Why can't it just be people don't like a lot of K Pop stuff that's coming out now. Why does it have to be xenophobia. Maybe American teen girls are jamming to Shawn Mendes, Why Don't We etc for their crushes. I have no problem with K Pop but honestly it's not that good sometimes. A lot of times it sounds like outdated pop. Half the time it sounds like a Kids Bop track with a strange rap and a very spastic aggressive beat. I own a few songs from Monsta X and BTS but Blackpink is NOT for me. Perhaps K Pop isn't for everyone. Not everything has to be a phobia or something. I'm not saying this to be mean. I don't mind BTS. They work hard and have a few good songs but I never thought "WoW these songs need to Smash. They don't have to be smashed, but they deserve a chance no matter what to breakthrough with whatever they can bring. This was their chance to breakthrough and the squandered it with a horrible song

This was their chance to breakthrough and the squandered it with a horrible song I mean it hit Top 10 radio, #1 Hot 100 at times. They'll have a second chance. The fans will make it happen if anything.

I know that this isnβt career ending of course, but if they really wanted a US hit they shouldβve continued to make good songs instead of chasing hits with autotune.

They played it safe as some would say. Hopefully the album, or next single is different.

Up to #9 today, whether this holds until the published update depends on how fast "Holy" gains on this song, it's been closing the gap little by little.

This was their chance to breakthrough and the squandered it with a horrible song This is completely changing the goalposts considering this song has dramatically exceeded expectations in all metrics. All of their previous Korean tracks had fallen off the charts after a few weeks. This has shown that they can achieve some streaming longevity and radio will play their English songs. They definitely need to release a better song to have a big radio hit, but this is great progress for them really.

I think both Boy with Luv and this are too bright and bubbly compared with what is popular now. I find their lead singles so much worse than their normal music, to be honest. I'm Fine was far better than Idol, for example. Great updates still.

"Boy with Luv" deserved what this got. Unpopular opinion but IDOL feat. Nicki Minaj deserved what this is getting, but also agree with Boy With Luv

Iβm confused about the discussion in here. If this isnβt the type of song that would have broken them through with English speaking America, what would? Theyβve tried several different routes, Korean with American pop stars, songs with Nicki, Halsey, and now a straight-up English bubblegum pop song, which is the one that by-and-far has done the best for them. We know America is going to be adverse to any non-English song, especially one of an Asian-language. They have to take a safer route to start with. It didnβt explode on pop radio the way it looked to, (though itβs not done yet) but Iβd still say theyβve made tons of headway with making a name for themselves. Iβd be super surprised if they didnβt outdo the performance of this with another single within a year.

Radio is getting used to the idea of spinning them, people who never listened to them have given them a chance (they broke their Spotify monthly listener record by a mile). They were clearly hesitant about singing in English because they thought people at home would perceive it as them selling out, yet this English song is now their biggest song of all time in both Korea and Japan. They will have a chart record 8th week at #1 in Korea, which is insane. But I just really want to see them make a great single, which they are more than capable of.

I don't wanna be the "Election is being stolen!" type person but this song has gotten the worst call-out scores for the last three weeks, there's no reason it should still be gaining like this. Radio is so quick to drop Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, etc. when their scores come in but they'll keep BTS going? Sounds pretty fishy to me.

Their label most likely is gonna keep pushing this until their album launch. Iβm hoping a new song to be replacing this soon. In terms of call outs being fishy. While call outs are usually factored in but not always, I can see their label making the case of their multi week number 1 crazy sales and crazy streaming and used all those factors in progression on radio.
