Really rooting for this to do well. Radio needs to get moving and start playing some good new music!

Heard an edit of this today which replaced "See my lips on her mouth" with "See his hands 'round my waist" from the second chorus. I'll tell you what we're NOT gonna do. Ew! Not only is that blatant erasure of non-heterosexual sexualities, it completely ruins the rhyme structure. The "ou" in "mouth" is supposed to be a slant rhyme with "now" in the next line. "Waist" just... doesn't work. If they just had to make an edit for the Bible Belt, why not just change "her" to "his"? To be fair, the “See his hands round my waist” does sound really good when she says it at the end.

It’s pretty subtle

Yeah, but in the second chorus that line is followed by "replaced" which rhymes with "waist" so the rhyme scheme isn't messed up.

Do y’all really think Miley Cyrus is capable of getting a top 10 hit naturally in 2020? You literally just said it has payola currently. I'm asking what you meant by that. (And to answer your nonsensical dismissive question, yes she can. Anyone can.)

Do y’all really think Miley Cyrus is capable of getting a top 10 hit naturally in 2020? Yes, especially when it’s on trend with what’s popular on Pop radio.

If a song as weird as “death bed” can reach the top 10, then this can too.

I love how iTunes has become the new default for stan Twitter to try and make a song bigger than it really is.

I'm not denying that (though it's faint praise since everything post "Malibu" hasn't exactly been huge). But for example the idea that it has more #1 peaks on iTunes than "We Can't Stop" proves it's an useless stat.

We Cant Stop was big, but I think Midnight Sky is actually the first song in her career where the stars are aligning. It is following the trend of disco-synth pop where so many songs have been able to find success (Don't Start Now, Blinding Lights, Say So) plus it's radio friendly, capitalizing off the younger generation's fascination with 80s aesthetic, and her team actually seems to be promoting it. I think that this song will actually be big and smells of #1 potential (not saying it will be a #1 but it smells of it) if Dua Lipa could score a #2 hit in the US with a fairly small following, I think Miley can do it.

This will probably get caught in the massive clog between 11-20 and slog its way through for a bit. There is a lot gaining right now above and below it. I have confidence this will at least peak around where "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" will, and hopefully further if her team really works their ass off on their radio campaign and callouts are good.
Tomorrow with Powfu and BENEE going recurrent, this will be pulled up to #20! That matches the peak of "7 Things." Next milestone: "Malibu"'s peak of #16.
"Bang!" and "Kings & Queens" will likely surpass this soon along with "Mood" if today's updates are any indication of how the next week will play out, but "Roses" will go recurrent and this has the chance to pass up "WHATS POPPIN" and "cardigan," bringing us right back to #20 next week lol.

Do y’all really think Miley Cyrus is capable of getting a top 10 hit naturally in 2020? View AttachmentIs there any way of getting a hit ‘naturally’ or ‘Organically’? If that was ever the case, we wouldn’t need promo, labels, managers, music videos.
