Here's some fun
X info before we proceed, courtesy of MixKylie.co.uk
Truckloads of songs were submitted for Kylie's post-cancer comeback album, enough to fill 3 CDRs - nearly 50 songs! The track listing of the CDRs leaked online in the late 00s and audio of these demos have been slowly leaking for years.
If anyone has some time to burn, you can find most of them on YouTube and compare to the 13 songs (+8 B-sides) we got on the final album.
From MixKylie:
In May 2007, news spread of a 3-disc CDR set containing 49 Kylie demos being in the hands of a Kylie fan. Some of the tracks have titles the same as old demos and releases. At least seven of the songs are tracks pitched to Kylie and are sung by session singers but around 42 of the other demos are true Kylie demos and outtakes. A few of the tracks leaked onto the Internet in the following years, with the majority of the remaining tracks leaking on 3rd/4th February 2017. Thanks to Kane Walker for much of this information. X was the first studio album I bought from Kylie, after getting the Ultimate Collection, which I loved. It was a soundtrack to several work trips where I’d play my favorite tracks as a playlist while walking around Eastern European cities :) so was a big fan of most of the album. I still hear my favorites once in awhile, although a few songs have lost a bit of their appeal after some years.
13. Cosmic (12): There’s a nice pleasant melody in parts of the verse and chorus, but they seem undercooked, like they could’ve benefited from some extra time to wrap them up nicely instead of lazily finishing them up IMO. In any case it ended up in the forgettable bucket to me. Even now writing this I didn’t remember how the song went
2 Comments:
1. How many countries have you lived in?!?!?
2. The part of "Cosmic" that I always remember is the opening line "Wanted to write a song called Cosmic..." along with the line "I wanted so much but only needed you"
Sometimes the chorus comes to me after that and sometimes it doesn't.
