. So powerful. My top 3 songs from Blown Away are: 1. One Way Ticket 2. See You Again 3. Who Are You At the time, I really loved that album, but looking back, besides the songs I mentioned, I only really liked Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs. I liked Storyteller much more. Cry Pretty though. WHEW, what an album to this day. Not ONE bad song. The only album of Carrie's I can say that about.

It's a VERY (x1000000000 very's) close race with Blown Away but Storyteller is where it's at for me. The ONLY song I genuinely don't like on that record is "The Girl You Think I Am" and I would've much preferred if it had been the bonus track and "Little Girl Don't Grow Up Too Fast" would've been Track 11 then it'd truly be perfect for me. Just about every damn song on Storyteller would've been a great single and honestly, she really could've pulled a Shania Twain and gone ham on singles.
RR shuts it down to this very day. That or CB should've been the lead. In fact, I'm thinking I would've gone:
1. Renegade Runaway 2. Like I'll Never Love You Again (prefer over "Heartbeat" tbh) 3. Church Bells 4. Choctaw County Affair 5. Mexico 6. Dirty Laundry 7. Relapse
Those ALL would've been bonafide smashes (CB and DL having been so in reality).

Yes! My two favorite album tracks on that album. I feel like the former was very underappreciated back in the day, but both would have made great singles.

Not only would Renegade Runaway have made the PERFECT lead single but it also would have kept with the alliterative lead single titles (JTTW, SS, CC, GG).

Still to this day Some Hearts remains my favorite album of hers. So many good songs there, and it flows so well from beginning to end. Blown Away is a close second, though. The singles from that one were pretty spot on IMO.

I know I’m the small minority but Play On is my favorite. It’s perfect from start to finish!
