I am not shocked at all, mainly because it has been 4 years since her last song sent to radio ("Heartbreak Song") which probably means radio has still forgotten of her overall and the whole CRS moment, feels like such a long time ago and I would not be shocked if it was for that song she sang rather than the artist herself.

Very disheartening to see her absolutely bomb on her adds date. I felt like there was real hype for this woman for the first time since her debut single was released between all the press she'd been getting and the recent efforts from her record label, who basically let her sit around and collect cobwebs for several years, but is now seeming to try and get her back out there again. I really expected at least somewhere in the 20s for her impact date here.

The "Top 10 most added!" full page in Country Aircheck this week is so sad to me, but at least it does seem the label is in it. I will echo that she seems to be a really logical pick for OTV, whenever they decide to do that again.

I will echo that she seems to be a really logical pick for OTV, whenever they decide to do that again. Well given the lackluster adds, I'm not very optimistic about her getting that now. I think she would've been a fantastic choice and could desperately benefit from that boost, but if radio isn't interested in this song then it makes me think her chances are pretty slim.

I just hope Capitol sticks with her long enough to release a full project, radio play or not. The fact Caylee was able to release one without a hit is what gives me hope (that and the fact the label president is a woman). At least she has something much more positive to focus on! http://instagram.com/p/CEUPhEBF850

8 adds is ridiculous. Even Walker Hayes pulled in 10. Absolutely embarrassing (for radio, not her). This isn't my favorite of her songs, but it was not something that should have been so obviously ignored. Really sad.

The adds results really suck for her, but I have to wonder if they would have been better if they pushed "Black Like Me" instead. As much as I really like Mickey, think she is super talented and want her to succeed, I'm not a huge fan of this particular song.

You're giving too much credit to country radio if you think they were going to be able to put a song about the uncomfortable truth of racism in any amount of reasonable airplay rotation, sadly. It may have been able to chart from the hype if they'd given it a realistic push back when it came out, but I think it would've been something that fizzled out quickly like "Gaslighter" or "The Git Up," i.e. She needs something that doesn't have such a heavy topic to it. "Heaven Down Here" felt like a compromise of having something of a message song but while being more accessible and relatable to the masses and not pushing the envelope hard, but it seems like radio still wasn't feeling it. At this point, Mickey is probably going to end up in the same kind of avenue that Kacey Musgraves has carved out, and I hope that works out for her, because it just seems like she's missed the boat with country radio. Maybe the right stars will eventually align for her with something else down the road, and I'm holding out hope that it happens, but I'm at least thankful that her name recognition in 2020 is higher than its ever been all without terrestrial radio airplay, so that's something to celebrate.

I guess sadly it may not work for American country radio, but I could see it taking off here. That's unfortunate that they wouldn't be willing to adopt a song that takes on the topic, but I definitely understand what you mean.

You know what... She doesn't f**king need radio, clearly. I genuinely think she's going to carve the Kacey Musgraves path, and that'll be okay if she can eventually win herself the recognition of Grammy Awards the same way Kacey was able to. Still stings tho and I'm beyond disgusted. Mickey is one of the most talented singers to come out of the past decade and if Walker Hayes' vanilla-sounding white-as-snow ass can hit 10 adds and the only black woman on a major country music label can't...you can't convince me country radio isn't both sexist and racist.
In any case, September 11 can't come soon enough (and I hope a full-length project comes soon as well, much like Caylee Hammack was able to) and I am beyond happy for her and wish her child a healthy delivery.

She's performing "What Are You Gonna Tell Her?" at the ACMs tomorrow night. Will be interesting to see what happens with HDH after that performance if she gets any sort of reaction from performing WAYGTH like she did at CRS. Anyway, I'm just excited to see her perform solo!!
PS her EP is great. The 3 new songs aren't as good as the 3 pre-released singles, but still quality material.

Live studio performance of "Bridges" from her EP:
Can't wait to hear her tackle "Tell Her?" on the ACMs. I hope it blows up for her. *fingers crossed*

I'm not holding out too much hope but I wonder if radio will *finally* respond to her after the performance tonight. And if they do, will they play this one, or will they switch over to "Tell Her" since that's the one being performed?

Fantastic music video. It was simple in concept but super well-executed, the colors and editing were all perfect, and she looked absolutely stunning. Loved it.
That said, after the ACMs I was hoping there was a sliver of a chance they'd ditch this for "Tell Her?" instead since it seems unlikely that "Heaven" ever charts or does anything of note.

Great music video, really enhances the song.
Shame radio didn't pick up on this. I'm afraid she's just never going to get the attention she deserves.

Ugh. It’s absolutely criminal this has pulled in only 10 adds. Mickey deserves to be a big star.
Is it too late for her to become an OTV pick? I see serious potential and I want radio to be forced to play her for once. That video was beautiful and I bet you she’ll be a highlight in the CMT awards.

Theoretically it’s probably not too late to get OTV, but since virtually no one is interested in playing this I doubt they’d give it to her. I understand why they chose this as the single, as it’s less “controversial” than BLM or WAYGTH, but since it’s clear this one is going nowhere I wish they’d try one of the others and see if they can get anything going with it. IMO those are much better songs, and could potentially get some buzz going if they’re given the chance to be heard.

I get the logic of not picking WAYGTH or BLM, but I don't understand why they chose this over Bridges.

I get the logic of not picking WAYGTH or BLM, but I don't understand why they chose this over Bridges. I actually think "Heaven" was a safer choice than "Bridges" would've been, too. If country radio didn't want to play a song about her having a prayer to/conversation with God about spreading love then I can't imagine they'd be clamoring to play a song that's very directly about the BLM/police brutality protests. This was a great EP, but 4/6 of the songs are on issue topics about some combination of sexism, racism, and/or problems with humanity, so honestly she didn't really bring anything to the table that was tailor-made for country radio. "Tell Her?" is the one that I think would likely stand the best chance at doing something just because of the buzz surrounding it, but it's not something I can envision being in very high rotation across the board, either. I do think after her ACM performance they should've threw that one out there to at least try it though.
