I've been on this site for a while now and I still don't even think I know what a bundle is.

Radio deals need to be forbidden, especially those massive deals (think Cardi & Bruno's Please Me) that can influence chart positions quite a bit and result in almost 40M audience within 7 days. That's beyond ridiculous and shady. The deals you speak of are only one day deals. The other 6 days are organic. And if you seriously want to get rid of those single day radio deals, then I guess you are also in favor of banning televised performances, streaming playlists, and promotion in general, eh? Because they all have the same end goal.

2020 is getting worse by the minute Another desperate attempt to reach #1 by Bieber even though he wouldn't get credited. Remind me of what happened with Bad Guy.

Labels are not able to influence exactly what any station plays. Similarly, labels can't just tell Spotify to put a song on Today's Top Hits. In most cases, the "deals" come with incentives like concert tickets artist give away to the listeners of that channel, or on the flip side, for big enough artists, radio needs them more than they need radio. Announcing "we're playing new Taylor Swift song top of every hour" is a great way to get people to listen to you and interact with you on socials.

Why are y'all dragging Abel, when Blinding Lights went #1 organically well after release, and it's still the #1 song on radio. Of all the artists to use bundles he's like the least problematic lol. Uh, no. Abel used bundles every week from the day Heartless dropped as a single till well after he dropped his album. He used all sorts of bundles for his album as well. Blinding Lights didn't go #1 in the UK until he used bundles over there. You can go through this page and see that he made new bundles available every single week, starting from the week he released Heartless/Blinding Lights as singles.

I think the main issue with bundles is that they are seen as quick cash/digital sales grab and can be released with no prior discussion just to get a song to go #1 or top ten or whatever. "Blinding Lights" didn't fall into this category in my opinion after its first week where it barely missed top ten. Its rise has been organic and it has been holding steady. "Heartless" is the black sheep of the two.

I believe releasing bad music destroyed Katyβs career but thatβs just me Maybe she got derailed a bit for a while but "Never Really Over" is one of the best songs of her career and audiences still dropped it after like 10 weeks.

In addition, Billboard will no longer allow sales of physical albums or singles that are bundled with digital downloads to be reported as digital sales, thereby eliminating the practice of βspontaneousβ non-manufactured items being used to influence first-week chart rankings. Can you increase the font i can't read this.

Bundles just mean more unmemorable songs going #1 where chart watching kids 40 years from now will go "How on gods Green earth was this the most popular song in America for a week? Literally never heard of it". Trollz will become the definitive "Bundles era hit"

Streaming is, by far and away, the most accurate measure of music consumption. Streaming is how people and most active music consumers (youth) absorb music in digital age. There's no need for a seperate ''streaming songs'' chart anymore. Hot 100 should be all streaming chart! thats just called the streaming chart sis

You can open Spotify and listen to an album without buying a $200 ticket? That takes the fun out of it tho

Radio should be weighted less but still counted imo. Until it and sales completely die out, the hot 100 should not just be streaming.

I hope y'all realize if they take out radio and just make the Hot 100 a streaming charts, Blinding Lights wouldn't have the longevity it has.

With no radio, the Billboard charts will have a turnover as that of the Uk charts which only follows streams and downloads. This doesn't mean songs will not have longevity, Dance Monkey spent 11 weeks at #1, and is still in the top 40.. Blinding lights spent 8 weeks, Rockstar 6, etc. If billboard excludes radio, no one is really being cheated, and big pervasive hits are not being marginalized.

The problem isn't radio being included imo, but radio's fckin lack of pace as of recent. It's just pathetic at this point they're basically now ignoring most new music in preference of a majority playlist that are megahits from 6 months - 2 years ago. It's intolerable that Don't Start Now, Circles, Blinding Lights, and Adore You are still being played every single hour on stations. Seriously who can sit and tolerate hearing these songs every single time they turn on their car still? You truly have to be the most basic type of person that just isn't in touch with anything else in music.
Hopefully radio's audience doesn't go back up anytime soon if they're going to keep this record slow pace going. Over half the top 10 is still songs released 2019. I wish radio executives were able to get detailed information as to which songs cause people to turn stations the most because I am so sure people are turning the stations at huge rates when these same ass songs get played at this point even if they don't dislike the songs in general.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but I think Radio audiences have been skewing older for a while now. Arenβt Top 40 stations getting lower ratings in most markets than Hot AC/AC? Working class people in their 40s arenβt listening to new music on Spotify every Friday morning. It makes sense why they still think βBlinding Lightsβ is the hot jam.

Looks like Spotify is now promoting this new TikTok playlist A lot of those playlists tend to be 'pay-to-play.' Small independent artists will pay some money to get added, and then they put in a bunch of filler songs that did actually get big from TikTok.

Funny how Travis scott got 2 no 1 from bundles and still got away from getting mentioned. Poor Justin, lol. We haven't nicknamed him Bundle Scott for nothing. He is probably the artist that stands to lose the most from the new rule coming into effect in both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200.

Good holds again for Juice on Spotify. Top 21 features all his 17 songs. 9 out of top 10 still.
