And even Khalid has a very hit and miss discography. I feel like for every hit he gets there's at least another song that flops.
I gotta be honest though, label issues aside, I think it's just Miley. Radio doesn't give a fuck about her anymore, regardless of how good the material is. I feel like this would be on it's way to #1 if it was a newer act without the baggage that comes with being Miley in 2020.

Dude, I saw a meme hating on Miley this morning. It's still very much "cool" to not like her.

This is probably the worst mistreatment from radio I’ve ever seen and I’ve been watching the charts for years. How so? I watched 2 months after RCA debuted Motivation it got pulled Motvn Mediabase AI 32M (-0.40) Pk 33M, Itunes 83, Spotify 60, Apple Music 235
MdnSk Mediabase AI 20M (-1.80) Pk 34M, Itunes 48, Spotify 68, Apple Music 291 Miley is an established name so it's not like the public is still discovering her in comparison. So what makes this seem so unfair lmao?

And doesn't this have much higher streaming and sales totals than Motivation at this point in time? You also conveniently left out the fact that this has gotten some of the best callout scores of all time. Motivation did not.

And doesn't this have much higher streaming and sales totals than Motivation at this point in time? You also conveniently left out the fact that this has gotten some of the best callout scores of all time. Motivation did not. No she’s being treated like an established act whose material is not seeing great returns on-demand despite greater name recognition. I would assume the standards for what her label thinks is working would be higher for her. I do think this goes back to her label pulling it. Chartdata indicates that the cumulative US audio SPS for Midnight Sky is 500K, which is where Motivation was at this time with less overall radio. They came out almost exactly a year apart. Motivation was never sent to HAC to compare call outs there, but I haven’t seen anything about Midnight Sky’s callouts on pop radio. I can’t see RCA trying to center a singles campaign around a smaller radio format in HAC ( and its iTunes ) if the single isn’t doing that well on any streaming platform and has no way forward on CHR..with no or low callouts there. My point in comparing this to the run of a label mate with very similar metrics is that I’m not sure this is so unusual. The cries of “unfair” seem overdone given where this song sits on consumption platforms and assuming a lot of the decision making is based around the song’s profitability to RCA. Why keep milking a song with middling returns on streaming if the artist has already broken out and there’s marginal benefit in terms of creating more visibility for the singer as an act?

A new version of the song, possibly a mash-up with "Edge of Seventeen" entitled "Midnight Sky (Edge of Midnight)" with Stevie Nicks, is expected to be released tonight and it will be the track #13 of the album.

Hmm...I don't know how to feel about it. While I'd love to hear this, on a 15-track album, having the last three feel more like bonus tracks than anything (don't get me wrong I'm PLEASED that "Zombie" and "Heart of Glass" will be featured) is rather disappointing since this is Miley's long-awaited rock album and as a fan I'm wanting as many original tracks as possible. I'm probably in the minority tho lol

AMAZING. Miley continues to amaze me. Let's hope that Dua collab gives Miley the commercial success she deserves.

Yes on mashup. Plus Stevie Nicks is ‘hot’ again after the ‘Dreams’ revival. I doubt it’ll change anything on radio. Give me a Debbie Harry feature on Heart of Glass, please.
