unfortunately remaining in 2nd place we have...2. The Lights (walt91 & Lukas )Overall Score: 490.2 | Detour Ranks: #1, #4 | Roadblock Rank: #3 | Special Roadblock Rank: #2 | Final Challenge Ranks: #1, #3 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.2Detour Results:Song #1:(Pop)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: this is such a pleasant track. the vocal melodies are incredibly catchy and the production is super soothing. it’s truly an all time great pop song, and it’s an absolute shame that it never charted (10)Samo: The chorus is iconic for a reason, but there isn’t a lot else going on to keep me interested. The verses aren’t bad, just not as memorable as the rest of the song, but they hold it back from being great. (7.8)jamesflame: ngl i respect this song more than i actually like it. still solid enough (7.8)fearless: “Lovefool” is iconic - I feel like most people would’ve heard that chorus somewhere; it’s also just super catchy. Even outside of that, I think it’s a well-crafted pop song. It’s got a nice groove because of the bassline and the production on this track creates a light-hearted tone and is really easy on the ears. (9.1)Juan Carlos: (9.2)Beno: This is cute, I’ve always liked this one. I guess I can see how it could be a bit annoying, but it’s too catchy to care lmao (7.0)Overall Score: 50.9Song #2:(Alt/Rock)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: probably my 2nd favorite Daft Punk track. the groove is on point and the vocals are super unique and they fit the song great (9.4)Samo: It’s definitely a well-produced song, but I can’t say I love Julian’s vocals here, which means they get kind of grating after more than 5 minutes of song. That being said, the guitar solo in the middle of the song is fantastic, and brought my score up a lot. (8.5)jamesflame: this was my ringtone for like 2 years (10)fearless: The production is top notch in this one and the bassline gives it a certain groove. The guitar solo in the middle of the song is a nice bonus, and the vocal effects on Julian Casablancas’ voice is used enough to enhance the song but not to the point where it’s annoying. (9.1)Juan Carlos: (9.1)Beno: I’ve fallen hard for this song in recent times, Daft Punk’s production is so unbelievably clean here, and the use of vocoders on Julian’s voice sounds fantastic. I especially love the changing synth tone at the chorus, it just gives the song a second wind when it comes on. This is on track to be one of my most played songs of 2020, and for very good reason (9.2)Overall Score: 55.3Roadblock Results:(Sent by Lukas)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: this track has some nice guitar work but I don’t find it particularly gripping. there were far better choices for this theme (7.9)Samo: Sending Shania for this was an interesting choice, but I actually really like this! It’s not among my absolute favourites from her, but it’s very enjoyable, albeit kind of sappy and slow to get going. (8.1)jamesflame: shania twain is so nostalgic for me (8.7)fearless: Some might feel like this is cheesy, but I’m a sucker for songs like these sometimes and “From This Moment On” works for me just like the biggest hit from the album “You’re Still the One” that’s in a similar vein does for me too. Shania sounds good in this and I love the melody as well. (8.9)Juan Carlos: (7.5)Matt: i'm not the hugest fan of these cheesy-sounding, power ballad type tracks, and while the production is light and not too overwhelming, and the vocals are pretty nice, this one didn't really interest me; nothing new that it brings to the table over many, many other similar songs. I also sadly had to dock a few points since i can't say this was too fitting for a team's portfolio in their final round. (4.7)Overall Score: 45.8Special Roadblock Results:(Sent by walt)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: this song is just obnoxious. the synths are irritating and Avril’s vocals just are not it lmao. that post chorus especially is just painful (1.1)Samo: Okay, the drop is a total disaster but...I don’t mind the rest of the song. The production isn’t bad in the rest of the song (outside of the last minute), and Avril’s performance is mostly decent, even if the lyrics are probably some of the dumbest I’ve heard. (3.4)jamesflame: goodbye (2.3)fearless: As a Japanese person idk how I feel about this song… like I get Avril is trying but if the outcome is this… Her delivery is super annoying in the song and it’s not like the other aspects of the song are great either. I don’t think it’s unlistenable but I’d rather not listen to this. (1)Juan Carlos: (5.3)Matt: how can one make a song where literally everything is completely and utterly terrible; like that is honestly an extremely impressive feat that almost makes me want to bump up the score a bit. From the vocals (which i've always hated from john lavigne in the first place), to the disgustingly awful production, to the confusing and pretty stereotypical lyrics, it's amazing this was actually released to the public. I saw something in the RYM comment box along the lines of "If this was by 100 gecs this would have a high rating" but even those intentionally messy compositions by the geccers have much harder-hitting production, lyrics that are at least funny, and honestly enjoyable vocals lmao. This ain't that (0.1)Overall Score: 13.2 -> 46.8Final Challenge Results:Song #1:(Originally Sent: Leg 2 Detour)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: such a jam! I also think that it represents your journey as a team pretty well, since I feel like you two were really all about sending the pop jams (which this is!) (9.5)Samo: My thoughts on this song haven’t changed much, but I do think my score was a little low the first time around. (9.6)Adrian: I already full on praised this song earlier this season. You better believe I'm giving this another perfect score because the song is phenomenal. "Dancing Queen" is one of my favorite songs of all-time and my favorite gay anthem. Everything about this song is perfect from the outstanding production to the amazing vocals. It has one of my favorite choruses ever. I truly adore this song. (10)BB: (9.1)eidde: (8.2)born: (9.1)rom: anyone who doesnt like this song is a total loser who has no idea how to have fun (9)shazam: just a super, super feel good song. i usually can't really vibe with Abba but there's no denying just how uplifting and fun Dancing Queen is. i love the orchestration, just an all around anthem (8.9)Fire: f*cking bop (8.6)ry4n: (9.5)MoD: I'm sorry to all the ABBA fans out there, but seriously, I can't stand this song at all. The chorus is really annoying in my opinion, and I have heard this song so many times it has become unlistenable to me. I totally get the appeal if you are into this type of music though, but I don't think I will ever be able to enjoy this song (2.5)Leo: (10)shruggie: (9)Mylo: (9.8)Matt: an absolutely massive tune, with both its killer chorus and super polished and bright vocal performances. that piano line at the opening of the song never fails to put me in a good mood as well. it can get a bit embarrassing as it goes on so it's hard to come back to but it's always a treat lmao (8.8)D12: (9.7)Overall Score: 141.3Song #2:(Originally Sent: Leg 9 Detour)Nick: the production on this song is simply fantastic, as are Amy Winehouse’s vocals. similarly to Dancing Queen, I think this song describes your journey as a team well since you two were sending the great pop songs all game. also it’s the highest scoring song of the game, I’d be disappointed if you didn’t send it lol (9.9)Samo: It was already a great song the first time I judged this, but it’s grown on me even more since. (9.9)Adrian: I know I'm in the minority for not loving "Rehab", although I think it's a pretty okay song. But "Back To Black" just had me the whole time. The piano, the percussion, and just the whole dark and haunting vibe of the song is outstanding. Amy Winehouse sings with such soul and she sounds amazing here. What a track. I don't think I've ever heard this before, but it is quite fantastic. (9.7)BB: (10)eidde: (8.6)born: (10)rom: i feel genuinely kinda ashamed that i hadn't listened to this song earlier than i did because good lord this is badass (8.8)shazam: bluesy, jazzy, soul-fueled and chilling. probably my favorite Amy track, just love the piano combined with the soulful vocals. (8.6)Fire: this is really good (7.6)ry4n: (10)MoD: Amy Winehouse, and more specifically, this album, has always given me tons of nostalgia, and I think Back To Black is a song where that feeling really showcases for me. But putting that aside, it is also gorgeously made. The instrumental is smooth but it also really gives the song a sense of greatness without being something giant. And her vocals are so, so beautiful, so when you have a gorgeous melody on top of that, it's obvious that the result is going to be pure quality. (9.2)Leo: (9.6)shruggie: (10)Mylo: (9)Matt: another one that starts off with a killer piano line but it remains layered in the instrumental throughout the track, with amy winehouse's sultry voice accompanying it in the best possible way. The melody is super engaging in addition, and the killer line at the end of the chorus perfectly sets the emotional tone of the track. Spectacular tune (9.4)D12: (9.6)Overall Score: 149.9you two had an incredible performance in the final challenge (aside from one score), and did really well overall, just not quite well enough to win the race. thank you so much for playing!and so, the winner of the second season of Pulse Amazing Race is...1. The Canadian Ducks (willapted33 & matteeeb )Overall Score: 503.35 | Detour Ranks: #2, #3 | Roadblock Rank: #1 | Special Roadblock Rank: #1 | Final Challenge Ranks: #2, #4 | Bonus From Last Leg: +0.7Detour Results:Song #1:(Pop)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: the writing is pretty fantastic here. Lorde also sounds great as always. the production is quite minimalist but I dig it! great track! (9.5)Samo: I was surprised this hadn’t already been used at all, but I’m so glad it gets its time to shine, because this is just a phenomenal pop song (although I’ve always slightly preferred “A World Alone”). The vocal layering in the intro sounds magical, and the relatively simple (but still amazing) beat in the verses allows the lyrics to shine. (9.8)jamesflame: lorde is kind of a hit or miss for me but this is a hit (8.6)fearless: Well… I did send this song for Last Stand so of course I love this song! It’s one of the highlights on Pure Heroine and still holds up well today especially compared to “Royals” that hasn’t aged as well (it’s still good though). Lyrically it centers around growing up and I feel like we have all somehow struggled with coming to terms with that. The way that Lorde’s delivery speeds up and the music picks up in the chorus to me always felt like was some kind of representation of time going by fast and that growing up comes at you really fast - not sure if that was Lorde’s intention but I’ve always loved that about the song. (9.3)Juan Carlos: (8.3)Beno: The perfect late night driving song, the crescendos of this song are on another f**king planet. I used to swear that “Royals” was peak Lorde for years but I really think she outdid herself here, this will probably be my highest ranking of this set tbh. I don’t have a lot to say about this one really, other than whenever I hear it I want to listen to it again and again lol (9.3)Overall Score: 54.8Song #2:(Alt/Rock)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: such a vibey track. the synth work is wonderful and I love the vocals on most Tame Impala songs which is no different here. one of their best! (9.1)Samo: I keep liking the Tame Impala songs sent, but I can’t say I love any of them, though this gets fairly close. The bassline is fantastic, and aside from the vocals I really love how the song sounds. (8.6)jamesflame: kinda burned on me over time but still great nonetheless (8.9)fearless: As I have learned while going through Tame Impala’s discography and also hearing what other people have said about this song, this is about as poppy as Tame Impala songs get apparently. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad, in fact it’s one of Tame Impala’s best songs imo. It’s still got that signature psychedelic vibe and some iconic lines as well (“She was holding hands with Trevor, Not the greatest feeling ever, Said, "Pull yourself together, You should try your luck with Heather” and “Said, “Come on Superman, say your stupid line” in particular). (9.7)Juan Carlos: (9.5)Beno: Triple j’s best song of the decade, and I’m not really about to argue it’s placement there lmao. From the moment the bass hits it’s 4 minutes of psychedelic bills, truly Tame Impala at their best. This is another song that’s awesome for playing in the car with mates at max volume btw, preferably with bass boosted speakers lmao (8.2)Overall Score: 54Roadblock Results:(Sent by Zedd)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: musical perfection. the piano loop is wonderful and the vocals really fit it well. I also love the lyrics and it’s a fantastic fit for the theme (10)Samo: I do really like this, but outside of the fantastic piano riff this has never been one of my favourite Coldplay songs. The lyrics are really nice, but like with many of their songs I don’t really like Chris Martin’s vocals. (8.8)jamesflame: absolute musical bliss (10)fearless: That piano riff in “Clocks” is just iconic. It’s a beautiful riff, memorable and also brings a certain energy to the song. Overall the music is beautiful, but the lyrics are great as well especially in these confusing times when time is moving but also feels stationary in a way. (9.5)Juan Carlos: (9.8)Matt: man, the nostalgia i have with this song is crazy, starting with the simple yet absolutely spectacular piano line and continuing throughout the entire song which just fills me with nothing but pure euphoria. Chris Martin and crew have just created this wonderful atmosphere with this track that just sounds like a blissful trip through the stars. Thanks guys for picking this one. (9.8)Overall Score: 57.9Special Roadblock Results:(Sent by will)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I can’t believe there’s really still flat Earthers. it’s kinda wild. the song is also really annoying musically and awful lyrically lol. terrible and unnecessary outro also (0.2)Samo: Well, this day had to come eventually. This is actually my first time hearing this song outside of a couple lines, and it’s somehow worse than I expected. Even ignoring the unrelenting wave of dumbassery that is the lyrics, the beat just sounds ugly, and B.o.B isn’t using any particularly interesting flows, which all means this isn’t even ironically enjoyable. (0)jamesflame: this song is stupid but i dont hate it :/ (5)fearless: The rap is pretty bad in the song imo, and the fact that he’s advocating that the earth is flat in this track too smh… Just everything about this track is bad. Is his rapping even on beat? I get that some offbeat rapping can happen intentionally but this just doesn't sound good. (0.1)Juan Carlos: (1.5)Matt: the productions and flows really do not matter the slightest bit if the lyrics and the message are this far-off base. dude manages to advocate for a flat earth, attempt to expose conspiracies in the U.S government, and claim that the holocaust was a hoax. can't believe this dumbass was the same dude who made all those happy and fun songs back then like nothin' on you and magic; me and the boys would get lit to those songs back in the day. (0)Overall Score: 6.8 -> 53.2Final Challenge Results:Song #1:(Originally Sent: Leg 11 Detour)Judge's Thoughts:Nick: I also think it shows your journey as a team well for the reasons described in my Aretha blurb (10)Samo: squirteas? (10)Adrian: I'll always remember this as the song that first introduced me to Kim Petras. Having said that, I don't think it has particularly aged well. I still think it's one of her best songs and her vocal range is quite amazing. But I'm not exactly a huge fan of the beat and the production. I enjoy the chorus quite a bit though and the best thing about the song, like I said, is her vocals. So I still like it, just not as much as I used to. (8)BB: (10)eidde: (8.8)born: (7.8)rom: i prefer charli xcx a lot more over kim petras in terms of glitchy hook-based pop, but this song is pretty cool (7.5)shazam: such a slapper, best thing Kim's ever done. this has some roots in bubblegum bass/PC music with the kinda cutesy sound, but it's so nicely produced and is a massive earworm. pretty damn close to pop perfection if you ask me (9.5)Fire: this is amazing. that's really all i can say (9.4)ry4n: (7)MoD: I feel like the only one on pulse who fails to see Kim Petras' appeal. I mean, she makes perfectly fine pop songs like this one, but I don't think she is like one of a kind or something like that. This song is pretty catchy though, and the beat is good, kinda gives me Nine Inch Nails going pop vibes lol, but I don't think it's much more than that :/ (6.5)Leo: (9.8)shruggie: (10)Mylo: (9.7)Matt: Vous jouez? (8.1)D12: (9.4)Overall Score: 141.5Song #2:(Originally Sent: Leg 11 Roadblock)Nick: what a pleasant song. it’s got really nice energy and it's very sweet. I also think it represents your team well as it helped propel you to one of your many wins alongside Heart to Break, and the win in question was in arguably the strongest leg of the race which makes it all the more impressive! (9)Samo: I really don’t have anything to say I didn’t mention last time; it’s Aretha’s best song, and one of the best love songs of the 20th century. (9.7)Adrian: Not my favorite Aretha song, but I still think it's a great track. She's obviously an amazing vocalist and that definitely shows here. And I really like the lyrics here. It's a sweet love song that doesn't really sound like your typical love song, which I like. Even if it's not something that I come back to often, I still enjoy it quite a bit. (8.7)BB: (8.7)eidde: (9.2)born: (9.3)rom: some of the best backing vocals of all time with the exception of maybe something like be my baby (9.2)shazam: overall just a beautiful track, the chorus is so good when the backup singers come in and create this warm, almost wall of sound feel. one of the true greats of soul right here (8.4)Fire: it's cool (7)ry4n: (8)MoD: This song is just so beautiful. Aretha Franklin's voice was simply amazing, and the harmonies created on this song are just so well crafted it's no surprise this song is as iconic as it is. The instrumental may be overlooked on here too, it really fits perfectly what the song tries to convey, but it's understandable given how much Aretha shines on here (9.2)Leo: (9.75)shruggie: (10)Mylo: (7)Matt: godDAMN man this is a classic for a reason. the vocal performance from aretha here is nothing short of transcendent, and the unique structure of the song as well as the incredibly engaging melody as a whole just make this a perfect song to listen to at any point. hard to put this into words but it is a near perfect tune lkmaosook (9.7)D12: (8.7)Overall Score: 141.25you two have both made some fantastic choices throughout the race, and it shows in the calibre of your final challenge choices, on top of your wins for both roadblocks. congratulations on winning season 2 of Pulse Amazing Race!

Honestly I can’t say I’m super mad about third considering both other teams are extremely deserving of top two!
When I first signed up for this, I didn’t really know what to expect, and definitely didn’t expect to get this far. Having Samb as a partner was definitely one of the best things about this whole thing! Thank you Samb for being a cool guy and making this such a fun experience!
Also props to Nick and Samo for this incredible season of PAR. Y’all really pulled off so much and did a killer job!
Finally, Congrats Will and Zedd for the win, you guys definitely have killed it each round!

Out of the remaining teams, the Canadian Ducks had my lowest score (all because of "Heart To Break") but still a great run.
Congratulations everyone!
