Lil Baby's success is really underrated here. Since 2018, only Drake and Travis Scott have more streaming songs #1s than him and now he's also in the conversation for #1 album of the year.

He's also one of the cases of Drake having a great eye for talent. He got his first top 10 hit and first Hot 100 entry on a song with Drake. It's also his second biggest hit after Drip Too Hard with Gunna and since then he's really exploded. Gotten more hits and more entries on his own and has become a way better rapper. I'm really happy for him. I wish more rappers like him knew how to capitalize on a co-sign or look from a bigger artist. We'd have way more mainstream rappers making waves right now.

There are no releases I see impacting the chart significantly so Rockstar for number one. I hope DSN can climb back into the top five.

Can we talk about how Roddy Ricch is doing so well on radio? Two top 10 radio hits (The Box and High Fashion) another top 15 radio hit (Ballin') and ROCKSTAR quickly rising as well. This kind of radio presence seems unheard of for a new rapper.

Weather The Weeknd is underperforming so far i will compare it with an album from last year:
'After Hours' was released at the begining of the 12th week in 2020 YTD
'thank u, next' was released at the begining of the 6th week in 2019 YTD
The two albums at same time in their lifespan:
tun week 16 YTD 1,263,000 (after 11 weeks)
AH week 22 YTD 1,292,000 (after 11 weeks)
This metric favours The Weeknd a bit, because he had 6 weeks more to accumulate album units from pre-released singles in 2020 only.
At the end of 2019 Ariana had 2,056,000 SPS. The Weeknd won't be matching this because 'thank u, next' had good longevity, which i don't see from 'After Hours'. 'WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO?' was released in the 13th week of 2019. It had 1,246,000 SPS in week 23 (after 11 weeks) but this album had insane longevity. So it is not fair comparing it. 2,518,000 SPS at the end of 2019.
But either way He won't be far behing Ariana Grande. So is The Weeknd underperforming ?
Lil Baby shouldn't be underestimated. He is undeniably BIG.

Not in terms of commercial performance and consistency, it isn't. Quality>Quanity. Sure My Turn "in terms" could have a better commercial performance and consistency than After Hours but at the end of the day it's all about quality of the music. This discussion started for biggest album of the year (commercially). I don't think anyone said Lil Baby>The Weeknd quality wise. Even tgd said Lil Baby > The Weeknd in a commercial sense.
After Hours is the 2nd best album for me in 2020. It will remain top 3 even though we have 7 more months in this year ( i don't see that much better albums coming out).

2 million is possible for After hours. Considering 22 weeks left for Billboards 2020 YE charts. Even if it does 27k average for 22 weeks, he'll be around that figure. Currently, AH numbers are 37k-40k. He has already said this is a visual album, so more videos incoming.

But the real question is can drake's upcoming album do 2.5M-3M without pre-released SINGLES within 22-26 weeks .Last year posty's HB made 1.5M within 5 day because of pre released singles. Drake topping YE albums chart is not given right now(with no pre released singles as of now.)

^^To note, we should be getting the mid-year numbers in about a month, which should give us a fair idea of where things stand then.

Do we know how much of 'My Turns' units are the result of its deluxe edition? If I remember correctly it had a decent album bomb on the Hot 100.

Otherside of America is #9 in Apple Music and #34 in iTunes. Can it possibly debut higher than Worldwide Beautiful in the Hot 100?

Album units in 2018 - units from pre-released singles in 2018
3,052,000 SPS without pre-released singles. btw this was 26 weeks.
It depends when he releases his album and how big it is. Hollywood's Bleeding had way more units from pre released singles compared to Scorpion because it was releaded later and had more singles pre album.

It's really tough to do 3M without both, but hope he or someone else does. Or else this year would just stuck with 5-9 albums with 2M and not a single album over 3M units.

I wouldn't consider My Turn an album. It is a playlist. That doesn't make it any less valid or it doesn't say anything about it's quality, but it and many, many other projects aren't really albums. You know what a song from After Hours is supposed to sound like, you know that there is an aesthetic, you've bought some merch, it was an event, whereas Lil Baby's project is there purely for listening to it
