I thought she was doing well in South America; Folklore has never left the Argentine albums top 3 since release (I don't know if that's an international only chart), and she sold out 50K+ stadium dates for Brazil in minutes. I have a feeling that for her next proper tour she'll mostly do international shows to support the rerecordings.

Also, I was looking at Harry Styles' Golden's radio performance and it seems to be stalling at pop radio and will probably be taken out by the Christmas freeze. Iirc it was released in late October and despite him having two big radio hits immediately before it Golden was not able to earn a big enough of an audience to survive the Christmas freeze. Perhaps Taylor not releasing a single wasn't that bad of an idea? She hasn't had a big pop radio hit since Delicate, so it would've taken any single some time to build up a large enough radio presence, and there's a chance it too wouldn't have been able to do so and would've gotten taken out by the Christmas freeze. I really hope Exile gets immediately after Christmas songs depart (so around December 29 or January 5), and has an MV release on January 15, and gets a world premiere performance at the Grammy's. That could help it do well. She needs a hit to support the rerecordings, since she probably won't put out any singles from the re-recordings.

Is it sad that I have never heard of Joe Alwyn without his name being attached to Taylor Swift's? Kinda. He was pretty excellent as a supporting actor in The Favourite, which won Best Film at the Oscars and also played a pivotal role in Boy Erased. I've only seen him in those two movies, but he left a strong impression.

The Favourite and Mary, Queen of Scots being the two major releases.

I'm really waiting for taylor to continue the folklore era now. There are rumours of two music videos being released consecutively, but I doubt that.

Lately I've been checking out the Delicate thread here, and there were a lot of Swifties there compared to here, where I am responsible for like 50% of the posts since October. God I miss it when she released singles. Hopefully August will be released as a single in March and become a no. 6 peaking smash that spends 6 weeks in the top ten and 36 weeks on chart and goes no. 1 at HAC and Pop. Edit: Apparently 180-ish out of my close to 200 posts here are about Taylor Swift.

Simply means that some radio stations are picking the song up on their own. No adds date has been announced but sometimes that gives a label incentive to set an adds date.

Also Taylor gave us an entire movie which is way better than a music video or two. I think we can give her a break.

We should all be happy enough that Taylor gave us an album (and a music video) at all. Being honest with you, I don't think that is the reason behind her not releasing any new single. The entire Lover era with its big MVs happened after her mother was rediagnosed, and The Man was even released after her mom was discovered to have a brain tumor. In fact Andrea herself participated in the shooting of The Man MV, and was a co-producer for The Long Pond Studios Sessions film. Taylor has also been doing rerecordings, so it's clear that she has actively been working. I personally think that she's waiting for Christmas to pass to release Exile in early January and end the Folklore era with that so that she can begin rolling out the rerecordings after the Grammy's. Indicators like the Exile hashtag, it getting certified in the US before Cardigan, and it being serviced to AAA for no apparent reason pretty much confirms that Republic understands its potential and has plans for releasing it eventually. It'll probably even get a live performance debut at the Grammy's.

I think she will promote it a bit during Grammy season but ultimately anyone expecting any more conventional radio singles is gonna be disappointed.

I just thought that she would just put out a re-recorded album every week or every other week. I am sure they will be put out in album formats and not as compilations based on genre/song type so it'll be interesting to see how they'll go about things. Will these rerecordings have any commercial success on their own? Like yeah they'll probably be earning the same amount of daily streams as the originals since they're gonna replace them on Taylor's main playlist, but will these new albums count as new albums? Will Nielsen and RIAA do so? If they do count as new albums then Taylor has a shot at having 10+ number one albums in each of the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland. If they count as originals then Taylor will probably become the first artist to have each of her first 8 albums reach no. 1 in each of the aforementioned countries, plus certifcations for each album and placements on all time charts will also improve. The prospects are very exciting; I just want her to push Exile as a single and I hope it becomes a huge smash so that people will become interested in her previous albums after listening to it.

I actually don't want her to do a Me!/Bad Blood inspired rollout for Exile. Just service to HAC and CHR and get it on TTH. An MV and a live performance would be appreciated but you guys make it seem like too much so this should suffice.

I wonder if, when the re-recorded albums are ready, whether there will be any sort of push behind the original versions to get them in front of the new versions.

Albums since 2010 that are T5 on Billboard, Rolling Stone, and Time's year-end favorite albums lists: 2020 Folklore 1, 1, 1 LAT #1 2011 21 1, 1, 1 (Pop) LAT #5 2010 MBDTF 1, 1, 1 (Rap) LAT's main critic #10 or #9 not counting a song they put in
2018 Invasion of Privacy 2, 1, 1 (Rap) LAT n/a 2017 Damn 1, 1, 2 (Rap) LAT's main critic #1 2015 To Pimp a Butterfly 1, 1, 3 (Rap) LAT's main critic n/a
2013 Yeezus 2, 2, 1 (lost rap to The Heist) LAT #10 2012 Channel Orange 1, 2, 3 (R&B) LAT #1 2014 1989 1, 2, 4 (Pop) LAT n/a 2010 Suburbs 2, 4, 2 (oddly lost Alt but won AOTY) LAT n/a
2011 Watch the Throne 3, 2, 3 (lost to the more acclaimed Kanye) LAT n/a 2017 Melodrama 3, 2, 5 (oddly nommed for AOTY but not in its genre) LAT n/a 2016 Blonde 5, 5, 1 (did not submit) LAT n/a
The main discrepancy, interestingly enough, is Yeezus. At least partially due to success levels; Thrift Shop was #15 for the year and #59 for the decade, with #1 hit songs. Yeezus was #37 for the year, with one song that cracked the weekly T50.

Folklore's chart run without the signed copies: 1-1-1-1-2-3-5-4-3-7-12-10-13-17-27-25-29-6-8 The signed CDs barely made much of a difference in the chart run as you can see from here. The only difference that they really made was in the weeks Folklore spent at no. 1. In fact other than that one week where Folklore dropped to from no. 17 to no. 27 the album registered new huge drops, and its chart run wasn't particularly unstable, just a little frontloaded. I counted the weeks with vinyls since almost every major pop artist sells them. For starters I think the signed CDs themselves should've been counted since they're a perfectly legal and fair way of consuming an album and reflect demand and increase revenue (& constantly commercial success). I just mentioned this here so people can't say, 'Oh the album is so unstable the only reason it had a good run was the signed CDs' or any crap like that.

Hi! I'm new around here and this is my first post. I wanted to get involved in the community again and this forum seems pretty thorough. Folklore is my favorite Taylor album, followed by Speak Now and Red (I'm country-folk-oriented), and even though this era is nothing like the Lover era, full of promotion, easter eggs and perfomances, I feel perfectly satisfied with what she gave us. I enjoyed the Long Pond sessions immensely, more than any music video she ever released. Give me an acoustic perfomance of a full album over a CGI, overproduced MV anytime
