The song has done better than anyone expected at the moment and I don't think anybody was thinking this was gonna smash like "Shake It Off" did in 2014. For a type of song this is, A Ballad released mid-summer, Taylor's song "Cardigan" has done really well on the charts and has went above expectations.Also this fact not many people know about all the new releases at the moment due to the pandemic and election taking over all the news, out of everyone I know,I'm the only one who knows about this song and other new releases this year, they don't know that Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift even put out a new album this year. OT: Every time I scroll quickly through a thread with your avatar, it looks like Taylor's mouth is dripping blood |

Expected to take another dip on the Hot 100 next week (-10 to -15 range). It's sort of stabilising on Spotify, though that might be due to the deluxe release. Again she has nothing left to prove but I would like it if this had a decent sort of run.

Basically you have to look at the trend. If it's a random bullet drop for one day it's fine, but a continuous decrease signals lower and lower spin gains until it inevitably starts losing spins (like this will in a week or so if it doesn't pick up).

Historically, a "bullet" means a song gained in points (spins, sales, whatever the chart measures) from the previous week. The saying is "#1 with a bullet", meaning the song is #1 and gaining. A song without a bullet means it's losing points. Somehow and for some reason, within the last decade, a "bullet" has been referring to a song's change/trend, either positive or negative, and people have taken up saying "positive bullet" (which is redundant), or "negative bullet" (which cancels each other out) but it's here to stay I guess.

While "cardigan" is a great song, it doesn't mix well with disco-pop type themes like "Blinding Lights" & "Break My Heart". However, I think if "the 1" got a radio push, it'd fair better off and potentially peak in the top 10. "cardigan" just seems too slow, and too long for radio to play, which is a bummer.
