Nick: jam! this is such a groovy (lol) song, and it’s really just what I would want to hear from a theme like this! it’s got such a nice guitar groove and the vocals are super smooth. great track! (9.7)

Samo: I do think this song runs a little long for something that stays fairly similar throughout, but it’s still a great song with some simple but effective lyrics that complement the song very well. The vocals, as with any Earth, Wind & Fire song, are also great. (9.1)

Adrian: It's been a while since I've heard this one! I think it holds up well with time. It remains a fun jam that is just way too catchy to dislike. It's so well-produced and the vocals are great. The horns aren't too over-the-top, making them a really good fit here. It's so enjoyable that it doesn't even hit me that the song is 5 and a half minutes long. It keeps me captivated the entire time because it puts every second to good use. (9.2)

The guitar work also deserves a mention, as I find it to be very pleasant! Taylor’s singing is of course great, and overall this is just a perfect song! great pick! (10)

Samo: The songwriting here...wow. This is some of the best storytelling I think I’ve ever heard, on top of a fantastic instrumental that makes for my favourite Taylor song, and one of my favourite songs of all time. (10)

Nick: this still feels like Gaga’s signature song, and for good reason! it’s an absolute jam! the beat is really energized, and the chorus is all sorts of fun. I don’t like the bridge, but aside from that this is a great track’ (8.9)

Samo: While this isn’t one of my favourite Gaga singles, it still bops and was a great introduction to her as an artist. I didn’t listen to a lot of current music before 2015, but this is one I’d known for years before that, and one I have a lot of nostalgia for. (9.3)

Adrian: I think Lady Gaga had a fairly strong debut with this song. It's catchy, fun, and nostalgic. The production is great and the vocals from both artists are really good. It's probably one of my least favorite Gaga singles, but I still like it quite a bit so that says a lot about how I feel about her music in general. I think she's amazing and for a debut single, this is great. I still come back to it every now and then. (8.6)

Samo: While not quite as strong as her other song in this group, Cruel Summer remains a highlight on Lover, and a career highlight, especially among her pop albums. (9.6)

Leaf: Another fine track from her. I like the euphoric feeling that the chorus gives off. That quiet vocal effect present throughout the song and the shouting she does nearer to the end do bring it down for me though. (7.4)

Trilogy: A rush of a song. This is just a huge slapper and of course, a should-be single. Thumbs up. (8.5)

Nick: peak pop right here! this is a super well written track, and having as great of a singer as Robyn on it certainly doesn’t hurt! the beat is also really cool, and all in all this is just a pretty great track! I kinda wish that the tense beat sorta cut loose at some points, but aside from that I really dig it. (8.9)

Samo: One of the best dance songs of the decade for sure, and one that I’m still not sick of ten years later. The lyrics here are excellent, and complement the beat well despite their sadness. (9.9)

Albie: Ms. Robyn always gets full credit. (10)

Adrian: Is it just me or does this song get chosen in these Pulse games a lot? I can't really complain because I do think the song is quite good. The production is really good and Robyn sounds great here. It's a gay anthem for a reason. But it's definitely a little overused and it has kind of burned on me a little bit. I understand why it was chosen though since it fits the theme perfectly, but now you know why my score for this is a little bit lower than it was last season when this song was sent. (8.5)

Samo: I really like the melodies, but the vocals themselves aren’t my favourite here. The lyrics are great, as you’d expect from MDTBF, I just don’t enjoy the actual song that much. (7.8)


Leaf: Not sure how much I'm feeling the sample here. Apart from that, this is enjoyable enough. The tribal drumming was a nice touch, for example. (7.4)

Trilogy: It's not the best (musical) closer but it's written damn well, and the one of the true cases that supports MBDTF being one of the best albums of our time. Great song. (9.0)

gabe: I’m just gonna straight up say that I don’t think the excessive autotune works here. I think it works in songs like Love Lockdown and Heartless but that weird awful minute-long intro kind of kills it. I think that when the song actually gets started it’s nice but I think it only hits hard compared to the boring opening. I just can’t get over the awful opening. If this song came up on shuffle I’d just skip it because the first minute really ruins it. (6.0)
