The lyrics of the song are original, however the beat was stolen by Jason Derulo. Jawsh 685 was already negotiating with plenty of artists who wanted to use the beat before "Savage Love" was commercially released by Jason Derulo, who at first only gave him a production credit on the song. It was only when Jawsh 685 saw that the song was instantly taken off (and after he got the co-lead credit), that he was "cool" with it being used by Jason Derulo.

NOW his name is on it, but “Savage Love” originally dropped without Jawsh’s permission. The song was first released in May, but was pulled after Derulo faced backlash.

Her record didn't even know that it was happening until the day of.... How would Billboard now before them? She's the biggest female artist in the world, and dropped a surprise album to critical acclaim and chart success. Billboard is obviously gonna create 1 million and 1 articles about her. Yup. Emily Lazar became the first woman to get nominated for Sound Engineering at the Grammys. In 2016.

In 2018, a study by the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism found that out of 899 individuals that received a Grammy nomination in a six year period between 2013 and 2018, only 9.3% were women. The study also reports that a mere 2% of all music producers identify as women.

Focusing on rarer achievements is not the same thing as sexism

For example, between Raise Your Glass and Cardigan there were numerous solo #1's by solo men in their 30's and even 40's. The implication being that it's a lot harder to get #1 as a woman in your 30's.

So it's not sexist against men to pay more attention to solo #1's by women in their 30's when they're so much harder to achieve.

Beyond that, the vast majority of hate posts on Pulse are directed towards women beyond a couple specific songs such as Someone You Loved

Oppression flows in one direction only, from the oppressor to the oppressed. It is about the oppressor being in a great social power than the oppressed. Women are not in a socially higher position than men, and hence, it not possible for women to oppress men. As long as men are the dominant group, they can’t be victims of sexism.

Many people give the dictionary definition of sexism which goes like, “discrimination on the basis of one’s sex”. This simply implies that both men and women can be sexist towards each other. What we don’t seem to realize is that the complex concept of female oppression and sexism cannot be discussed in one sentence.

Women can, as Melissa A. Fabello writes in her essay, Why Reverse Oppression Simply Cannot Exist, make stereotypical assumptions about men, they can be prejudiced towards men, they can discriminate against men based on those prejudices. But women simply cannot be sexist towards men. Their assumptions or prejudices about men do not give them a higher social position and nor is it based on years of oppression.

This does not mean that prejudice or discrimination against men is morally correct or justified. Nor is it a solution to sexism. However, the concept of sexism is based on the fact that there exists a diverse social arrangement that privileges men over women and enables their automatic access to intellectual, material and spiritual resources.
