Bonnie Raitt is such a class act! It astounds me now looking back on it that she was able to even get pop hits, but this was her second last one (her cover of You Got It would briefly chart in 1995). This song isn't nearly as well known as Something To Talk About but I'd put it almost on par with it. Both are great!

I actually don't mind "Crazy", despite my low rank. One of their more tolerable songs (aside from "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing", which I love). I definitely expected "Love Sneakin' Up On You" to be higher.

I knew the last Tevin song couldn't survive much longer. I expect Babyface to lose his last one soon. I also think Elton, Ice Cube, and Da Brat are in danger. I highly doubt those two will be leaving any time soon. Please excuse my naivety.

How did this do worse than in 1993? I know there's 2 extra songs to rank, but it's 6 spots lower. What gives?

I highly doubt those two will be leaving any time soon. Please excuse my naivety. Excused! I think you're spot on about Ice Cube though after thinking about it more. We'll see... Still surprised Elton is hanging around. The Bonnie song brings back great memories for me. My family was driving from Tampa area to one of the Orlando theme parks, and we must have left a little before 6am. The top 40 countdown started part way into the drive, and Bonnie debuted at #40 that week and Beck at #39. I remember hearing so many songs that were new to me, especially in that first hour of the countdown, that I started waking up right before 6am every Saturday morning just to listen. My predictions for the next batch: Elton (again), The Four Seasons, Ini Kamoze, Seal. I also think "Never Forget You" is a goner soon. Babyface penned songs have not done well so far, and it's the b-side to the actual Mariah hit. (I also feel like it didn't do well in a Mariah rankdown) HOPING my #1 and #3 can hang on til the top 50.

We finally kicked out a couple of songs I actually cared about a bit, though I still haven't lost a big one, so that's fine. I'm not surprised in the slightest that my 91 is the last ranking below 80 that's still in, purely because of who's involved. My predictions for the next batch: Elton (again), The Four Seasons, Ini Kamoze, Seal.I would be shocked if Seal missed the top half. (I'd also really like one of them not to show up any time soon, but I'd be less surprised if that went out soon.)

70. If You Go (48): This was a personal top 5, following the first 3 from his previous album. The Spanish version was a minor hit back home. I've always liked the melody and latin pop vibe. I like the vocals enough, but it stays a bit too high for a bit too long to me. I'm glad it at least escaped bottom 30. 69. Can We Talk (70): Good to see his songs leaving in the right order. This has the better melody and vocals. 68. Anything (90): This sounds cool both in terms of music -including the sample- and vocals, but I didn't get the melody at all, especially in the chorus. 67. Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through (17): Awww. This was his second song to reach the top of my personal chart. After hearing this song, I got the album as I thought I'd enjoy the whole dramatic style --and I wasn't wrong!! I LOVE Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell. It's a different type of musical experience. I loved the melody, vocals and instrumental --more straightforward than I'd Do... although it still has the dramatic choirs, pianos that I really like. Plus, I like the more traditional rock vibe. Wish it had made the top half... but hoping I'd Do does better than in 1993. 66. Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm (46): Another personal chart-topper. This was a hit in rock radio stations and was a random song to cross over to pop stations -maybe the curiosity factor? I was haunted by the music and the use of lower register in this kind of song. Plus the background female vocals give a nice contrast. Glad this escaped the bottom third as it's understandably a polarizing song.
65. When Can I See You (57): This made my personal top 5, becoming my favorite Babyface song. I really like the percussion-led ballad sound, and Babyface's more subtle, smooth and tender vocals. This is already in the range of ~30 songs that I like quite a bit and were hard to rank. 64. Crazy (20): This was Aerosmith's most popular song back home this era, and another personal chart-topper. Nice old-school ballad type of sound, with strong vocals as expected. Just like Amazing and Always, this should've been in the top half. 63. Love Sneakin' Up On You (50): This song barely made my top 25, as this style wasn't my favorite at that time, but I do like it much more now. Smooth, lush, very classic sounding with a 90s twist. 62. Funkdafied (71): This was a nice discovery, especially in terms of the beat, groove, melody and the sampling in the chorus. Had the vocals in the verses sounded better, I would've ranked it higher. 61. Whoomp! (59): I ranked it ~10 spots lower than in '93, as I gave more room to the new batch of songs. It's still catchy and fun, but I found other songs more interesting.

Yes! I love The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead. Mostly because one of my first CD’s was the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack. I hadn’t yet gotten into popular music so I didn’t know anything besides Jock Jams so when my mom offered to buy me a CD I was like, I dunno I like the movie Dumb and Dumber I’ll just get this. That was my favorite off that soundtrack. It’s a good soundtrack! A few duds but when I saw it on vinyl reissued a few years ago I had to get it again. I like spinning it once in a while. A lot of the alternative-leaning songs are very of the time but I still love them! Crash Test Dummies's poppier cover of The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead was good, but maybe a bit too sunnier compared with XTC's original. That one made the top of my personal chart in 1992, though The other song by CTD that was a minor hit back home was Afternoons & Coffeespons, which made my personal top 15

Lost a really big one tonight. A top 5 to top it off. Not happy about "Crazy" leaving. "If You Go" turned out to be my favorite Jon Secada song. It sounded a lot like a Ricky Martin early 2000's song. I think upgrading some of those melodic Rap songs is starting to backfire on me.

The rap purge is upon us. :( Even though the one revealed so far were the ones I liked less, I hope this doesn’t continue... At this rate, "Regulate" won't even make the top ten...

If I had watched The Lion King more, maybe I’d have been more into this song. Still, it’s a nice song. It’s just not very memorable to me, personally, for the aforementioned reason.
