Why is paying tribute to the 40th anniversary of Urban Cowboy more important than paying tribute to John Prine, who we lost because of the very pandemic that's turned this show into what it is? lol. Sadly because more people know the Urban Cowboy movie then John Prine. You have to remember getting ratings are more important to ABC then honoring our legends. I’m surprised they even did a tribute to Joe Diffie.

Always love Brothers Osborne and think they are better than what they get credited for.

This thread definitely isn't as fun as the ACMs were which is likely an indication of the ho-hum show.

Let's just be blunt besides the early wins for Maren Morris, Morgan Wallen winning New Artist, and the one two shot of Chris Stapleton and Ingrid Andress the show has been a flat out dud.
At least the ACMs had the tie for Entertainer, and very big performances from Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. The show tonight just feels so dull and if it is not dull it is worry about the Covid of it all.

There’s definitely a highlight of newer artists and I’m taking it perhaps that the CMA made a conscious decision to go that way... it just seems “phoned in”, I guess, and completely tone deaf given the state of our country. But I do appreciate seeing lots of new artists get their moment on the big stage. I guess if there was a year to do this, it’s this one given the lack of buzz anyway.

I will say I will give credit to Caylee Hammack she seems to be really energetic in the audience tonight and trying to bring some energy into the show.

Maren Morris is such a natural star and I wish she got the Morgan Wallen/Luke Combs treatment with radio because this performs just screams big energy and her vocals are great

Found my bathroom break song. Sorry "God Whispered Your Name" is not good and there is a reason why it flopped on country radio for Keith Urban's standards. It's not a good song

If tonight shows us anything, it’s that Maren Morris has officially (and rightfully) claimed her spot as the current big name in country music. I’d say the only one who comes close to her right now is Luke Combs.

I wonder why they couldn’t get big names for the awards. A lot are missing. Garth, Blake, Kane, Sam, Midland

I can’t believe we missed the chance to see Carly accept her award for subpar performances like these. 🙄

Ugh Maren Morris deserves all the love in the world.
Still feels awkward Kelsea Ballerini is performing but I hope she brings it tonight

Thankful to have tuned in for a split sec to see Maren win Female and give the speech of the damn night. Maren's the best and so are the Black women this industry continues to pay total dust.

I guess I’m in the minority but I thought Keith did a great job. I love how he changed it up some. I feel like his passion for what he does always shines through.
