Pop radio will eat this up... then puke (Good updates for the first few days because it’s Taylor Swift then slow down and fall out because it’s "boring"). NO, this doesn’t mean I don’t like it. I actually thought it was pretty decent, but there are much better songs on the album more pop radio friendly.

Pros: - Lead single from a new project - Hype for a new era
Cons: - Less pop than the 'Lover' album - Pop girls getting screwed by the format lately in favour of TikTok garbage
I could see this going top 15, top 10 at best.

this is gonna do the same as LYWMMD/ME! on pop except it probably won’t peak as high as either, but that’s okay. i honestly see this doing something on HAC/AC and maybe even country. if we’re lucky a #1 on the hot 100. debuts at #81 on itunes

I’m hoping for a massive album debut and I won’t mind if cardigan doesn’t peak high because this era is about the project as a whole. Selfishly would love to see both do well though.

i also really love this, and the album as a whole tbh. i don't expect this to become a radio smash (mainly because pop radio has been garbage recently), but i want it to at least do moderately well.

I’m happy she ditched Joel little and i like that she’s putting out whatever she wants whenever she wants. However this sound is not for me.

I can’t see this doing anything on pop beyond the initial hype, although in a perfect world this would be #1 and usher in a more “organic” sound on the format.

This is probably one of my favorites on the album. And the only viable choice for a possible hit to be honest. We all know CHR will pay it dust, unfortunately.

I love it but yeah not exactly pop radio smash maybe Lover performance at best that had longevity in the lower top 20 of Pop radio
Exile though I feel has more radio potential, this type of heartbreak songs sometimes do well on pop

I’m really more interested in seeing if they put out any further singles after this one. Definitely uncharted territory for Taylor as far as album rollouts go.

Radio will easily eat this up so much. And I don't know, get a #1 peak on the Billboard Hot 100? To make up for "ME!" not doing so and 100% DAMN DESERVED TO BE ONE?!?!
Stanning "ME!" because of Mr. Urie aside, this feels different from most of Ms. Swift's past songs, but a completely good difference indeed!

I can see exhile being a guaranteed single #2 for Fall and Winter, and then august being the final single. Also have to take into account she may re-release her earlier albums at the end of the year, so I wonder if that shortens this album era. Will be interesting!

But if memory serves right "Shallow" was absolutely overlooked by pop radio and this seems to be in a similar style (albeit a little more chill).

Oh wow, I did NOT expect a video like this. It was a nice surprise. Very refreshing compared to the Lover videos which were all made for the first day hype & then aged.

It should have a good debut this week, the only major song against is a Dua Lipa Spanish single with Bad Bunny. I think a top 10 debut will happen.

This is #4 on TTH, but Maroon 5 is #1? I'll never under Spotify's choices.

Honestly don’t care how this does on pop but hoping she can steal a week at #1 on the Hot 100. Taylor must care. Isn't there a reason why this got sent to Pop? Probably her record label, whose job it is to promote and that’s essentially what radio is, a glorified channel to promote albums and artists.

Now that I think about it, this is a more stripped-down Delicate which might eventually work with pop radio... But CHR is literally so fickle that it's difficult to predict if this will do any damage at all or be a mega smash...

“It's hard to remember any contemporary pop superstar that has indulged in a more serious, or successful, act of sonic palate cleansing." — Variety
Sonic palate cleansing is dead on the money. I genuinely feel like Taylor was having to always chase her own success. Let this be her reset moment. No frills, no Easter eggs, no huge promo build up... just her and music at the core of it.

I kind of like this but I have a feeling if it wasn't a familiar voice I may not. I'm sure it will grow on me some because most of her songs do. It's num.2 at Itunes but was just num.1. "The 1" is num.4 and "Exile" is num.7.
