owenlovesmusic, since you know about these upcoming events in music, when is the new Kendrick album coming? Unfortunately not until November 2022 I swear what's taking Anna Kendrick so long 😭

Man I just can't wait until Gunna drops a concious rap track where he goes all out on Cee-Lo Green and Ben Shapiro and tackles the sexism in the music industry My friends told me that he will be doing that on the Cardigan labour Day remix.

I'm chill w Drake dominance if its with a song like "Nice For What" or "Take Care". However, "God's Plan" was 11 weeks of hell. Cross your fingers!!

It's crazy to me just how big WAP is, I already expected a large debut anyways but I wasn't expecting it to be this BIG. This song is an event, probably the biggest event single since Old Town Road. The controversy must've helped it a lot. Probably one of the biggER events tbh, but it just don't see it as being bigger than The Box, Toosie Slide, Bad Guy, Senorita, Blinding Lights, Highest in the Room or even Gooba. Mostly because I really haven't heard about it outside of circles that usually talk about music, while The Box, Bad Guy, Blinding Lights and Gooba have all achieved that - the first for the ad-lib, the second for the aesthetic, the third for the "oooh" part, the fourth for, well, for everything. They've become memes. Senorita was also a huge talking point because of "omg Shawn and Camilla" while Highest in the Room was also big outside of the bubble because of being the huge new single from the Sicko Mode guy. Toosie Slide was also huge for two things, that is obviously blowing up on tik tok, and for how obvious it was that the point was that it was meant to blow up on that platform. WAP is big, but I don't really see enough talk about it despite of some people listening to it "by accident". But then again, we should probably just give it some more time to see if it'll grow, which it had on spotify, so who knows.

I’m going to make a bold prediction and say Drake is not going to debut at #1 on the Hot 100, and will get blocked by WAP. In Day 6, WAP continues to increase in streams, which means its going to have a big second week too. Even if views from the music video slow down a bit, it has growing airplay to make up for it. I can see a 2nd week north of 400 points.
Drake on the other hand has oversaturated himself, so I don’t think a new single is going to do anything as great as “God’s plan” or “In My Feelings.” The DJ Khaled singles are still there, plus “Toosie Slide” faded kind of quickly. I will be really surprised if he has a monster hit coming on the way on the levels of 2018.

gooba was lowkey a massive event, but wap is def bigger. imo its the biggest of 2020 except *maybe* the box if it crashes really really quick. but how often do politicians go off about songs in the streaming era? the only ones i can think of that maybe happening were the bigger picture, this is america, or anaconda. like that guy upthread says, this is bigger than just music at this point.

S•C•R•E•A•M•I•N•G! 💀

But they changed it completely. It doesn't sound like the same song Are the lyrics and melody different? I’ll have to go back and do a comparison. They probably dropped the remix of the remix (i guess?) today so they’ll drop the remix with the original beat tmrw

So, they counted Rags2Riches and Rags2Riches 2 as one song. In both Spotify and Apple Music, they have charting as separate songs/versions.

Definitely seems like “WAP” has a second week on lock too tbh. How much it’ll have dropped by week 3 and later is another guess though.

This new Drake is a hit. Like a hit hit. I’m drinking wine right now too so you know I’m feeling it extra hard.

BE LIKE THAT - Kane Brown/Swae Lee/ Khalid 9M 18% growth for a radio single. This could be a Top 10 hit.

Gooba? The only thing it's become a meme for is being at #100 ten weeks into its run and missing the year end list.

“Heather” by Conan Gray has been consistently rising on Spotify and now it’s finally starting to surge on AM, oh man I really hope he can finally really break into the mainstream with this!
