If that forced BTS nonsense dethrones a song that is averaging around 3M daily streams on Spotify (even more on Apple Music) in its 3rd tracking week, during a pandemic, Billboard will once again look like a meaningless, irrelevant joke.

I've managed to avoid listening to it. Unless you rely on label-boosted streaming playlists or terrestrial radio, it's not hard to filter out music you don't want to hear. YT is obviously easy - turn-off autoplay. A 15-sec preview on iTunes was enough for me; same for The Bones. If I can't last 15 sec, next. I give every big release a chance. And before y'all get all crazy - show me your Country, AAA, Active Rock, Urban AC and Karen AC receipts.

I stand by Sugar Walls (Prince) did WAP first and better - it's nothing novel - people just don't know history.

'Universal' #1 pretty much went away 20 years - there's scant exceptions - like 'Single Ladies,' 'Uptown Funk,' 'Party Rock Anthem,' etc. songs that make it on TV shows, sporting events, etc.

Let's just accept that the song-promotion is bifurcated: 1-week splash hits v. tracks that are promoted for longevity. Album-bomb tracks don't count because the label isn't actively promoting them - they just land on the chart.

If Billboard charts aren't able to accurately portray the most popular song or album for a given week. then that means the methodology is still flawed and open to manipulation and they needs to fix it. It's that simple and it doesn't go any deeper than that. This isn't favorite artist, favorite song thing. If the Hot 100 chart isn't able to reflect reality (in this case, WAP being, by far, the most popular song in America right now), then it's a useless, meaningless, inaccurate chart. And since we're stuck with Billboard, I would like for them to get their shit together.

there are different metrics and calculations Billboard uses that define popularity. whether it might favor BTS or Cardi and Megan this week is still up in the air, but either way, you not liking the #1 won't change the fact that, according to Billboard, whichever song comes out on top is the most popular this week. 

the BTS video is massive and they have a gigantic fanbase. your personal views of the group and their stans don't make the song's chart points "invalid" lol

How do you know it is not accurately portrayed?
Why is WAP by far the most popular sing in America and not BTS?
